- Welcome to the start of a brand new series: Champion Versus! Today we're gonna start off with Yasuo and Yone, comparing them in terms of gameplay and a little bit of lore/backstory. Hope you guys enjoy this series! I plan to cover a lot of rivalries in the future as well :D

This video actually came out like a week late because of scheduling, and I've already sorta finished the next episode but I made some structural changes such as removing the number rating and changing Self/Team Utility with Solo/Teamfight instead. So to everyone flaming me for giving Yone 0 for team utility and synergy don't worry that's gonna be handled in future releases :P
Ok glad to see it yones cc seemed to not matter which was weird but good video though love the idea! I want to see the next one already ^_^
It should be noted btw that Yas can also use W still during R to protect from range offensives and attacks that would kill him I believe. (Basically he can plan out mid-late game if they kept it in.) Yone in fact can't do this because riot BUILT IN that he has to play out his ultimate and a second/.sec? after before making any moves. I've seen this get them killed before against good players too lul (Added onto the fact that I think Yas shield still counts in his ultimate yea?)
Also, me geeking out here for lore but saying near the end that ironically Yas is more healthy for his team fits pretty well to me given Yas idea of seeing Yone a slave to honor (Which down right cost his "team" their deaths instead of listening to Yas in the first place, then later Yone reminding Yas and asking why he's running only for Yas to grow into a more mature person even helping out synergy wise with Taliyah back then.)
maybe like anti carry potential could be a good category. because yone is especiialy good at murdering one fed person and the getting out unlike yasuo who has to teamfight almost everytime, which is to his detriment if the enemies have lot stuns. Maybe have an assasination/ pick/ dive potential category and put it directly before or after team utility.
i know burst damage is already a category, but a you have a team utility (teamfight) category; nobody would argue argue yas is a worse team fighter, and no one would argue yone is worse at assasinating one person and living. so maybe have a category for something like that. ps. if that category existed you could probably see the points and cumulative and the difference in potential between yone and yasuo would probably be reflected more accurately.

I think it's because blue is more striking to the eye. Feels more like an equal counter than green.
Well, the extremes of the visible spectrum are red and violet, so in terms of light (different than pigments) red and blue could be seen as opposites, blue is very close to violet in the spectrum.
Albeit a more literal counterpart to blue light would be orange.

I think Vars forgot that Crowd Control is a utility, and a really big factor at that. Would you rather have someone had a very obvious indicator of CC for your team, or someone who does so unpredictably and almost impossible to react to at some times.
For team synergy, would you rather put an Orianna ball to someone who only have one easy to dodge CC and point and click dash than someone who can freely dive inside 5 man formation?
I hate Yone but his Team Utility and Team Synergy are his best parts and Vars just straight up forgot about those things.

I disagree with you on Yone not being a team player. If he hits a 3+ man ult, it basically lines up the enemies to be combo'ed by team mates and requires good positioning just like Yasuo's wind wall.
Completely agree with you, his Grouping is better than Diana's, he gathers enemies almost instantly, stuns them and deals huge damage while Yasuo is more reliant on his team for crowd control for him. Yone doesn't lose too much to his brother.
@@sydorovich2532 can E ult instantly, yones ult isnt landing on anyone above gold without setup, and since at objectives he cant get q stacks to get his own setup hes literally useless without setup

Yone ult is a much better Diana ult and yet how on this channel one is considered a great team fighter and the other is not despite having a better ult is beyond me. Also I vividly remember the Sylas, Yone mid and Diana jungle meta when whenever I would be on Diana and have a teammate Yone or vice versa the better Sylas players would almost always prioritize Yone's ult to the point where he would even ignore using his R on me a lot if I was a Diana just to save his R to steal toplane Yone 's ult in a skirmish/teamfight despite himself being AP because of Yone''s ult playmaking potential and versatility.
@@lunacy5510 because its better on paper and not in practice, unless youre going against really shit players with really bad reaction times or just general low elo players diana ult is way better as a standalone ult, yones needs setup and if he just E Rs vs good ppl in a river fight hes gonna just miss, diana can just space in her E range and threaten her ult since theres no way of guessing when its gonna come so she can control really well, yas ult is guarantee if ur knocked up you are dead and it holds people in place, yone ult drags everyone too him so youd have to put all ur aoes at the end of his ult which for champs with short ranges means they have to run for a few seconds first and by then the enemy can already move (also sylas R scales off AP so does every ult he steals so that doesnt matter)
Do next Seraphine and Sona. Even though they are the most cancer bot lane together.

