Thanks for sharing! A bit of 411 for those considering purchase: -Same model available through AliExpress, sold by "Yong Heng Shop Store" for $100 cheaper, if you figure in shipping not mentioned...received 13 days after placing order, in perfect condition. Well packaged and ease of communication/tracking. You do have to register for tracking & status info. -The "tampon" filter element does actually filter/retain water (should replace every 30 min run time). I've added a second identical filter/hose assembly for $21, which I fill with 13x micro sieve desiccant ($24)...I switch tampon & replace desiccant every other tank fill for about 25 cents cost. -To clarify, the "other " bleeder knob is to bleed air/water from 1st stage air chamber -To clarify, the burst disc fitting is actually in the 2nd stage air chamber rather than 1st, as indicated -A good practice during run time is to crack bleeders every 5 to 10 minutes to expel condensation -A good practice is to open both bleeders before switching on, then close after startup and reverse process on shut off to avoid compression load on motor and components. Kinda like starting your car in gear...no Bueno. -A good practice is to change the hydraulic fluid after, say about 1st 40 minute run time or one tank top off..."break in period". I don't assume this is done at manufacturer. -For maximum cooling, do not recirculate water to bucket. I leave my discharge hose out of the bucket and let the shop sink faucet fill to maintain or exceed level. I have never had head temperature over 43 degrees/20 minute run time using this method...it works better than ice and less hassle. -Fills 97 cf tank from 2800 to 4500 in 42 minute run time excluding (2) 15 minute rests. -With a little research and book marks, I found all replacement/rebuild components available for dirt cheap. For example, $41 for a complete 1st and 2nd stage cylinder/piston/head/connecting rod/rings/seals assembly.
Air Velocity Sport can you tell me 1) how it has held up to date? 2) Can it fill to 4500psi? ...because you say you fill to only 41-4200psi. 3) any issue running it in reg. avg u.s. household outlet? Thanks in advance
It's doing great so far. 3 months about 30 fills to 4200 psi. Yes I have filled to 4500psi twice but I prefer to fill to 4200psi. No reason just my preference.
I got some good use of mine and it works brilliantly A few good pointers is to use distilled water with regular coolant fluid for aluminum motors Else the aluminum compressor head will be pitted pretty quickly inside, dissolve the aluminum Also let the compressor run freely for at least two whole minutes before starting to pressurize as the piston and cylinder actually needs to get up to working temperature to work best as possible and wear down as little as possible, just think of it like a regular aluminum combustion engine, it is just the same. The water separator you can get to be installed after the compressor, you can get one rather cheap online for just this model of compressor, it is actually just a cylinder that the compressed air gets through the top of and the water then flows down and slowly fills this cylinder the once in a while you just bleed out this cylinder/tank at the bottom and you can also do this with the big tanks if you have a manual valve, just hold the valve downwards and bleed out the water before usage That is pretty much it, use as good quality oil as possible and this will also help with the compression effectiveness of the compressor. I hope you then gets as happy as i do Sorry for my bad English, i don't know the proper English word for what the effect regular tap water has on aluminum as coolant, but grey white scales grows out from the dissolved aluminum and impact the lifespan and cooling performance of the compressor head greatly
I have owned one of these for almost two years now. Still working fine. Have the Brancato air filter. Joe is an engineer and he knows what he is talking about. I have stopped using the recommended hydraulic oil in the Yong Heng and am now using Royal Purple air pump oil. The noise the pump makes quieted down and the temperature also dropped by over 20C.
Nice detail on the setup and different components. I appreciate the way you zoomed in on detail areas like the pressure relief screws, how you set the shut-off pressure, etc.
I didn’t read all the other comments so someone may have touched on this. I have the Omaga air charger. If you open the bleed valve on the compressor about every 10 min and let a blast out most of the water comes out befor it reaches the tank. As the air cools the water condenses. As the air goes from the thin tube to the bigger chamber where the Bleed valve is located. It cools and condenses for the first time. That is why the bleed valve is below the air hose connection. So you can open it occasionally while filling is in process to a evacuate the water. Hope this helps. I wish I would have bought that one instead of the 1,300 on the Omaga. Great video.
I just got mine today and it's perfect for my needs (filling paintball hpa tanks). I only need to have it on for maybe 5 mins at a time to fill my 2 tanks and so far it's worked great, of course I've only used it once but it exceeded my expectations for simplicity and how it worked.
@Air Velocity Sport - As an FYI, I bought two of the SCBA Fill Stations/fill probes from China and found an issue with both that needed to be addressed. Within a week of using one of the units the pressure gauge would not go back to zero after releasing pressure. It would only reset back to 500psi. While replacing the gauge I noticed bits of burred metal shavings and after closer inspection found that the fitting the CGA347, the gauge, and the whip attaches to was semi-blocked with more burred metal shavings.Additionally, I unscrewed the pressure release valve and found even more metal pressed into the nylon / teflon tip. I then took apart the second SCBA Fill Station/fill probe and found the same mess except my pressure gauge had not been affected yet. So I cleaned everything up and used a bass-side "E" string from an acoustic guitar to clear all passages in both Fill Stations/fill probes and then compressed air to blow everything out and reassembled. I don't know yet if any metal made it's way to the SCBA tank or guns. Anyway, just a heads up. Also, while I'm thinking about it, the reason I bought two units was to use one for filling the tank - same as you do, and the other for filling the guns. However, I removed the hose on the one I use for filling the tank and installed a "one-way" 1/8 NPT male fill nipple for $10 ( www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CSBDGIM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ). This eliminates having to manually equalize the pressure between the pump and the tank before filling the tank and it works great. Take care.
