How To: Winterize Supra or Moomba boat with Indmar Assault 325
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 28 окт 2017
- Step by step video on how to perform a dry winterization for the Indmar Assault 325 motor. I have used this method for the past 4 years, and live in a climate that sees single digits regularly. This method may be applicable to other makes and models as well, but this was done on my 2006 Supra 20v. Feel free to ask any questions in the comments and I'll do my best to answer them. Don't mind the video of my pocket towards the end... skip through that.

I winterized my 2014 Tige R20 with the same engine as your boat. I did it with the help of your video. I hope everything will be good because it's cold here in Canada
Afterward I put prestone through the J pipe and in the cooler of the V Drive.
Thanks for your time doing this video.
Glad it helped
4 years later and still winterizing the same boat with this same method... no issues!
Sweet, so anti freeze is not needed then!
This is a very well put together video with a lot of invaluable information. I really appreciate the time you spent to share this with the world.
Glad it helped, thanks for watching!
Recently bought a 2008 Supra Launch and was PLEASED to see how similar my boat is to yours in this video. I think it is super helpful and appreciate your time putting it together. Thank you!
Glad it helped man, thanks for the kind words
Thanks for taking the time to make this video. Just knocked this out on my 2005 Supra 21v launch. Procedure was virtually identical.
Thanks for watching! Please consider subscribing to my channel if it was helpful.
Man thanks for taking the time to show us this. Much appriciated
You bet!
That is such a useful video. It has saved many people lots of money. Thanks again.
Glad it was helpful, and thanks for watching. Please consider liking/subscribing to help my channel!
Finally a good video for winterizing. Thank you very much!
Glad it was helpful
Excellent video and thank you for sharing! Saved me some money and turns out winterizing really isn't too bad for DIY. Freakin' awesome!
Easy peasy
Thank you for taking the time. Great video, I will be doing this, this weekend. Very helpful.
Glad I could help!
Good video, one suggestion is to reinstall the plugs it will keep your block from rusting on the threads
Certainly an option. I just hit the holes with a wire brush real quick in the spring (if I even do that). Haven't really had problems. You can also coat the threads with some oil or grease. I like to keep the plugs out when I winterize because I store my boat off-site and winterize at my house. When I drive the boat back to storage going up and down hills, I want any water that may not have drained to be able to escape while driving.
First timer. Thanks for this; alleviated all the uncertainty. Would suggest also doing the following: 1) Remove V-drive water drain plug. A lot of water came out. 2) Disconnect the starboard side v-drive hose, not port side. SBoard side will drain from the impeller. (So you don’t need to struggle with that hard to reach impeller hose). 3) Lastly, run the bilge. 1.5 pails of water were collected. Will reduce chance of mold & mildew.
Do you know where the water drain plug for these ZF v drive is? First timer too… I can’t seem to find it, there’s one big plug down there but isn’t that the drain for the trans oil??
I dont, sorry.
Antifreeze helps push trapped water pockets out. Add a little thru the top of J hose with block plugs out/open. When u see the RV antifreeze come out most likely you’ve pushed all the little water pockets out if there were any. Also the antifreeze sitting inside the block helps cut down on internal rust.
Yep, benefits to antifreeze for sure.
This was extremely helpful. Thank you for taking time to help out the community!
Compressed air had good results in clearing the hoses. I did drain the V-drive and there was a considerable amount of water, more than i’d feel comfortable leaving to freeze. My 05’ Supra 21v had a strainer to the v-drive as well that was clogged with pine needles.
Thanks again, great job. 👍🏼
You bet!
Thank you very much for doing this. I have a Moomba Mobius LSV with the same exact engine. Gonna give it a try this year on my own. Cheers.
Thanks for watching. Shoot me a like/sub if it was helpful please!
Nice and good video. Thanks.
Thanks for watching!
Great video and thanks!!!
Glad it helped, thanks for watching!
Great video - thanks - I believe the advantage of anti freeze is also rust prevention
That is a consideration, as it does help prevent corrosion. I'm still using this method every year and it's working great. There's certainly no problem using anti-freeze, it's just an extra step that I don't use.