I dunno, I feel like Seraphine is more like Lux than Sona. Both scale well with AP, Sera's E kinda feels like Lux Q, and Sera Q feels like Lux E, the W is useless on both champs because your idiot teammates will die regardless, and the ult on both champs feels like it's a backline sniping tool.
The fact that i have 200K+ mastery score on Yasuo and still feed and not having Yone on even Mastery 4, yet get fed like 80% of the time is an answer in itself lmao
You can be Yassuo and still feed as Yasuo, it's just part of the champ's gameplay.
ah, i have seen many yasuo players as an enemy and teammates, and they all go for the 0/10/0 powerspike but fail the strat
Cos ppl are fkin stupid, once fed yone can put huge pressure on every point of the map, it becomes incredibly hard to clutch. Whereas his kit may seem incredibly overtuned, it's actually pretty predictable and it's not hard to punish him
yasuo has a lot higher learning curve on all stages. You can be alright yone after 2 games. As yasuo you' prolly need 10 to be using his e and w optimaly. disproportion is higher on the top of the curve
@@NothingSerious...2 naah, actually with yone you must be able to kite some dangerous bruisers, even when chasing you always have to calculate the point of your e2, also yasuo has 1 damaging ability (ult can't be cast indipendently so i don't count it), yone has more combos engages ecc.

@DuhTofu Not much tbh keep up the great work! Would maybe be cool for this series to get a few clips of the champions being talked about fighting each other. E.g for this video getting some yasuo and yone fights would look cool while vars talks about them.
Honestly, yoy did a great job as usual. I'd just suggest that you put the total no. of points The Champions have in front of their icon after Vars rates them. Like, tallying them up.
Playing as Yasuo against Yone is one of my favorite matchup, because it's really feels like a duel between two samurais. Still get 70% winrate against spirit boy in 15 games this season tho.
Yeah I’m with you. I play both champs pretty much the same amount and if either are picked first, you already know I’m picking the other one. The 1v1 in lane between these 2 is actually insanely balanced and feels like the most skill matchup in the game

@@Aschuff22 It's really not. because of Yasuo's higher Q damage and base stats he outdamages Yone even in his (Yone's) spirit form early on and Windwall blocks Yone Q.

@@User19323 that’s where the skill comes in, because yasuo has the wind walls and dashes, yone has the oppurtunity to e +3rd q (which btw if yone himself dashes through yas, the windwall won’t block it). There is just so much outplay on both sides that it really comes down to the players skill.
Its a tricky matchup for sure as Yasuo gets trade priority with his passive whereas Yone especially early needs to react early. And often because of that trade priority Yone needs to waste W to break the shield from far away and it has a pretty long CD without boots. Yasuo also benefits from better in lane mobility cause of his E and his W as mentioned before blocks Yone knockup without much to worry about. You basically need Yasuo to screw up to get the lead on Yone

I agree that Yone doesn't have a lot of team utility but to give him a 0 seems to be undercutting him.
Yone has knock ups. They aren't for very long but it is still a small amount of cc. His ult also groups everyone together, it can be helpful for AoE ults like Neeko or Amumu. His synergy is minimal but it also deserves to be at least 1.
Agreed. I remember old league when pre-rework sion stun counted as CC. An AOE knock up with his ult, and mini aoe knock up is not a 0.
Yone synergy is less on engage and more of a 2nd engage. Malph ult + yone ult IMO is better than malph + yas.