Your videos are the best on YT. Most are like "well, I just got this compressor yesterday and now I'll show you how to use it. Ohh no, this doesn't fit, hold on ...." Watched this three times already and finally have all the parts to fill my 10Liter bottle. Watching it one more time just to be sure. Thank you so much!
I just purchased the Venturi Nomad 2. $699 PYRAMYDAIR. Just getting into this PCP Hobby and ordered the Hatsan NeutronStar 25 cal as well. Can't wait to get it. Great video and hope to see you doing more Reviews.. 👌📹
@@Allworldsk1 love it. Not a single hiccup. Ive lost count how many times I used it and it hasn't failed me. Regularly replace the oil and thats all you need to worry about.
Actually your de-watering method of inverting the tank and bleeding it out is works very well. At very high pressure the water vapor condenses out of the air at higher temperatures. Thanks for sharing this video.
I wouldn't recommend using ice in the water bucket to help with cooling. Here is my reasoning for why: As I am sure you are aware metal will expand and contract when the temperature is changed and if the change is too aggressive it can even crack like putting a hot glass in cold water. When pumping ice cold water through the cylinder head the cold water is going to cause the metal to want to contract. The piston on the other hand is going to be generating a lot of heat due to friction and want to expand. If the cylinder contracts or gets smaller and the piston expands or gets larger this is going to create more friction on the cylinder walls and possibly cause compression issues down the road. Although the pump does run hot it really shouldn't be an issue as long as the water flow continues. If you are concerned about the water temperature just use a larger source of water but I would definitely avoid sudden temperature changes in the middle of a pumping cycle. Just a perspective to consider. Thanks for taking the time to make a review video!
Thank you Anthony. That makes sense to me. Before starting my pump I run cold water for a few minutes while I set things up then drop a block of ice about a square foot into a 5 gallon bucket and start the pump immediately. As the temp of the top cylinder trys to rise it's gradually offset by the metaling ice my temp stays around 35 to 45C. What do thing about using coolant? Many people have asked me.
I agree with huntjunky1, I use the same method, I have a similar compressor for over a year now, one thing, if starts not filling up to the desire pressure or not passing above certain pressure, it is just the second stage "brown rings" that have to be changed, sure you see on the spare parts sent with it, also you can buy for very cheap a packet of 10 for replacement in the future. That only happened to my after lots of hours of use, after a year. I suggest o put a extra water trap/desiccant to avoid getting on your gun/bottle. These compressor are very easy to maintain, repair, once you learn how they works, very simple and plenty parts available for cheap. Nice review!!
Yes you are correct about your selected tanks. My concern is for the well being of the public unawares of using SCUBA tanks as you mentioned having a dive shop filling your tank. Also, if the dive shop is honest and they are checking the tanks for certification and your tank does not have one - no fill. Be safe and do not try shortcuts.
Great video. As someone who has pumped high pressure air for over twenty years for Scuba diving, I thought I would inform you of a few things. - The second valve you didn't know what it does is probably a water separator dump valve. - Your SCBA tank valve probably has a "dip tube" or "snorkel tube", so holding the tank upside down may not remove all the water. I would highly recomend a descicant filter to absorb water. - You should be very careful of high pressure air hoses, they can move at super sonic speeds if they fail. Just trying to be helpful.
Glenn McFland thank you for the insight. Usually open both bleed valves after filling. I have noticed a few drops of water from that second lower bleed valve. Thanks. How can we protect ourselves from those hoses that may fail and move at supersonic speeds? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Air Velocity Sport I would open the water trap valve first to allow the air to push the water out. On larger systems, a water trap would be opened several times during the pumping process. As far as the hose, distance is your friend. Keeping the hose short is a good idea. There are "tethered" or "sheilded" hoses, but they are really expensive. You seem to be well informed and my goal is to add to your knowledge base and keep people safe.. Open the water trap valve first and see if you can add some descicant inside that little filter. This might work to control water vapor. Allowing water into the cylinder isn't good. High pressure air is deceptively dangerous, please stress that to your viewers.
@ Air Velocity Sport - I've tried a couple of methods to help protect myself from the potential death-blow of an air hose. One method I've tried is to use an old sock or two as a protective tube covering the quick connect fittings and then use a zip tie on each end of the sock. In this manner the sock prevents the hose from whipping around too much if something gives. Although it can still jump around to some minor degree. Another method I've tried is to use velcro straps in conjunction with a small stationary square of plywood with pre-drilled holes to secure the hoses just behind the hose connection fittings on both sides (or ends). This method is by far more secure but is a little more cumbersome.
The important thing to remember is that not all hoses and fittings are created equal. Think hydraulic, not plumbing. Fittings from Home Depot won't work. Companies like Parker, Swadgelock, and Western Safety are good resources.
