That aside though, please continue this series it's probably my favorite one on your channel and seeing as you release multiple top notch videos every week I just honestly can't be deterred from leaving a like. Funny thing about Rengar and Kha’zix is in their respective opponent’s eyes, they already are the very thing they strive for. Kha’zix views Rengar as the ultimate predator and its evolution will be complete upon devouring him. Rengar sees Kha’zix as the ultimate monster and he’ll prove himself as the ultimate hunter after successfully hunting the beast.

As a Kha'zix onetrick, I have to admit every time there's Rengar on the enemy team, the game feels more challenging. Their rivalry is pure and this whole idea of "two assassin champions fighting who is better" seems super funny (even more when you realize how much every other player in LoL hate assassins lmao)

Storytime as a kha main. In the early days I met a rengu, the game physically changed. It literally became me v him and the rest of our team doing absolutely everything they could to win, but it essentially turned into a 4v4 I think we both went around 32/32 ish
Rengar main here, it really makes it feel like it's you vs the Kha'zix, you FEEL like the entire game is about the two of you fighting lol
I've played a ton of Kha, but only run into maybe 4 or 5 enemy Rengars. Unfortunately, I think every one of those games was FF'd before the actual rivalry interaction could take place
@@benjaminparker5044 That makes sense, think about it, both champs are snowbally as hell. It’s very rare that the game goes that long because one of them is gonna pop off.
As a Kha’Zix main and debatable one-trick, playing against Rengar is super fun except for the part where my ult doesn’t work because Rengar pressed E.

@@OuhHey His ult isn’t as bad, since unless you’re completely on your own, you can play around it by putting the mark on someone else by moving away from him

As a Rengar one trick I love playing against Kha. It just turns into both of us invading each other fighting it out ignoring the dumbass laners.
This is just leagues version of Alien vs Predator.
There similarities are striking
Headhunter Rengar inspired by the predator.
After rengar much much needed changes, I think he is like slightly worse than Kha now. Before those buffs the was no reason to pick the cat over the bug.
They are even, now snowballin on rengar is easier and his crit build to snowballs beyond broken levels

Exactly, have you ever had a new rengar in the game. he deals the same amount of damage as a regular assasin (with much less time to react), while healing more than an aatrox with the same amount of health as a bruiser. not to mention his tower shreading capabilities. His only problem is that after his burst he needs to retreat or just 1v1. But honestly it doesnt matter because he can tank and outheal anyone attacking him unless its a 1v5.
There is still no reason to pick Rengar. Kha is better assasin period. But Rengar I would argue is way more fun to play and has tons of combos and ways to play him so he doesnt get boring. But he is more of a for fun champ

@@alekss223 Rengar is more flexible than kha he has much more tools and build paths. I'm not saying he doesnt snowball harder than kha but if ur not snowballing the game will be harder for Rengar when Kha is going to be easier. Kha is better assasin because he has just as much dps as Rengar but he also has escapes where Rengar doesn't. He is good low elo where he can 1v9.

As a pre buff Rengarenjoyer (3rd Main) I am really hyped for that video. I find people underestimated him so hard and now hes just a killing machine.

I’m a kha’ zix main and I love having a Rengar on the opposing team. The game gets more important and you try to play much better because of the hunt event. Yeah you’re battling for that extra evolution point but it really does feel like you’re battling in order to be the better jungler.
Playing as a 6 items kha zix and 4 evolutions feel like a different game it so addictive I have mained kha not so much anymore bcs jungle got to much for me but man it is aways fun to duke it out vs rengar riot really out did themselves with them.
I think they're equal on average, but it depends on the players. I've played both champions a lot, and I can say that Kha'Zix is better on the hands of a less experienced player and isn't as unforgiving as Rengar. The Pridestalker needs to be very aggressive to be efficient, and a single mistake can ruin your whole game. You need to maintain a huge pressure on the ennemi team and use it to get a lead and stack your passive as early as possible, a single death can ruin all of this. So yeah, Rengar is a better champion if you're really good at the game basically

The second time i played Kha'Zix i got a pentakill with him. It was clearly not me, it was the champion. I know what he does but i really don't know what to do with him. All i can say is that it was easy to jump on low health targets one by one. Never played Rengar tho.
Enemy picking Kha'zix? No problem, we play safe and build armor and chain CC him.