That way any 5 man ults actually guarantee all enemies die
One major point that I would advise including in such series: "The skill floor/ceiling". Because of that we have 0/10 Yasuo-meme - while Yone has nothing alike in his public image. Yasuo is a VERY mechanically difficult champion to play, both effectively and at all. He has hundreds of ways to approach any situation, and choosing the right one isn't as easy as mashing your face on the keyboard. Meanwhile Yone is very similar to other skirmishers and assasins and champs, and has a very clear pattern of trades and all-ins, combos and how he fights in general.
And that is why, despite difference in pick/win rate, most players do not hate Yone-mains or don't joke about playing as him. Yasuo is just much more likely to feed, you need to be at least competent on him to perform - but even a bad player can pick up Yone and perform ok after a couple of games.
The 0/10 powerspike comes from the fact you only need 2 items to be able to 1v1 any champ, even if the slight difference in mechanical difficulty affects their perception, that would mean people should clown the same on a 0/10 yone if not harder, as any smoothbrain buttonsmasher is able to make use of their 0/10 spike whilst yasuo still needs some semblance of skill to pull something off.
Furthermore I don't get how you'd say yone mains are not getting hated as much. I genuinely don't know a single person who'd rather play versus yone than a yasuo. It's as you said: playing yone doesn't require half to skill to pull off anything compared to other champions. He'll do the same broken stuff whether you're better or worse, whether you won lane or not and whether your team is better or not
Personally, as a mage player, I like playing as and against Yone more. He's smooth to play as, and less frustrating to play against. Mostly because when he's done, he's done, while Yasuo's team synergy is just stupid.
Not really if yone gets IE shield bow and Rs you he will oneshot you regardless of how well he is doing.
Theres a place for both champions to settle their differences and something they both equally deserve...its hell😂

@@andreicalegari1837 the reason I say Leona is because pyke has a drastically different style compared to those 3. I would compare Pyke to Blitz as far as similar kits (hook, speed boost, stun, and good ult) whereas the 3 I listed all have to heavily commit to their stun. Leona and nautilus fly to the target they hit, their next ability stuns, they both have cc ultimates and defensive abilities. Thresh is the same way although he differs very slightly in how he goes about his type of grab, with it being a drag first before he commits and having more team play instead of lockdown.

@FBI I agree that Thresh provides slightly more in the team fight with both a get in/out tool and a passive thst stacks his damage, but he doesn't have much on the aoe side past his e displace and his ult. Leona and nautilus both have larger potential stuns or knockups with their ults, along with good burst damage in leonas shield and nautilus's slow. Not to mention naut and leona both have extremely consistent cc in having a point and click stun, where thresh still has to aim projectile to effectively create an opening.
I play Yasuo sometimes and he is more punishable for misspositioning.Yone can go in and go out with one ability.And my summary is yasuo is better designed.

I would argue that Yone does have _some_ team synergy in the form of his ultimate. Being able to group a bunch of enemies together is similar to Orianna's which is great for team mated that have AOE attacks like Illaoi Ult, Leona Ult, etc
Ngl that ult concept sounds really interesting. But really I like it when they are cocky and pick either one into either one and then I win the matchup cause I'm the supreme weeb.
This video was really well rounded talking about these points made me realize that Yasuo indeed has utility even if he is feeding he can peel while Yone can't. Overall very well made despite the ratings being somewhat arbitrary it is a good comparison and interesting format.
Yone is way more busted than Yasuo. I don't play neither, but Yone having a massive game winning ult that CAN'T BE CANCELED, a Leblanc W that deals extra true damage and cleanses you when moving back, a shield that is practically instant and a knock up that has a deceptively large hitbox which also is a dash.
Basically every ability is a better or upgraded version of older abilities.

Great video, although i would like the series to go into more of a lore direction instead of a gameplay one. For example instead of looking at sett vs vi, i would find it more interesting to look at jinx vs vi and see how their lore rivalry is reflected in their gameplay.

Another amazing series to look forward to! With a lot of champion comparisons to make, this would be a long ride.
With how the categories are now, you would likely come to the conclusion that supports are just worse champs. Leona has very low DPS, bad burst, bad mobility, worthless self utility (you usually dont stun people for your own benefit), and no synergies outside of like, Kalista. Yet despite that, she's hugely impactful to her games. So it seems to me that a 10 point scale isn't the right way to compare, at least not an absolute 10 point scale. If you're only trying to compare the 2 champs in the video it should be relative to eachother, not relative to the entire champion list. Maybe the winning champ in the category can have up to +10 points, and the losers always gets 0.
As of right now though, I think you've grossly overstated the synergies score for yasuo. Hitting yasuo ult on more champs usually isnt what wins teamfights, unless its a short displacement like rell ult and the yasuo ult stuns them for a bit. Both yone or yasuo win teamfights where malphite hits a 5-man ulti, yknow? I get that Yasuo doesn't have to be up close to capitalise, but 8 points is just too many. How many times does yasuo ult on a big knockup win a teamfight that wasn't already won? Compare that to the number of games won because kogmaw or vayne or ashe scale insanely hard with enchanters, there's no shot that those numbers are close.