When I release the air line from a mere 200psi compressor, it snaps quite fast. But also the volume of air is important. In a manual pump the volume is small but not sure what would happen if the line failed A motorcycle helmet might be a good idea when working with these
I wanted to share this with you in case you or others had not seen it, and if so if you had any opinon or information on its quality. You are probably aware, but I just saw it today and thought you might find it usefull, and thought I would take a chance that there might be one thing you don't know about airguns. :-) This is a 12V 300 BAR, portable, vehicle mounted compressor. This compressor does not require oil, and even better, it does not require water. From what I gather they can do this because they use a high-pressure piston ring made out of high grade aluminum, rather than rubber, which is what the water cooled compressors use to my understanding. They also have a cooling jacket 360 degrees around all the cylinders, which combats the heat. They basically took the cooling system of a combustion engine and made a bore bridge between the first and second cylinders which runs the circumfrence of all the cylinders. It's pretty ingenious. Although it can pump to 300 BAR, they recommend stopping at 250 BAR to prolong the piston ring cylinder and seals. Anyway, appreciate any input you folks might have about this compressor. www.1ct1c.com/product/no-4-generation-vehicle-mounted-12v-300bar-compressor/
I want to say you have a good video very thorough . I own the same air compressor that you do . I will eventually get the Diablo filter from airguns of Arizona . I do the same thing as you do to help with the water moisture . It's made in China just like the air Venturi is. It's a lot of the same component parts it just has one piston not two like the air Venturi . I have the big 98 CC carbon fiber tank from Air Venturi , when I feel it from 3500 PSI to 4700 PSI it takes around 25 minutes. For anyone that's looking and easy way to fill their tanks at an affordable price this is the way to go .
Tomcat airguns just did a video where he cut open an scba tank and on the valve there is a stem about 4” long according to him you can’t tip the tank to drain water unless there is at least enough to cover the stem I got the yong heng and love it. Great video. Thanks
i recently welded a compartment on the side and added a resovior and i used a radiator for a water cooled cpu and ran 2 120 mm fans putting out the side of the box and used a inline pump (also for a water cooled computer) and all the fittings and lines have been redone with 1/4 hydraulic hose with crimped an fittings so everything is more reliable. if you want to do this basically just look up how to water cool a pc and pretend the cylinder on your compressor is the cpu block. also alot of napa auto parts can crimp you hydraulic hoses if you decide to go that route but just regular line and clamps work to
i appreciate your time and ideas that raise the level of safety as well as information for the new airgunners.Ihave used many of your ideas that actually work more efficient than store bought items.good job
Hi, you Sir have just saved my bacon! i bought an Ejoyous high pressure air pump, which looks 90% comparable to yours for £133 quid off of amazon, delivered...(im in the UK). i just set it up with my dad, but the instructions whilst in colour pictures were not really complete enough to properly comprehend how it all works...this video has helped me out no end! for instance i didnt know what oil to use and now i know its hydraulic oil no 46 :) i wasnt sure where you plugged in the temperature sensor rod, but now i get it... great video! thanks a lot...
By the way, on the digital display for the temp you can change from C to F, just remove the blue cover and there is a little button on the unit that you can switch from C to F or vice versa
I've just bought another version of these pcp compressor, the 12 volt one for 500 usd without even researching (because you can use your car battery)... only then i started browsing and find your video.. Thank you, this is the best video on this subject.. but man.. i'm second guessing my choice now.. well, I guess I have to buy another one.. lol
The red thing you were pointing at is a rated pressure relief safety valve. It will release (pop) pressure if pressure reaches and exceed a certain value (usually engraved on valve). To anybody going the SCBA route. Unlike scuba tanks, SCBA tanks have an expiration date and CANNOT be recertified. Most shops will not refill them past expiration. If you plan on using it past expiration date you'll have to buy a compressor or hand pump capable of 4500psi.
You have any tanks that are past 30 years that you still use? I figure if you take the valve off and it looks good inside keep on using it? I wonder if they will still hydrostatically test it, but not certify it
@Technie87 Very good question on hydro testing. I have several SCBA tanks that have now expired. I'd be worried about them feeling obligated to destroy the tanks or some hidden regulation that mandates they destroy expired tanks in their possession. You got me curious now. When I get time, I will call the company I've used to see what they say.
Jon Dee I know right! I don't understand all the dislikes on this video. His Info is good and true and his videos are well put together. Some People just are assmunchers lol... Aw well, He still has far more likes regardless.
nice video i got the same regulator $45.00 for my scott 45cf tank i found on ebay for like 115.00 with a good hydro to 2023 an the tank is good to 2021 ,they wan to make these tanks good for 30 years, $1200,00 is what these tanks cost for a new one ,so got it an my holder an electric pump are on the way,yes the pump can now new had for $225.00 on ebay
Lots of good information. I’m starting to get interested in air gunning after many years of doing a lot of other types of recreational shooting. When I used to shoot air guns the best available was the German springers and you could get a good one for about 500$ Canadian around 1980. With the cold Canadian winters inside basement shooting when it’s -25c outside is really appealing. Thank you for making these vids , An excellent source of practical information so I can make a better selection of equipment and enjoy the hobby more. Happy shooting !
