I own this bowie, but left the flipper on mine, buy the way I have the same scale vary nice job that SDK's did on this scale, grate post and thank you.
Where did you get the firetac triway? I've been pining after one for the past few days. Never really wanted one before this, but it just really looked good, suddenly.
Here is why everyone should try hinderer. Hinderer is by far then most improved knife company, even Rick himself is an amazing chap. I know he used to be very defensive on forums , but he's changed a lot since then. He listens to his consumers and makes outstanding knives. People asked for ball bearings and complained about Teflon washers , he introduced the tri way system. People complained about lock stick (which I've never had), he adds in lockbar inserts. Used to think the zt is better but I changed my mind when I tried my first gen 4 xm18. Join his official fb group and you'll see how interactive he is as a maker towards his customers. Customer service too is impeccable. Try it now , hinderer is by far the only knife brand I've known that has improved greatly .
I bought one that had the flipper ground off. Sent it in for warranty work. They said it was voided, but they offered service at a very reasonable rate. I knew what I was getting into, but Rick has excellent customer service. Fixed it and sent it back to me for around $30.
First!..that's bad ass..damn it rockets out with that thumb stud.. bearded gear just did this with his Sharp Dressed knives scales! it was on a Maximet PM2 though- same scales i think
Thanks, based on you experience I had Sean delete the flipper on my XM-24. It had gone from great to fantastic. It is some new scales away from perfect.
Hey Man: Nice video. (I mostly check out your old Reate reviews, because that’s by far my favorite brand.) One minor point: it’s always been pronounced “Boo-ee” (I’m a resident of his birthplace, Kentucky).
As weird as it may sound, I miss those days back in 2012 when hinderers went for 700-800$. There was so much hype around the brand and it was cool seeing a third pillar in the knife community come in, and being part of that special. (The three pillars being CRK, Strider, and hinderer). A lot of what happened back then has influenced what is still popular today like the Ti frame lock flipper craze.

I tried my first XM-18 3.5 last Spring and got rid of it. I didn’t feel like I gave it a fair shake so I went back and got another (Bowie this time instead of the previous spear point)and the switch in blade style made all the difference for me.
Love the hinderer brand as well, both z.t. and original version especially now with the tri way. I agree on the flipper tab only because its a bit pointy and uncomfortable to use more than once or twice at a time. Even then I think it could be slightly modified to really ease the usage of the tab. Other than that great knives and I have a few of older models and newer triway. Check out the wharncliffe model its pretty sick also
Tried a non flipper hinderer once and didn’t like it, detent was just too weak. I think I’m gonna look for a harpoon spanto (stonewash) and have it flipper deleted for that heavier detent I crave, but besides that it is probably one of my favorite knives I’ve owned, the option to have bearings or washers is seriously awesome

I just recently got my first xm-18 and am really happy just like all the other xm-18 owners in the world but my question is this - did your knife come with bearings? Or was that added? I it came that way, am I able to add them to mine? Which obviously doesn't have them?
Great video as always. I hope people will kick Strider out of the “holy trinity’ due to Mick Stider’s stolen valor issues. Maybe Koenig better deserves that spot?
If you're boiling his issues down to "StOlEnVaLoR" then you don't even know half the story. I'm a former Marine, and I find that part of it to be by far the smallest issue. Also gotta remember, most of the current "knife community" was in elementary school during ole Micks glory days.

Have you tried the Kaiser Genie in carbon fiber not Ti? I think that may be up your alley for the gentleman's carry it's almost as light as my bug out 2.2 Oz $158 for beautiful shredded / marbled carbon fiber and s35vn.. front flipper, thumb flipper, Spidey flick 3.6 blade reverse tanto

I just picked up my first Hinderer, a Firetac on triway. The action is superb 👌.

Yeah, the flipper delete makes it look infinitely better. I'm usually not a fan of bowies, but this one is 🔥🔥