As a Kha'zix player, really hyped for this video, love to see it. I feel like Rengar engage is slow enough to allow enemy reactions, but then he uses the backloaded utility of his kit to nullify any counterplay; meanwhile Kha'zix is about front-loading damage so the enemy physically cannot access their counterplay. Both playstyles are fulfilling + skill expressive and I love how Riot designed these champs, though I imagine ADC's do not feel the same...
Yep as i play all roles and got some main champions for each one its my nightmare dealing with a rengar and khazix but im mostly scared of rengar cause of his utility and burst while khazix mostly i just hide from my team lol
I do prefer versing Khazix than Rengar though as ADC mains (I play Twitch and Samira mainly). Khazix has strong front loaded burst but it's not as instant as Rengar. Rengar literally killed me in 0.2 second and it's impossible to survive that. Kha at least leaves me a very small room to escape.
@@le_marc depends what runes as well and how far ahead they both are because I've oneshotted people within 0.15 secs as khazix but that's because o was uberfed though.
@@le_marc just saying that if you manage get some space between you and rengo hes screwed withou bush or ult (unless ur weak af and cant kill him in 6 sec) on other hand kha have either his e reset and ult whos more op?? Eeeehm i would say rengar but kha is so much easier to play (saying as rengar main)

@@amosdeguzman9980 Aatrox slayed most of tryndamere guild, and have quite a few special interactions (Kayn, Aatrox and Varus which the last one I forgot to mention, are Darkin)
All of the above have vastly different playstyles to each other so i don't think these would be good comparisons

For a champ that's based on opportunity cost, Kha is surprisingly adaptive to all situations. You have to choose 3 from 4 upgrades to your abilities but it doesn't feel like you are having a big disadvantage for not upgrading one of the 4 abilities. The contest between Kha and Rengar is truly the contest between flexibility and streamlining. One can do more things the stronger it gets the other can do one thing but better the longer the game goes.
I can't believe last video in this series had poor performance! I love this series and hope to see more. I always have an internal battle of whether to play Rengar as usual or to try out Kha and this helped me decide that Kha is worth learning. Great video!

Great video, Vars! I missed this series already, and I must admit the wait was worth it. Especially since I mained both, the kitty cat and void mantis, in the past, I side with Rengo on lore and design, but with Kha when it comes to gameplay and viabiltiy. Looking forward for the next video and I hope this one receives the positive feedback it deserves. :D

Generally, I like the new series you are developing and glad to see this one return 😁 I started here watching the “why no one plays” but as you incorporate some of the context and lore into exploratory videos, it reminds me that games like LoL have much potential be just as engaging to explore its stories/rivalries as they adapt or improve our favorite fantasy and video game tropes 😃
Back in 2013, when i was still a student and so addicted to the game, i was a Rengar main in solo-dual. There was this rank match when i was a Rengar jungler and in the other team a Kha'zix mid (if my memory serves me right). The game was really intense, me and the other team Kha'zix was competing really hard that we almost soloed each other immediately the moment we saw each other. It was as if we had read the stories between the champs and we would turn the story into real events. Things started to get crazy when we hit level 16, the passive interface popped up and both teams decided to watch the duel between us and to not interfere. The fight ended when i claimed the kill and the Bonetooth Necklace item (back then Rengar had his own item slot for BN) turned into Kha'zix's Head. It was fascinating and really nostalgic. Thank you for your video, it reminds me a lot back to them time when me and the boys were still playing the game.

I had no idea about that interaction between the two of them. That's a really fun way to tie into their lore while also giving a buff to the person who "resolves" the conflict in their favor.
As a Kha'Zix main and an avid Rengar player, I have to say you really nailed it with this episode ! Great content, keep it up !
I feel like whenever a kha zix gets ahead, it is so difficult to come back because he has reset and very reliable q burst. Rengar can be nullified if the jungler and your team plays well around vision and head him off early/ only let him get farm and not kills to snowball (which is easy because rengar needs bushes for mobility). Would prefer to have kha zix on my team than rengar, but would situationally like rengar if the enemy has a very strong 1 man carry.