Hey I just rechecked out this Video cause im getting really close to going for The Yong Heng, and I just noticed and wanted to say, If youre still using the same fill adapter to fill the tank that you could get a ~1/8"NPT M Foster One Way Check Valve w/Gas Filter~ from AliEx or Elsewhere from $5-$10 that would take the whole having to equalize out of play plus add one more small layer of filtration to keep out dirt, lent, etc... Also you can get Fill Nipple dust covers from The Oring Store on Amazon/eBay for like $8-Qty:10 I love them on all my fill nipples to keep them clean inside. (((Oh And I ended up getting the fill adapter w/hose from eBay & like you said it was the true "Microbore" not the fat hose so i am very pleased for $43... I remember not long ago when i very 1st got back into Airgunning & into PCP for the 1st time that i searched high and low for a setup like this and they all wanted from $120-$180+ which was insane so i ended up building my own buying parts from a Hydru Shop but still i ended up paying $65-$70 by the time i added on the Cga-347 and hose and it wasnt as nice and compact as well as Microbore like these from eBay. Ive had 0 issues with it.))) Anyway, Good to see you dropping new Videos here lately. Have a Good One man. Til' Later ✌
I love mine! It does have a way blowing some oil in, so I wouldn't breath the air in the tank, but I'm not a diver. It does have an issue of the motor not having enough power to start if there is pressure in the hose. I put a paintball tank fill nipple on a scuba fill station, in place of the foster socket they come with, and I can connect that directly to the socket on the end of the hose from the compressor. If you have pressure in your tank to begin with, that's the way to go. You are supposed to remove the oil filler cap, and replace it with the vent cap that came in the bag!!
United Police- Thanks for the tip as besides saving money to make up a new line because I already have a fill station on my SCBA tank, this arrangement will now allow me to open the bleeder on the fill station before starting the pump. This way the pump won't be starting under a load and then it's as simple as closing the bleeder and opening the tank valve once the pressures have equalized. Is this the same procedure that you use? Thanks again and thank you Air Velocity Sport for the excellent videos!
@@thomass8362 That's how I do it, the fill nipple works great! Have you tried it yet? You don't have to bleed the fill station, the fill nipple will stop the back flow.
Great video you covered all the operation details very thoroughly. This may be my next PCP purchase. Even though I have an air gun dealer 10 miles from me they are closed to the public for fills during the Covid 19 shutdown. I have tons of time to shoot but no source for air. This pump would be a great solution.
Good review man if it works for you GREAT it works for me to upside down tank and purge, I have a vacuum pump that I sometimes use to evacuate the tank before I fill it about every third fill just to get everything out for sure
I can get the same pump for $130, and am actually going to buy it. I just got me a Haysam Carnivore 35 cal., and am going to have a hot going after some Bore in one of the most pig infested sanctuaries on the west coast of California in Lake county. Mof, I had no idea we are surrounded with them like we are until about 2 weeks ago. That was the nudge I needed to invest in one of these Monster rifle's. After-all, knowing how to hunt is going to come in real handy very soon, and I pity the poor soul who doesn't know how. You have some very nice Rifles, 👍.
thanks for a well thought out and presented video explanation , but I think fur around the same cash outlay, maybe the nomad 2 electric compressor may work for those who would be looking to just fill the guns and buddy bottles, but not a large air tank, thanks again for the video👍
BSP threading on the HATSAN Universal fill probe, so make sure your Foster fitting, or whatever type of fitting is the same. That's important being this is high pressure.
Time for a video wher ya been? Show us around the airgun desk/room/garage/basement/cabinet/storage you know the airgunners batcave! We all have one Ted's holdover he has a dedicated gun room. Me I'm in the basement with 48 feet I have established a 10 -15 us indoor range. stay motivated we need smart guys like you. Oh I also stand behind the basement refrigerator door while filling lmao thought I was the only one!
I've been told that the compressor has a moisture bleeding valve on the left side and the main pressure bleed valve on right , when filling your tank you can bleed moisture as your compressor is running every 3 minutes or so
The prices for these products are a bit higher. We offer if not better than similar quality products but at cheaper prices. We will encourage you, yes you - the one reading this comment, to check these out and select the ones that better suits you and your budge. Search 'pcpmart' on google to see all the products
temp sensor is just sitting in the block aluminum (or stainless steal if it's not aluminum). I guess it could thread into the block instead of just resting in there, but it's not all that strange that it just sits in there loose like that. It's detecting the temperature of the compression body material, once it overheats, it will cut off the power most likely saving the life of your compressor for another day.
Update: Tank is done. Looks just like yours, Thanks for that! Have the same fill station you showed us. Just got the yong hang compressor yesterday. Now I am trying to build the Tee that you made. I can not find a Tee more then 3000psi rating ( Stainless or other ) I have talked to several sources / Air gas companies, Etc. I have had more then one person tell me that is a week spot and need a 5000psi rated Tee. I can not find anything like that. Is that what you have. If so. Maybe a link where you got it. Better have patience to do this sport. lol I have 15 drones. It is the same way. lol
you can build a desiccant filter out of silica gel kitty litter and schedule 40 pvc then rebake the desiccant from time to time to recharge its ability to absorb water.this can be done on the cheap for well under 100 dollars.
