I love how BMW interiors limit piano black plastics. They use textured/lighter designs so you can't see dirt/dust as easily and does not scratch as easily.
i got a brand new M2C last october, one of the last left in the AUS. I regret nothing after seeing this car. Granted its just the M240, and not the new M2...
Love the proportions and styling of the G42, I think it’s a huge overall improvement over the F22. However, will Aus be getting the RWD version? If so it should lose some weight on the front axle as well as improve steering feel
Optioning the Tire & Cooling package ("Pro Pack" in AUS?) will increase the size of the front tires to 245, which should also improve the steering feel as well as add more of that sought-after front-end bite. And the tires will be Michelin PS4s instead of crummy Pirellis. :D
Everyone is comparing this to RS3's and A45's. This is NOT a direct rival. they are AMG and RS models. This is an M lite. It's rivals are the S3 and A35, which is far superior to any of them. The M2 is a direct rival to those RS and AMG models. It is not a direct comparison.
That’s true. The only problem with that theory, though, is that Audi Australia has priced the RS3 at $92K, which makes it a direct rival with the $90K M240i on price terms. That gives buyers a lot to think about.
It performs comparable to the RS and AMG cars, though; the M will absolutely smoke them. It's the same way with the larger cars, too, where the M440i seems to nearly match the RS5 and then the M4 completely dismantles the Audi. And the C63? Isn't even in the conversation anymore. It's a weird thing to say, but BMW offers some stunning value in the segment.
I've got the previous gen M240i (F22 LCI) and honestly feel this is a bit of a departure from the essence of that car. Many reasons for this but fundamentally the change of platform to the CLA, because they created the FWD 1 Series and 2 CG, I understand. The weight, width, AWD and styling don't outweigh the benefits of 35kws from the same B58 (tu) and few interior niceties to justify the price. Let's hope they don't ruin the new M2...
It is a departure from the character of the old car, but rather than ‘ruin’ a car they’ve made it very good in a different way. Perhaps more subdued when driven slowly, but you very quickly bond with the sophisticated new chassis. Quite likeable indeed.
I think BMWs lucky that a brand like Hyundai isn't competing directly in the market, I can imagine a 2 door i30 sedan N for 30k less with the same DNA as this 2 series on paper, just a shame they're moving away from the combustion engine.
Having owned this car for several months, I can assure you its a brilliant brilliant car.
Great to hear Ryan, I’m about to order one. With the Cognac seats.. which did you get?
it's now gotten iDrive8 if you look on the website.
@@aksahdev01 have to wait for the Australian website to have the update but the dealership said this is what we will get. The updated one! 🤗🤗🤗
No doubt that’s an amazing car… but I’m still in love with the previous gen 240 convertible.

I enjoyed watching the Video Review. I the New Design and definitely more Stylish
Manual gearbox please BMW

How can you like that back end
@@lucadreier22 test drove one a couple of weeks ago. When I saw it in person it looked good. But looks are subjective.

Beautiful car
How tall is this guy? What is driver seat headroom like?
really love bmw 2 doors with 6 cyclinders..
Yes test bs RS3, however with wider Michelin tyres in performance pack

Ah that is a fair point. I'm in the UK and the RS3 is being flipped for 70k meanwhile one of these is 47k fully spec'd. Makes sense then!

Love the colour

For someone who never owned a BMW before and is looking forward to getting one. I'm tired of hearing that the interior is same old BMW 😂
No manual option is a real letdown for a car of this size
Yeah. Apparently the take rate was very low on the previous one. Globally.
Great car indeed but for me this front look is personal from customer perspective
True. Design is subjective.

I moved from an M140i to this, I can say it is a hugely improved car. The fun factor is definitely still there, it’s just a different fun factor
But do you like the colour? 😂
Great review as always.

Hyundai bullshit you are aggravating your franfurt
I've never ever been physically worried about a new car before. Ever. Seems a non human thing to say.
Previous gen M2 was one the best looking BMW'S ever Imo, this one? Not so much
It’s growing on us
Your blind, one of the best looking cars they’ve made in the last 10 years
@@rsyuh5094 thanks mate

Big price hike for a car that is heavier, uglier, has worse headroom in the rear, and isn't RWD. I'm sure it's faster but I'd prefer the old one
i challenge anyone getting this car for $93k driveway as indicated here.
pricing is a joke with every car now
Your not wrong there. One web site has it listed for "Drive away from $98,881".
@@birreboi almost a 100k for a 2 series, no matter how good, is absolutely laughable. I predict you will NOT see a lot of these on the road.
@@lucadreier22 To be fair, I don't see a lot of the previous generation on the road, either.
We don't have that kind of pricing in the US
Wow
BMW includes the ebay taillights as standard 😂
It's not as cute as the old M2 :(
boring