Assassin Kha'Zix, even hyperfed, isn't scary if you have some CC, Peel or just a tanky comp
And obviously, Kha'Zix without isolation has an ridiculous low amount of dmgs, even hyper fed
@@OuhHey Ridiculous low amount of damage, even when hyperfed? Are we playing the same game? If Kha is seriously fed he'll still f your healthbar quicker than you can press zhonyas. At least from my experience.
@@m-mori Yeah, if you are "Isolated", Kha'Zix can pretty much One Shot you with W Q Passive AA
But if you are not, Kha'Zix lost tons of damages, at the point that you have to use multiple R, Qs, and Passive AAs to kill a squisshy target
And let's not talk about peeling, healing, shielding

@@OuhHey As if your team would always have a selfless face-checking tank. If your team is behind you, you are invincible but if they are not - if they are all squishy or caught out before fights begin, you might as well be dead. This is exactly why only the best of aphelios players ever got to climb because he is not necessarily mechanically difficult, but because the team is literally impossible for him to play
Only times i want Rengar in my team is when that Rengar is a smurf. A really good Rengar beats everyone.

I hope you can keep making this series, sad to hear it's been underperforming because hearing about what sets similar champs apart is interesting to hear about.
Lore-wise, why is the void so strong that it needed the ascended to battle them?
Is it something to do with their numbers or natural strength?
One means Kha'Zix is weaker than the average void spawn for getting beaten by a primal hunter, while the other one means Rengar is incredibly strong for someone whose training is to hunt for sport. Alien vs Predator reference and all, but there's gotta be a reason.
Rengars lore is quite messed up tbh. The lore may be changed again to suit the new storylines.
One point, that guy was a strong hunter, got retconned and now he is a weak runt of a vastaya who had to be twice as angry to win.
This reflects in rengars skins as well. After night hunter rengar, there was no original rengar concepts, until the ruined king event. Everything was tied to some tournament event or some khazix skinline to get the rivalry concept going.
Kha’zix never lost. In the story after fighting all night he just left. Rengar states that he doesn’t know if Kha’zix was fleeing or if he had learned all he needed from rengar and was on to bigger prey.

@@d4s0n282 Kha Zix got heavily injured and Rengar lost an eye so they tied out evenly in the lore.
In Wild Rift rengar and Kha'Zix have "Nemesis duel" as a substitute of "the hunt is on" Rengar gain an ulti that last a ridiculous amount of time and Kha'Zix gain a four point to evolve his abilities.
Same thing happens with renekton and Nasus but i don't know the reward of taking down one another.

Nasus gains AoE Q, Renekton gains max fury while on ult and Rengar gets free ferocity while on ult.
I LOVE the side quest both of these get and as a kha player a 4th evolve is crazy strong and feels amazing!
I always get nostalgic about these two from when I used to play only Kha'Zix and Rengar Top from Seasons 3 to Season 7. To this day I love both their desings because I think they both have quite well defined strenghts and weaknesses but if you master them, you can play them in a way where you almost avoid all weaknesses.

Ridley's theme is very fitting for this video.
In all your vids about Rengar you’re saying that you can’t triple Q anymore. But it can be done pretty easily. (Pretty much the same as the old version of triple Q but instead you have a timer to do it). You need to manage your stacks and the timer around it. But every Rengar main should know this trick.
Gain full stacks of ferocity and wait for your cooldowns then ult or jump on somebody with the Q activated before leap. Then a full rotation of your spells gives you back 4 ferocity (You got one from the leap) and you can Q again.
90% of champions would be death before the 3rd q.
The music choice of Ridley's theme is very subtle but I like it, Vars, I like it alot. Good hint to how Samus and Ridley have a long rivalry where they want to kill eachother, one for revenge and the other for personal satisfaction and, in a way, to finally get rid of the hunter.
I wish we got more late game events like their duel or the battle of the ice queens between lyssandra, Ashe and sejiuani. With so many champions it’s already extremely rare to even have the champions needed for them in a game.
Obviously need to do Yi vs Trynd for this series!

I think an "Akali vz ZED" video is a good topic since they both r very popular champions, hyper mobile assassins, both from ionia, and hated to some extent by the community, and extremely powerful and broken in the right hands,

Rengar and Khazix have 2 very distinct diffrences.It always depends on the enemies position.
While Rengar can always output his maximum damage no matter the enemies position he cant jump on his own unless the enemy changes to thier position to suit Rengar
While Khazix can jump on his own whenever he wants,he cant always output maximum damage if the enemies are positioned correctly.
1 always has maximum damage but relies on the enemies to get in his range and the other can jump on command but relies on the enemies to split from each other to output maximum damage.
Positioning either trades off Your mobility or Your damage you just which one suits you best