I'm glad the rest of you are having such great luck with the Yong Heng compressors and the vendors you have dealt with. My first order from Chon Electronic Technology Co., ltd. in China through Ali Express in November 2017 came in a box that was beat to hell and had obviously been subjected to lots of moisture evidenced by shredded cardboard. FedEx had noted it as a damaged shipment. The unit looked okay until I really started eyeballing it and it there were loose pieces up under the metal compressor cover as well as missing pieces from the outside. It also had no model serial number plate. So I'm still in the middle of battling this out between my credit card company and the vendor. Chon Electronic was of no help in the matter and kept urging me to try the compressor. With unattached and missing parts plus having been severely mishandled I wasn't about to be the guinea pig with a 4500 psi ticking time bomb. My second experience was a bit better through the Yong Heng Shop store although I did have to install the temperature gauge. I've had it working and it also has a manufacturer model and plate attached to the unit. So the moral to the story is pick your company wisely.
Great video. Newbie here. Quick questions (1) How is it holding up? The review was from 2017. (2) Can you use this to fill a PCP tank? Have you done so? Many thanks for a great review.
@@AirVelocitySport Just watched your videos and you are The Man! Answered all my questions. Cannot thank you enough for the gold-standard quality videos!
I just bought one of these, but not a Yong Heng. Mine doesn't have the metal tube coming out of the top of the piston, and it has liquid in the pressure gauge, but I don't know why. The gauge also doesn't have those setting indicators. The pressure release valves are both brass knobs, not plastic collars like the Heng. Matter of fact, it looks like almost everything is brass, including the burst disks, and the two foster fittings that came with it. This thing was made very well. I'm actually surprised at the craftmanship. It's mostly YELLOW, and a little bit of red and blue. It has Chinese writing on it and 40MPA. It came today from, Hong Kong. I have yet to even start this thing. It came fully assembled as if a professional did it. I have all kinds of parts, but don't have a clue what they're for. I'm wondering about thos water set-up. Does it leak? Sure does seem a little flimsy. Do they just slide in, and that's it? The fittings to both hoses are spring loaded.
I rent a 505 cubic foot nitrogen tank from airgas for 92 dollars a year and 48 dollars a fill. Its at 6000psi when full so I get about a year of heavy shooting out of a fill. The nitrogen is moisture free, and there is absolutely zero maintenance! Even better they deliver it to my house for 16 dollars. The only drawback is the tank valve can be a little tricky on some so you need a slow fill foster fitting or a regulator. But if you do the math with the moisture and dangers of acid from filter media yada yada yada.
I considered going with the nitrogen to fill my air rifles and talked with several gas supply stores in my area. They were very helpful to start with and was going to deliver the bottle. However when I told them I was going to use in in air guns that all changed. All of a sudden they would not deliver anymore and the paper work they wanted me to fill out was unbelievable, you would have thought I was applying for an FFL. Needless to say I went another route. I bought a SCBA tank and for a while was getting it filled at the fire station. Then that stopped so I bought one of these Yong Heng compressors. No problem at first, but recently the compressor popped and leaked air badly. I changed the burst disk several times before finding that the air fill hose had stopped up apparently collapsed inside. Everything is ok for now but I am out of burst disk, waiting on an order to be shipped
Taking a chance on one through Amazon ( I know- overpriced but it’s on time payment) Hope I have good luck with it. Thanks for the very informative video- will be referring to it when it arrives.
Great video i just purchase mine i might get it this coming weekend i have a question instead of using water for cooling the compresor can antifreeze be use
Silicates prevent corrosion. Yes it can be used, BUT it won't cool any better. Older anti freeze is toxic, so if a child or pet drinks it, it's poison. It's just an extra expense. I put a couple of water bottles in my freezer, and Chuck one in when the water in my bucket starts warming up. Then add another frozen water bottle when the first has melted. After filling an air bottle, I put the water bottles back in the freezer.
always watch the temperature to be sure it doesnt overheat and I never run mine any longer than 20 minutes at a time without a 10 minute break in between.
Great video I just got a Scott air pak tank thank god I watched this I didn’t realize that I could use the valve that came on the tank was about two seconds from trying to take it off then I decided to watch this thank u so much by the way where did you get the valve to fill up the tank with did it come as one piece or did u piece it together thanks again
Question - is the valve between the little black Yong Heng filter and the gold Tuxing filter NECESSARY? Like is that something you MUST do in order for it to be safe? What about the valve between the gold Tuxing filter and the scba tank, is that absolutely necessary also?
The valve on the left when looking at unit from the front is a Blow Down Valve. It is used to release pressure from internal parts after the unit is off.
Great content as always. I am on the cusp of buying a compressor. Looking at the Nomad 2, and the Air Venturi compressor also. Do you think the Nomad 2's use of silicone oil is adequate cooling versus the water cooled system with the Yong Heng? I know it is not apples to apples because the Nomad will not fill tanks. Since the Nomad does not use water does that mean its moisture in the fill air is reduced? Thanks for putting up these fantastic videos and all the help you are providing to the Airgunner family.
