Tara this is a wonderful tutorial for anyone wanting to learn texture and has never done it before! Love the TLP addition to the paste! This is beautiful !
This is wonderful Tara! I Love using all these pastes and modeling paste! I freely admit I've fallen down the mixed media rabbit hole😁... and I'm obsessed! Its so much fun! I would love to learn from you how to make these petals and your fantastic structured pieces. I think you adding all these new and fun ways to add to your pours or just create total new art is only going to bring you more success. You clearly study and get a technique conquered before you teach or share. Taking one of your classes would only be a benefit and a cool tool to add to your tool box! You go girl! This is going to be a great year for you!😊✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️
Aww! Thanks Tera! You are such a cheerleader and I appreciate it. Mixed media has become a new way for me to relax and express my creativity. I’m loving everything I’m learning and I’m really excited to share it! Much love to you lady! ❤️🙏🏻☺️
Hi Tara! Love the sculptural paintings! I took one with Mina Villegas teaching at FAE in Dallas and we had so much fun! Love the soft look of the flowers on your background! Not sure if I am going to make it to this one, but hope to take more of these sculptural art classes in the future!
Thanks Jennifer! These textural works are so fun and diverse! I really hope to see you again…if not at this one at one in the future! But I hope this one…😉☺️🙏🏻❤️
Tara this is so cool. You did an awesome job. ❤❤❤❤. What a great idea to use TLP in the paste. I guess you let the base paste dry first. Is that correct?
Thanks Carol! On this piece I did not let the base dry. You could if you want. The only problem I see is that you might see some of the texture poke through your flower petal if you are making such sharp points in your background. You absolutely can create these flowers on a prepainted or blank canvas as well with no texture in the background. 🙏🏻☺️❤️
I love your artwork!!! I purchased some paste to try this technique on my canvas. I'm wanting to know what product you use to seal this once it's dried? I was thinking of a semi gloss or gloss Krylon clear glaze spray but wanted to know what you use. TIA! 😃
Very pretty !!. Ive been playing & using different types of Pastes & found Red Devil & Dap to be 2 vey cost effective, great quality pastes. They take on acrylics & pigments no problem & great results. Have done ocean waves, large florals, birds & different abstract & all turned out great. I've done straight onto canvas that I pre drew images on & also on pre painted & dried base /backgrounds then drawn on or transferred images from freezer paper & all got great results. Definitely more bang for the buck. Lol. AB Creative does beautiful work using different store bought pastes with gorgeous results, that's where I got most of my inspiration from. She even does amazing creations using hot glue guns. (Next on my list of tools lol) She's an Art Teacher in her homeland, way beyond my skill level but absolutely inspirational. Check her out if you haven't yet !! Thanks for sharing your work, also always inspirational with all different techniques !!! Love your videos !! 💙💙💙
Thank you so much! Sounds like you have gone down the texture rabbit hole too. I love AB Creative. She’s is a real wealth of info and so wonderful to watch. I too have used the joint compound and spackle and I love using them for certain applications. There are so many options out there and I’m working my way through them to find out the most cost effective options that work best with certain techniques…if that makes sense. 😆 I like this light paste option as a way to cut down on shipping disasters and large canvas weight! Thank you for watching and sharing what works for you. It is such a great help! ❤️☺️🙏🏻
@PiecesofTaraArtistry yes, definitely have to take shipping into consideration. I only create for myself or friends & family. No selling or anything like that. But yep, the "paste bug" definitely got me. Lol.

Thanks Danele! I use a semi-gloss spray varnish from Golden.

How heavy is this? Could I use it on a hat?
The light molding paste is very light. It could easily be done on a hat!
