    As "not very good" as this guy is I can't wait to have this on my desk! The proportions remind me of Ken Ishikawa's drawings compared to the more polished and stylish SOC. Shame for the short Getter Cutters but oh well they are simple enough to be made out of plaplate

    • @HobbyClubhouse
      @HobbyClubhouse  2 года назад +4

      While rendering the video, I was looking at the SOC one and turns out that one has short blades too. Would have cut this guy way more slack if I saw that
      But yeah, I actually want to make super long blades for mine too

    Second this popped up I released the most deepest guttural demonic yell of my life once this hit.
    I haven't watched the full video and I have probably woke up my neighbors. All I know is that I'm super happy.
    (Edited Part)
    Aight, watched the full video. Great as usual man!~ While I am disappointed, I'm still happy with the kit! From what I'm aware of, we only got three model kits from the Getter series which is the HG Getter Dragon (not a fan of the panel lines, but good kit from what I've seen), SDCS Shin Getter (which I have and I really enjoyed building it), then this! While it is pricey and unreasonable with how the kit is, I find it a better alternative! I say this cause a lot of Getter Robo figures are extremely pricey in my opinion and are hard to get. Despite the flaws, I would happily get this kit!

    • @HobbyClubhouse
      @HobbyClubhouse  2 года назад +2

      There's another kit - but do not ever buy it: the Mecha Collection Getter 1. Do not buy it. I must say it again. The Mazinger Z is such a mess from aging that it can't be assembled anymore... I really wanted the Getter 1 too
      And I get you man, I was excited for the Arc exactly because it's so rare to have Getter kits, especially when I thought it'd come with all the bells and whistles of modern kits
      I love the one I have, though Bandai's going to lose so much money on this...

    I own both this and the soul of chogokin, and I gotta say I enjoyed this more, with soul of chogokin I tend to open them up, look at them set it on a shelve and go "yep, that's a nice looking figure" and then never touch it again cause it cost a lot of money (especially my first one I bought when I was still a student) but the model kits allow me to really enjoy the designs as i build them and put them in poses I would never dare put the soul of chogokins

    Honestly I've come to accept that any dynamic pro (go Nagai & ishikawa) kits probably will be more expensive than they should be. It's all in part to blame with the rough history either had, so they charge the shit out of licensing.
    That said however I think it's weird bandai wouldn't feel confident in the line, like super minipla made kits of nearly everything major in Armeggadon. The real exception just being shin getter dragon (likely due to it's size).

    @mikusheep Год назад +1

    Honestly I think the Arc is still probably 1/144 scale, it's just that super robots are a good deal bigger than gundams on average and Arc reflects this. I mean, the official listed height compared to Shin Getter in Armageddon is 55m tall which dwarfs gundams which are 18-20 meters on average. Arc isn't quite that big judging by the manga, and even Getter Robo Go, the most "real robot" Getter is still 20 meters tall. From this, I'd say it make sense that Arc is that big compared to even a big gundam like Nu with all of them sharing the same 1/144 scale. It is made up of 3 stacked jets after all.

  • @damiannguyen9195
    @damiannguyen9195 2 года назад +2

    After watching the honest review, I am admittedly quite disappointed with the kit, especially with the asking price. 4000¥ for possibly the worst of the super robot kits Bandai has put out since the Infinitism line. All the Mazinger kits, although also has quite middle of the road articulations in a few areas like the shoulders, makes up for it with really impressive details and neat gimmicks, like how they all have subtracting armor panels when you bend the limbs to both preserve the looks and the articulation, and ball joints in the waist that can be pulled up to do some nice poses. I think that the back side of the calf of the Getter Arc would really benefits from a similar engineering trick, which they has been using for years with kits that are less expensive than this.
    Both this kit and the show has the same problem of looking great while standing still but becomes extremely mediocre when things start moving. For the show, I can still definitely say it is, in its heart, a passion project for the late Ishikawa and the Getter series with all of its bombastic music remixes of old iconic Getter songs and how the animation is actually getting better and better every episode. As much as it pains me to say but I can’t feel the same thing from this kit. Except for the few good points, like how they color separated all the green parts on the face, this kit just feels like it has every corner of it cut, especially when compared to the other non-Gundam kits Bandai has put out over the year, like Digimon Amplified, 1/60 Fullmetal Panic, and the Infitism line.

    • @HobbyClubhouse
      @HobbyClubhouse  2 года назад

      I get the feeling Bandai believed fans would get the kit no matter what so they kicked the price way up and then cut corners just as you said to keep the cost as low as possible. From the colors and the sculpt, it seems as if the designers tried to do what they could with whatever room they were given but had to make a lot of sacrifices.
      (I think) the Getter Dragon got a swinging panel for the back of the knees like the ones you mean. Such a shame they couldn't do anything similar here.
      For the animation, the endings with comic panels from Ken Ishikawa were all such a nice tribute to him. The show also seemed to have gotten a low budget too just like this kit

    • @damiannguyen9195
      @damiannguyen9195 2 года назад

      @@HobbyClubhouse I can sympathize with Bandai cutting corners somewhat because of the current pandemic situation still going on. Production still hasn’t gone up to what used to be, so price has to be cut somewhere. With a lot of Gunpla kits, I heard that actual numbers of kits being produced is still low, especially the upcoming MG Dom and Rick Dom, which had so little preorder slots that even many people in Japan can’t even secure one right now. With this kit, those corners cutting went deep into the quality of the kit itself. As a Getter fan, I think I’d still get it (at a discount) and give it some heavy joint mods to show the love and respect that Bandai so undeservedly stripped from it.