Great video, just bought myself one, just wondering if you have ever considered using anti freeze in the water. I don't know, but maybe it would prolong the life of the machine . Please reply what you think.. Thanks.
Peter Wood I would introduce anything but water as I'm not sure what effect antifreeze will have on the aluminum. I guess that could be a good idea if there is no chemical reaction with the aluminum. Antifreeze/coolant should help to reduce the temp.
Turning the tank upside down and opening the valve does not evacuate water. There is a tube inside under the valve so unless you have a ton of water it will become trapped behind the tube when turned upside down.
Thank you for making this detailed video. But one thing I want to know was not put in.....can I use that high pressure air pump directly fill my Hatsan air rifle? (If there is proper adapter) And since you mention, the hydrolic oil, is it what used in the break system of a car and a bicycle? Waht grade is it?? Is it DOT 3? DOT 4? Or DOT 5.1??
Yes, you can use the young Heng to fill guns directly but make sure you have an air dryer between the pump and the gun as a precaution. I would not expect to get moisture for short run times to fill a small 250cc gun. The hydraulic oil is rated #46
@@AirVelocitySport Appreciate for the prompt response. I have been looking around this kind of pump for a while as the hand pump.... sometimes......really drains my energy....well...have to admit I did not work out enough..... I will search the adapter and the air dryer. Thank you.
Great video! 👍🏻 and thank u for the advices. Just got mine couple of days back but didn’t have the chance to try it yet. I would just like to ask about the one way valve... is it on Aliexpress? Co honestly i couldn’t find it! And thank u once again
I have a scuba shop close to me I guess im lucky I was going to get a compressor but a 9L tank is same price as one of these filterless compressors. Since i have the best tank money can buy ninja SL2... I would hate to F it up with oil & water when scuba shop is only 3 away. I may get a compressor one day but it will be one WITH A FILTER so I can get that nice clear pencil smelling air.
just use a double male quick connect and hook the two hoses together lots cheaper than all those fittings just a suggestion and then you will not have to continuously take the cg fitting on and off
Hello. Please help to understand. When I’m refilling air tank it’s getting hot. How dangerous it is ? What temperature is normal for refilling ? Do I have to stop refill if my air tank getting hot ? I’m using the same air compressor as on video. And big air tank Air Venturi Wingman PCP Refill Tank, Carbon Fiber Tank, PCP Air Tank, (Wingman 98)
Also got one of these... Not used so far. Have been wondering about the coolant... I'm planning to run mine on water with antifreeze as to help combat the corrosion a lot of people have seen with the water jacket. Thoughts?
Great Vids.. Cant you just use a foster Male to male adapter to dill the scba tank and use the the filling hose to fill the guns with instead of making that other adapter to fill the scba tank????
Remember you need a way to bleed the air from the tank if you use a foster fill with a one-way valve. If you use a plain old Foster nipple then you can connect it directly to the CGA 347 adapter. Basically you can do it anyway you like but you will need to use some kind of CGA 347 adapter to Foster quick disconnect

A bit of 411 for those considering purchase:
-Same model available through AliExpress, sold by "Yong Heng Shop Store" for $100 cheaper, if you figure in shipping not
mentioned...received 13 days after placing order, in perfect condition.
-To clarify, the "other " bleeder knob is to bleed air/water from 1st stage air chamber
-To clarify, the burst disc fitting is actually in the 2nd stage air chamber rather than 1st, as indicated
-A good practice during run time is to crack bleeders every 5 to 10 minutes to expel condensation
-A good practice is to open both bleeders before switching on, then close after startup and reverse process on shut off to avoid compression load on motor and components.
For example, $41 for a complete 1st and 2nd stage cylinder/piston/head/connecting rod/rings/seals assembly.
huntjunky1 very nice! Thanks for the info.
Can you share links to those rebuild components please.
Yes, I use a 15amp line on 110v. No issue
I got some good use of mine and it works brilliantly
A few good pointers is to use distilled water with regular coolant fluid
for aluminum motors
Else the aluminum compressor head will be pitted pretty quickly inside,
dissolve the aluminum
Also let the compressor run freely for at least two whole minutes before
starting to pressurize as the piston and cylinder actually needs to get
up to working temperature to work best as possible and wear down as
little as possible, just think of it like a regular aluminum combustion
engine, it is just the same.
The water separator you can get to be installed after the compressor,
you can get one rather cheap online for just this model of compressor,
it is actually just a cylinder that the compressed air gets through the
top of and the water then flows down and slowly fills this cylinder the
once in a while you just bleed out this cylinder/tank at the bottom and
you can also do this with the big tanks if you have a manual valve, just
hold the valve downwards and bleed out the water before usage
That is pretty much it, use as good quality oil as possible and this
will also help with the compression effectiveness of the compressor.
I hope you then gets as happy as i do
Sorry for my bad English, i don't know the proper English word for what
the effect regular tap water has on aluminum as coolant, but grey white
scales grows out from the dissolved aluminum and impact the lifespan and
cooling performance of the compressor head greatly
I have owned one of these for almost two years now. Still working fine. Have the Brancato air filter. Joe is an engineer and he knows what he is talking about. I have stopped using the recommended hydraulic oil in the Yong Heng and am now using Royal Purple air pump oil. The noise the pump makes quieted down and the temperature also dropped by over 20C.