Oh boy I remember when Khaz was released and getting the event to trigger was SUCH a thrill. I managed to get an enemy Khaz head while playing Rengar and that last skrmish has me shaking in my seat, given how significant it was at the time. I managed to get a 4 evo point once too, but that was rather more of an accident than intention because the enemy wasn't really that good and I killed him by accident when I jumped another champion.
Anyway, nostalgia aside, I like Khaz mobility more than I like Rengar damage(the gods forbid the monster that was AP Rengar back in the day).
Fun Easter egg is that they are probably a Alien vs Predator reference. KZ is an obvious alien-like chitinous carapace being like the Xenomorph, and Rengar even has the dreadlocks like the Predator 😋
imo this is the best executed rivalry in league, due to a few reasons, abilities and in game bonuses matching the lore, for example 4th evolution is indeed the perfect evolution, both champion has similarly issued abilities such as a skillshot slow, invisible, jumping but executed in ways that make them very unique, utilizing the competition of evolution champions and empower champions, and just makes you feel that the fight is really there, with the end determined to be one of you dying

Despite liking Rengar better in a purely aesthetic level I have to give the cake to Kha'Zix. As you already mentioned, his consistency and adaptability win out over Rengars raw damage potential. Kha also has a fair amount of build versatility though. Bruiser Kha with Eclipse + Black Cleaver is very much viable. It's not a tanky as Goredrinker into DD but it's far more durable than his usual Duskblade builds.
Actually you can go goerdrinker into dd with kha to but than you shouöd play conqouree its a realy diffrent play still and one off the best players on the eu server play kha like that

I'm a ride or die mantis player, he's been my one true fallback since his release and I love him to bits. So I'll always prefer Kha'Zix over Rengar. Your point in consistency was spot on, and it's part of why I prefer him over knife cat
He’s always been more reliable, Rengar’s strength is that he will kill you no matter what, he’s better in clutch situations and has ridiculous outplay potential in the brush. The problem with him is his lack of neutral and inability to support his team, Kha with evolved W and bruise itemization can setup his team, Rengar is a champion that needs to carry or he’s useless.
Yea, khazix can stick to one role and fulfill it perfectly, but being effective with rengar demands that you be versed in the roles of tank, assassin and fighter as he can sorta fill all shoes if he doesn't carry.
Something I noticed in this comment section is a lot of people suggesting episodes on two champions that are pretty much only related in the lore and not through the gameplay itself, which I feel is the main point of this series. An example of what I mean is Renekton and Nasus: despite their lore being very tied to each other, they were designed to be somewhat opposites in how they are played.

It's good to know that khazix is a concious being with the intent to kill rengar to make himself the apex predator and not just a mindless voidborn insect (which was all i thought throughout the years)

imo Jinx and Jhin have the coolest duality of marksmen. Their abilities are pretty damn similar, but their passives couldn't be more different. Waveclear and range on Q, long range thin skillshot with cc, traps that can root(it sets up jhin's W well) and a long range execute damage ulti. Their passives put them on the complete opposite sides of the marksmen spectrum
Counter point: if you took Eclipse or Divine Sunderer and a Suryldas Grudge, then built bruiser/assassin whatever your choice was for Rengar, you're basically doing true damage with 11% MORE ad if you kill Khazix

They should add the wildrift even mechanic between nasus and renekton
Where under certain condition in the late game the event would activate. And the first one to kill each other gets a buff on their skills. Nasus’s q turns has aoe, while renek stays full rage while in ult.
Kha already has something similar. He gets the fourth evolution. Idk what Rengar gets haha

The fact that you have to claw your way out of a fight with Rengar makes it that much harder to play imho, he doesn't have that many ways of going in and out of a fight like Kha does, Rengar is my favorite champion out of the two.
But sadly I have to admit that kha is just the more consistent champion and it takes less hard work to carry with him, I also miss the days where the champions had beef like this that was also expressed ingame, like the three sisters challenge that gave you a crown, or the rewards for hunting each other down as Rengar and kha, I wished there was an interaction like that between maybe zeri and renata glasc, or viego and senna, or volibear and ornn and anivia

I love my bladed kitty but i have to admit kha zix is a better assassin. He fits in the whole "in kill out" gimick where as rengar is more "in and kill them all" or "in kill fountain" but the sattisfaction when you jump on kha zix and turn on his greyscale filter before he can even press a button is something else.

I’m disappointed he missed the Alien vs Predator reference of this 2 champions. They were clearly design to be those 2 pop culture icons lookalike that fight each other.