I disagree with Yone having 0 as team utility...He has stun, displacement for his team, which can well be used as an initiation
Really Fun video! I personally love the Lore/Character design a lot so going like half a minute deeper on those would be the only wish I have. Rest was super nice

Ok I just finished the video, those two do not share the same gameplays (just that I like both, and Vars mentionned early the duality between Swain and Jarvan). Forget about it
Yasuo was the single most broken champ back in the day, now he is a strong yet balanced champ that can work well with most teams
Yone is just... everything bad about league nowadays, STUPID high DMG, 0 Utility other than knockups(one of the few cc types inmune to Tenacity) and just insane mobility and sustain
In games I'd take a yasuo over a yone for both teams 100% of the time, because yasuo cant fuck up nearly as bad in my team and is easier to handle if he goes smurf mode on the enemy team
A 22/1 yone is litterally unbeatable unless HE fucks up, while a 22/1 yasuo can be beaten if your team just focuses cc to burst them before they can apply lifesteal and bait the long cooldown for his wall
For that Yone is technically better, but he is toxic for the game, just like Gwen and just like Viego

In terms of gameplay and overall fun, nothing beats yasuo, in terms of effectiveness/power then itd defo be yone, mf healed full hp in just 2 q's in front of me and acted like he aint broken

You could also compare them to how they deal with the ever changing meta(staying relevant or becoming totally obsolete), or their early/mid/late game

I thought of a kit based on the "Mass Exorcism" version of Yone's ultimate Vars thought of. This version of his kit shifts from hybrid aoe burst dmg assassin to focus more on his hybrid aoe sustained dps skirmisher style. I'm curious to know what everyone thinks of this...
Passive: Exact Same. BUT now his attacks mark enemies, revealing their azakana spirits. Every third attack from Yone, whether its an auto or an ability, will "exorcise" the spirit and do a tiny bit of flat true damage. (No effect on minions or monsters)
Q: Same as before
W: Same as before
E: No longer does damage at all. Only gives Yone the speed and ability to jump back to his mortal body after a short time. He can still jump back early if he wishes.
R: Upon Activation, Yone and enemies marked by his passive will enter some kind of stasis/passive state on the rift (like his E). He takes their spirits to the spirit realm to fight the azakana within them - by himself in a small arena. Everyone inside in the realm is immune to cc effects. As yone damages enemy "spirits" inside the realm, their real body takes damage. The ult ends if Yone dies, if all enemies inside die, or the duration ends.
R passive: While in his ultimate, Yone's E changes to his old ult (skillshot line blink that damages everyone it passes though). BUT it is a thin line, deals wayy less damage, and cant displace anyone because there are no CC effects in the spirit realm. If Yone kills an enemy inside the realm, his E cooldown will refresh.
In this version of his kit, I tried to make it focus on sustained dps like a skirmisher. Even if he finds a way to the backline, he wouldnt instantly burst the carries then jump out. Q and E are aoe, but dont do enough to delete on their own so he must weave in single target basic attacks. The true damage is frontloaded, but smaller. He would do a chunk of aoe damage and then focus on surviving with W before warping back. After his E, his mid-fight would be weak but not unplayable. He now has the disadvantage of skirmishers due to poor target selection (no more blinks and his E is on cd). But his shield, aoe, and hybrid damage does kind of compensate.
If he really wants to finish off the backline, then he has ultimate. He is 100% guaranteed to do uninterrupted dmg while enemies are piled up (katarina's dream situation). The tradeoff is that he has do it 1v5/1v2/1v3 etc... and no knockup from W due to cc being disabled. Since E wont be useful for cleansing cc and repositioning in a small arena, I decided to make it transform into his old ult but weaker and a limited duration.
It's possible for him to.get the ideal 1v1 scenario inside ult, but this will more likely happen in lane phase before he has items, unless he split pushes. In mid game enemies will begin to group up so Yone has to choose whether to take the number disadvantage head on or he can hold ult for an opening. While in ulti, going 1v5 has potential for glory since he can reset his E for extra aoe dmg.
What does anyone think? Would this kit still be too strong?
as similar as they are, I think they did the brother thing really well. they share an identity but their playstyles are different with Yasuo being a hard engage champ and yone balancing 3ngage and disengage. Without minions yasuo doesn't have an escape but he doesn't really want one either. He gets in and either steam rolls or dies, whereas Yone is a bit more squishy and gets in and leaves.
I'm saying this from the perspective that neither are superfed and the teams are on a level playing field. I'm aware that either of them fed to shit just engage and don't leave
Honestly, I think this is a pretty cool idea for a video series, and there are a ton of champions to cover, as 80-90% of the champions share a similar kit and/or theme with some others (which would most likely happen no matter what with 157 champions, unless you're DotA).
Vex - Lissandra is something I'd like to see. The two champions have a very similar playstyle/role, as they're both anti mobility mid range mages with decent poke, burst, and great teamfighting due to their ability to jump in and instantly CC multiple people, while having a bit of safety from their kit.