Thanks for the information!
Brancato alpha filter is like $300..
Thanks for helping us guys pretty nice you guys are great
Nice detail on the setup and different components.
Great video.
george belak thank you for the information. That is very helpful.
I just got mine today and it's perfect for my needs (filling paintball hpa tanks). I only need to have it on for maybe 5 mins at a time to fill my 2 tanks and so far it's worked great, of course I've only used it once but it exceeded my expectations for simplicity and how it worked.
just curious what marker do you use the HPA tanks on?
Take care.
RoundTripSpirit wow that's good info. Thanks!
You are the second person that had to clear out trash.
So u removed the hose and just put that fitting. So off ur young heng is just that foster fitting
Your videos are the best on YT. Most are like "well, I just got this compressor yesterday and now I'll show you how to use it. Ohh no, this doesn't fit, hold on ...."
Watched this three times already and finally have all the parts to fill my 10Liter bottle.
Thank you and enjoy your compressor and gun.
So many videos and research on the Yong Heng and THIS is the video that made me buy it. Thank you very much for taking the time to make this video!
How do you like it now? Still working?
@@Allworldsk1 love it. Not a single hiccup. Ive lost count how many times I used it and it hasn't failed me. Regularly replace the oil and thats all you need to worry about.
@@JudahMaccabee_ thanks for reply. They seem nice and solid for the most part.
Just let the pump with ice run for 5 seconds then start the compressor. It'll offset any contraction/expansion
In a manual pump the volume is small but not sure what would happen if the line failed
A motorcycle helmet might be a good idea when working with these
I wanted to share this with you in case you or others had not seen it, and if so if you had any opinon or information on its quality. You are probably aware, but I just saw it today and thought you might find it usefull, and thought I would take a chance that there might be one thing you don't know about airguns. :-)
This is a 12V 300 BAR, portable, vehicle mounted compressor.

Thanks
Vinny C yes, I recently learned that as well. Thanks
i recently welded a compartment on the side and added a resovior and i used a radiator for a water cooled cpu and ran 2 120 mm fans putting out the side of the box and used a inline pump (also for a water cooled computer) and all the fittings and lines have been redone with 1/4 hydraulic hose with crimped an fittings so everything is more reliable. if you want to do this basically just look up how to water cool a pc and pretend the cylinder on your compressor is the cpu block. also alot of napa auto parts can crimp you hydraulic hoses if you decide to go that route but just regular line and clamps work to
i appreciate your time and ideas that raise the level of safety as well as information for the new airgunners.Ihave used many of your ideas that actually work more efficient than store bought items.good job
Good video explaining the compressor. I own 2 of these compressors. One came with very hard to follow instructions. The other came with none.
By the way, on the digital display for the temp you can change from C to F, just remove the blue cover and there is a little button on the unit that you can switch from C to F or vice versa
What size battery does it take
I've just bought another version of these pcp compressor, the 12 volt one for 500 usd without even researching (because you can use your car battery)... only then i started browsing and find your video.. Thank you, this is the best video on this subject.. but man.. i'm second guessing my choice now.. well, I guess I have to buy another one.. lol
Thanks man
Mines gets here tomorrow, I’m only filling up a small paintball tanks
So this should be perfect
Great video
#46 hydraulic oil, 12 oz, that along deserves a thumbs up. Thank you very much.
My yong heng manual says MOBIL 827 or 829 equivalent as of Dec 2019 just fyi
Excellent video, good tutorial and down to earth common sense. Thank you.
Jon Dee I know right! I don't understand all the dislikes on this video. His Info is good and true and his videos are well put together. Some People just are assmunchers lol... Aw well, He still has far more likes regardless.
Just bought this compressor ... your videos are extremely helpful .... thank you.
nice video i got the same regulator $45.00 for my scott 45cf tank i found on ebay for like 115.00 with a good hydro to 2023 an the tank is good to 2021 ,they wan to make these tanks good for 30 years, $1200,00 is what these tanks cost for a new one ,so got it an my holder an electric pump are on the way,yes the pump can now new had for $225.00 on ebay
Just getting into paint ball, this is exactly what I needed. Thank you, Cheers 🍻
I just purchased this pump. Your video was very helpful. Thank you.
Thank you just got mine in the mail and was a little overwhelmed. Thanks for explaining all the parts and how to use it. 😁
Great Video - Thank you - I bought this because of your clear demonstration
Thanks for the video, just got mine and you are very good at explaining
Great video!! I just pirchased my first pcp, tank and generator. This really helped me understand the entire process better. Thank you very much!!!
I wanna get a pcp too! Planning on the gamo urban. Pretty good for the price i hear.
The best video for Yong Heng Air Pump Compressor, thank you!
From Saudi Arabia, thank you very much, great explanation, I benefited from this wonderful video a lot
That's important being this is high pressure.
a Fantastic 300 dollar compressor. Had mine 3 years in Feb 2020.. Love it..
I have baught the first strike comp.
Do fill direkt into the gun ?