@@MikeZimmermanOfficial since commenting I discovered green laws have had the anti rust forumlation removed from anti-freeze so it's not that helpful anymore - I just drain it now.
Was that last part your phone in your pocket 😂. Great video! Thanks for filming this.
Yes sir! Must have pushed record on accident and didn't catch it when connecting all the videos together. #reallife
I have a 2007 Mobius LSV. I think I can follow this exactly. Thanks!
Yep, should be good to go!
With your batteries that works well with trickle to one and have jumpers to other battery
Not sure I understand your question, but yes I have the batteries wired in parallel (makes them 1 large battery) then I just connect the charger terminals to one of the batteries terminals. Also, still have these same batteries, they're from 2012. Still going strong.
Hi so I have an 05 supra you don't need to run antifreeze in that ballast system just un hook everything and your good to go ?
Correct... just drain all the water out of the lines.
Thanks for the video

Going to try and do this next year and save some $$. Have you ever done the fluid changes (engine oil, trans and V drive)? I would be very interested in seeing those done. Thanks again!
I have, yes. Pretty straight forward if you have a vacuum pump to suck fluid out. Just suck it out, and replace it with the correct spec/volume of the fluid you're chaning.
Awesome video thank you! I just bought a 2006 21v. Could you make one of the fogging process?
I meant to do this, and apologize for not having done so. It's pretty straight forward, just pull the spark arrestor off, and spray engine fogging spray directly into the throttle body. You'll hear the motor bog down. After spraying for a 5 seconds or so, if it doesn't kill your motor, just shut the motor off and you're done.
Great video dude. Thanks a lot!
Glad it was helpful.
Thank you!
Do you use antifreeze and if so can you explain?
I do not use anti-freeze... I just drain all the water out and leave all hoses/plus disconnected
Thanks for the video. Super helpful. Just purchased a 2008 Moomba mobius lsv. Do you have any videos on changing oil, transmission, vdrive??
Thanks for watching. Not yet, but I can video that maintenance next time I swap the fluids!
Shoot me a like/sub if it was helpful, and stay current on future videos please!
I have the same engine with exact same flame arrestor. After loosening the clamp, it wiggle and spins freely, but I CANNOT get it off. I feel like a dummy! is there any trick to it?? I'm worried that if I wiggle/pull and harder, I', gonna break it. Any tips appreciated
Pull harder, up away from the engine.
Great video. How do you summarize it before putting it back into the water?
Just reattach all the hoses, put the block and muffler plugs back in, reattach ballast hoses, put batteries back, etc.
Essentially reverse of this video.
Very helpful. 1st season with a Mastercraft X2, so it’ll be my first winterization. Any chance of a follow up servicing video?
Adrian, I’m curious if you did your X2 yourself. I have an X2 also and wondering how it worked out for you. I think I’m going to try it myself this year. Thanks!
@@mikefriederichs3432 Hi Mike, yes I did all the maintenance myself and winterised it myself. I did up a check sheet to follow, if you want to PM me I can email over to you. It's fairly simple to follow. I have summarised below
> Raw water pump - Remove impeller + Remove upper & lower hose
> Disconnect j-hose
> Disconnect heat hoses from engine & blow through to remove water
> Port/starboard manifold: Disconnect brass hose connector & drain
> Muffler: Remove drain bolt
> Block plugs: Remove both Port & starboard brass block drain plugs
> Ballast pumps: Pump out tanks, disconnect pump hoses
> Battery: Remove battery
> Drain Billage
> Clean out sea strainer
I didn't stabilise the fuel, I just drained the tank which worked quite well.
Hope this helps. I might have photos if your stuck. But I've since sold the X2 and bough a sports cruiser. I also have the MC manual which details the winterisation process, helpful as has a few illustrations.
Glad it was helpful
Great video. Thanks for sharing. Looking to purchase first boat and looking moombas. Curious your dimensions on your storage unit? How high is the garage door clearance and width?
Storage is 26ft deep, 10 wide, 10 high. I have to put the tower down by a few inches with the 10' door.
Great video! I’m going to try winterizing for my first time this year in Michigan. Is this style of winterization applicable for this region? If not, I heard you mention putting everything back together and running anti freeze through it. If I did this, would I only need to add antifreeze to the j hose?
You should be fine winterizing dry. I'm in Kansas City, and we regularly have below freezing weather. Not Michigan below freezing, but still quite cold for long periods of time and my boat is stored in the sheds you see in the background where there's no climate control.
After putting my boat back together do I need to do anything else to it before I put it in the water? Is it ok to start the boat with no water in the blocks etc...thank you again for the video! Learned a lot last fall winterizing it on my own.
What kind of ballist system you have?
It's just the stock ballast that came in the boat. Uses a single inlet pump that distributes to 3 bags via sprinkler valves and solenoids.
They call it the Gravity III ballast system.
Little slow explaining
20 minutes seems like a reasonable amount of time to learn how to winterize your boat, but what do I know...?
