The cable lube widget you showcased is okay I guess for cables in really good shape. I’ve got a few, never had much luck with em. You are very correct about servicing cables b4 they go bad or seize. Lemme share this awesome tip shown to me by McManus Cycle in Eldorado Arkansas. Remove cable at the lever on the handlebars(or any origin like a throttle cable ect.) take a zip lock bag, cut the corner out of one side just large enough to get your cable into the bag, then seal the bag around the cable with rubber bands and/or zip ties. At this point you can rig something overhead to tie the bag up in the air. Put motor oil in the bag and seal it(not a lot prob 3-4 oz) let it be over night and you’ll find a small puddle at the other end. The cable will be slicker than owl sh%t and will remain lubricated for a long time. Penetrating oil will work too but it doesn’t hang around as long as mtr oil. This trick has saved me a ton over the years! Thanks and good video
I've had one of those cable living tools for years but I never got it to work as well as you demonstrated, awesome man!
A friend just gave me a 90(I think) 300. Sticker in front of ATV shows 1990 but owners manual shows 1996. The first thing I am doing is making sure the engine will run. Carb cleaning is the first thing I am going to do, then the front CV joints. I think the rear axle may be messed up. Thanks for you very detailed videos. They are great and will save me a lot of money by doing the work my self.
your videos are top notch D-Ray
Great video. answered a lot of questions. Thanks for the tip on the cable luber. Just ordered one. Take care and be safe.
Hello from Moutian View, AR.. Great video series.. You're a true asset to youtube.
Thanks dude! I am likely to have to tend to my axle at some point soon :) This is a good confidence boost :)
Thanks Donald, that was a big help!
Great series!
I learned a hellva lot from this, i gotta rebearing my 400 EX soon.
thank you very much! you are an excellent teacher.
plain talk about important matters makes it so anybody can do it!
thanks again!
Great series, great instructor! My TRX300FW has a bent rear axle so it's coming apart. What sized and brand is that hydraulic press?
how would u sajest i do that with out a press or taking the axle off
Hi and thank you very much for the information. Nicely done. Just one question. Did you ever think about the pressure you are putting on the balls when you press the bearing into the housing, pushing on the inner race? That can actually put flat spots on the balls in there, depending on how much pressure is used. I was always taught that one should never push on the balls or rollers when pressing a bearing in. One needs to just find a big enough socket to fit the outer race and push on that.
I have a Honda rancher 350 2wd I'm going to service this spring. Is it the same as the 300? I know the brake drums are located right behind the tire but same concept? Thanks. Great vid!
I don’t have a press am I going to have to take it somewhere to get the old bearing out and the new bearing in
Great video! What kind of anti seize compound are you using? Does it matter? Thanks!
U help me a lot just watching a video of a rear end replace ment
Having trouble finding the seal that you put in at 6:30. The wheel seal. Any help would be appreciated
when pressing abearing in you want to press on the race that is the interference fit, in this csse the outer.
That’s what I thought when I saw it, But this one went on easy so probably not an issue.
Great video!!Thank you so much! I watched your video and was able to change the bearings and fix the brakes on my boys 4 wheeler with no problems. ..so for the guys who laughed at me when I said I would fix it myself...maybe you should watch D-Ray's video so you could learn how instead of the boys mom!haha!! Thanks again for your video!
I gotta replace the rear axle bearings in my kids honda trx 250ex...Couldn't find any videos on it so i was checking this one to see if it was similar....Then i recognized you from ashley's channel... Capt. John
@draywanda sounds good man!
D-Ray I am attempting to change my seals in the rear of my 2000 Honda Rancher Es because it leaks a little when it sit is there a tool I can purchase to remove the bearing from the axle I do not have a press thanks, if anyone know of a tool for this can you please reply
Very easy to understand
what size bearing is it? only one i can find on my parts website is in the final gear drive which is a (43x68x13) or honda part # 91051-HC4-003. is it the same one for the one you replaced?
Thank you for pointing out that there is no shoulder the outer race pushes against when pressing the bearing in. I thought I point that out because people do all kind of things and by simply pushing on the outer race that will never happen. I do not know how tight that is in your case and how much pressure it takes. I have pressed in many bearings on cars and they are tight in that steering knuckle. Now ... if there is no shoulder, what holds that axle from going left to right?
thanks was at wits end on getting the drum off and found ur videojust about got the torch out..lol thanks
Need to do a video about clutchs on the 300
U got a name of that cable tool or place i can get one
Hold the phone man this video is awesome alot of help BUT the rear end is a little different on mine so so I didn't pay attention and now sitting here I see that the brake goes on one side it has space for the bearing to sit an not on the other side same on the one i pulled out 🤔 im doing as total rebuild new everything 😁 ill be checking out more of your videos thanks for the help an info !!!
Ol boy got it goin on
Hello. Great videos! Got a couple questions? How hard is it to change the bearings in the differential. The other side on the same machine. My only concern with my wheeler is the break drum cover was filled with dirt and water. The outermost seal on the left side is still good. Do you think I should change them? Also the reverse shifter, oil seal is leaking oil. Do I have to take the whole engine cover off to replace that or just use a pry tool like some of the videos I see on RUclips and push another one in?
Jay Benett nice profile pic
hell yea I'll sure be orderin me the cable luber for the harley!!!
just did the on on my z400, looked the exact same as your bearing that exploded.
Where do you get your parts?
Whats the number (size) of the bearing?
How much do you think this repair would cost at a shop
good mechanic
D-ray, I would've loved hearing you scream like a little girl! I need a good laugh!
@draywanda i wasn't trying to be ignorant but you don't press a bearing in on the inner race you just don't.
Just wat thing you use anti seize I got it all over me lol
how much do you charge for this?
What a pro
Can you give me the link for you got the bearing
Me too just need the numbers off bearing
Weres D-Ray at now days
love that word boogerbear

is wd 40 fine for the cables?
you never ever press a bearing in on the inner race ever!!!! you will destroy the bearing!
Good video. How many ton press do you suggest?