Time for a video wher ya been? Show us around the airgun desk/room/garage/basement/cabinet/storage you know the airgunners batcave! We all have one Ted's holdover he has a dedicated gun room. Me I'm in the basement with 48 feet I have established a 10 -15 us indoor range. stay motivated we need smart guys like you. Oh I also stand behind the basement refrigerator door while filling lmao thought I was the only one!
Thanks for sharing. I put ice in the ice bucket and it stays pretty cool.
I've been told that the compressor has a moisture bleeding valve on the left side and the main pressure bleed valve on right , when filling your tank you can bleed moisture as your compressor is running every 3 minutes or so
Yes, that is correct. I bleed every 5 minutes but it's dry in the winter.
@@AirVelocitySportI use a dehumidifier to bring down the ambient humidity in the room in the summer so I'm not putting the humid air into the tank .
The second bleed valve is a moisture trap to try to rid some of the water out of the compressed air.

temp sensor is just sitting in the block aluminum (or stainless steal if it's not aluminum). I guess it could thread into the block instead of just resting in there, but it's not all that strange that it just sits in there loose like that. It's detecting the temperature of the compression body material, once it overheats, it will cut off the power most likely saving the life of your compressor for another day.
That's an excellent review. Very thorough.

So the moral to the story is pick your company wisely.
very clear explanation, thanks for that and very helpful for me.
Great video. Newbie here. Quick questions (1) How is it holding up? The review was from 2017. (2) Can you use this to fill a PCP tank? Have you done so? Many thanks for a great review.
I have done a recent video updating the progress. Just repaired my 2nd compressor working great
@@AirVelocitySport Just watched your videos and you are The Man!
Thanks for the video! I've been looking at these for awhile now. I've seen Jorge's video too. I want your model with the adjustable pressure
Very nice tutorial. Well done.
Another great review by this guy!
Very useful & informative thanks a lot for a great review.
@@cecilledbetter3286 Just call them up again and dont tell them the use?
Taking a chance on one through Amazon ( I know- overpriced but it’s on time payment) Hope I have good luck with it. Thanks for the very informative video- will be referring to it when it arrives.
You can use automatic transmission fluid, which is the same thing as hydraulic fluid. You can find it cheap.
Great video i just purchase mine i might get it this coming weekend i have a question instead of using water for cooling the compresor can antifreeze be use
J. Cordoba I do not know if anti freeze is corrosive
Try a high pressure dry pack that connects to your line to remove water or moisture
good review, learned a lot i needed to know
Great video I just got a Scott air pak tank thank god I watched this I didn’t realize that I could use the valve that came on the tank was about two seconds from trying to take it off then I decided to watch this thank u so much by the way where did you get the valve to fill up the tank with did it come as one piece or did u piece it together thanks again
Great review on this compressor ,, been waiting for this thanks ,, subbed
Very informative video, could you tell me how long it would take to fill the tank from empty (new)?
thanks
Question - is the valve between the little black Yong Heng filter and the gold Tuxing filter NECESSARY? Like is that something you MUST do in order for it to be safe? What about the valve between the gold Tuxing filter and the scba tank, is that absolutely necessary also?
The valve on the left when looking at unit from the front is a Blow Down Valve. It is used to release pressure from internal parts after the unit is off.
Thanks,?Wouldn't first cooling your room down with your air conditioner take care of the humidity/water problem?
.Well Done... Very informative .... Thank You !!!
(If there is proper adapter)
And since you mention, the hydrolic oil, is it what used in the break system of a car and a bicycle?
Love your reviews. Subbed
just use a double male quick connect and hook the two hoses together lots cheaper than all those fittings just a suggestion and then you will not have to continuously take the cg fitting on and off
Seeing as how it can fill airguns it’s safe to assume that it can fill paintball tanks right?
Thoughts?
This will change your life.
thanks buddy. Learned alot.
@@AirVelocitySport can you use the bleed valve on this was going to get both of these? www.amazon.com/JUFENG-Stainless-Disconnect-Adaptor-Paintball/dp/B073TKN54S/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=JUFENG+Stainless+Steel+Double+Male+to+Male+Quick+Disconnect+Adaptor+for+Foster+Paintball+Airsoft+Air+Gun+PCP&qid=1622319789&s=sporting-goods&sr=1-1 www.amazon.com/s?k=Alomejor+CGA347+Paintball+Fill+Station+Kit+PCP+SCBA+Fill+Station+Charging+Adapter+with+Hand+Tight+Paintball+Refill+Adapter&i=sporting&ref=nb_sb_noss
Yes, they are both rated to 6000psi working pressure which is good and safe.

my neighbor across the bay!! IN CT here
Thank you so much for this video.Very in depth and I I appretiate that.I want to get my first PCP.and it is like getting my first computer. No real in dept linstrutions...All these fittings Lol.
Where you pulled out the Cotton dirt Filtwe jam assume the metal and is where you attach the probe? Yes iam that greene. Thanks man it explained alot.
Ion exchange resins make acids in water filtration and silica gel is a base so just use a stainless steel tube and your fine.
i would suggest you update the water pump with a pound pump from Menards etc most of the ones the come with the compressors suck
Thank you. Very useful.