It might be just me and my confirmation bias, but I believe I've read a dev blog/dev forum post once, where they talked about the scrapped abilities of Yasuo from when he was in development. Yone's ult was literally what they scrapped for Yasuo. He would dash through a target and after a small delay strike it, like they do in all these samurai movies, where two samurai dash through eachother and sit there dramatically waiting for one of them to fall.
I believe there were only two scrapped abilities explained and I don't remember the second one. I didn't manage to find that post anywhere, but I still believe it existed before Yone was even announced or maybe even though of made into a champion by Riot. The sad part for me is that he just became a pre-release Yasuo in terms of his mechanics.
P.S. It might've been the forum page linked as [6] under Trivia tab on Yasuo's League wiki page. There's also a development story on Yasuo (Development) page of that wiki, but I didn't find the description of that ultimate there, so likely (unless I remembered it wrong and/or made it up) it's not quite it.
did u notice that fizz passive is just a better version of Kassadin passive both give ghosting but fizz give reduced dmg from all sources but kassadin only magic dmg
As a dirty Yone main I'm confused by the 0/10 for team utility, as if we're talking about team fighting and skirmishing I'll usually be about to lock down people with knock ups, and sometimes even be on peal duty depending on the situation.

Just a random comment (and Im using Riven here, bcoz her kit is pretty modern for such an old champ, so its easy to make the S10/S11 "adjustments")
Looking at Yones kit made me think what if for example Riven was released in S10 / S11 (those are additional things on top of what she got now)
Passive - Riven heals for 10% of the dmg dealt with her empowered autoattacks
Q - Applies on-hit effects (opens up stupid broken build options including crit builds) - tribute to Kata mini-rework
W - Applies up to 15% armor shred
E - Shield amount has now additional scaling wiith lethality and crit chance
R - R1 Removes griev. wounds for 5 seconds and her empowered autoattacks apply additional magic dmg, R duration resets on takedowns, the R reset agrants again the removal of griev wounds - Tribute to Singed and Soraka R mini-reworks that broke them and the fact that Riot nowadays gives almost every champ a reset bcoz its such a healthy mechanic, right? :P
Might be cool going forward to have a small section on who would win in a fight lore wise, especially for those champs that are unrelated in the lore
I really like the concept, and enjoyed the breakdown a lot, giving numbers to the champs and then ignoring them was awesome(seriously, loved that) my only "criticism" is I'd like to see fantasy or lore as a category
champions like Jhin that really nail the theme and lore of the champ within their game play should get some kind of mention at the very least
I'd also like to see Aatrox vs Riven the battle of the repeating Q's, W setups, and E dashes
That video was like a breath of fresh air right when your other topicks got a bit stale for me.

Vex wins this one pretty hard and it's not even really a problem. Annie is just really old and doesn't have the most consistent playstyle. Also Vex right now is overtuned we'll have to wait to see her intended damage.
Thumbs up for my part. Really like the concept of this video. Maybe for future videos some more details regarding general playstyle and ranking in the meta would be nice.

I know i'm late, but regarding the synergy. I think Yone can be picked in more soloQ games, as he doesn't rely on your teammates to have knock ups. As in order for Yasuo's team synergy and teamfighting power to be consistent he needs champions with knock ups, as you cannot get tornados reliably (e.g no minion wave, river or jungle).
It's crazy how fast your videos editing have been improving. It's really good now, do you do all your editing yourself?
