    Cliff once drove a Toyota Camry from Tennessee to Connecticut--suffice to say, he's familiar with this car. The 2022 Toyota Camry doesn't re-write the book, but it employs the sort of powertrain, suspension, and technology that meets the needs of most drivers. Watch our full test drive review to see why this midsize sedan remains so popular.

    Yeah ! cars with turbos usually deliver more power and torque, but run hotter and are more prong to elevated repair cost, which defeats the purpose of owning a reliable and economical vehicle.

    My 2017 XLE bought off the Show room floor has been absolutely flawless with 140,050 miles as of today. I get 37 mpg , often 32 worst if I speed 85 or more for long time. Looks great inside and out seats have been in excellent condition front and rear. I'm still on my original brakes and absolutely 0 parts have been fixed or replaced. Kudos Toyota just hope my new 2022 4 runner does half as well

      Hope your new 4Runner does half as well? They're made in Japan. Which means it will last forever. Japanese engineering is unmatched. Hence the 4Runner's high resale value.

      @noeagosto9231 thx camry just had 1st set new brakes installed as it failed state inspection at 172k. Still runs like a top. My runner is still chill mode 16k on it and I fully expect it to last 5 years,... then it'll be ditch time if not sooner. Looking at GX or possibly new Landcrusier 🤔 👀

    I will tell you something I don't buy brand new cars in general anyway. but I owned 2007 Toyota Camry XLE V6 .. and I was planning on changing brands ..I couldn't when I do the Relibitly research I find my self always returning back to Toyota .. as of right now I own 2012 Toyota Venza XLE V6 AWD .. so happy with it honestly. once you get used to Toyota Relibitly. is very hard to take a chance with any other brands really !!

    Spot on review. I love renting Camry though I don't own one. I am never uncomfortable in one after a long drive. Toyota does a great job with their ergonomics (seating). I don't need a V6 engine and would rather have the economy. I can understand why one would want one though if they are in mountainous areas.

    Great review Cliff! I've read a lot of complaints about the 8 speed automatic transmission in the Camry. That it's indecisive at lower speeds, gear hunts a lot, and jerky. Is that true from your experience?

      The power per liter is good. But it's a larger car and this engine, without a turbo, is comparably weak.

    • @northrollingacres
      @northrollingacres 2 года назад

      @@waterlevelroute Not true. Honda, BMW, Ford all make fantastic (turbo) four-cylinder engines as you describe. Four-cylinder engines are not created equal.

    • @pt93music
      @pt93music 2 года назад +4

      @@northrollingacres drive one. The 2.5L Camry is no race car but it’s definitely peppy for the size and gets up to speed quick. The V6 is only barely quicker to 60mph.
      Also, Honda and Ford have plenty of issues with the turbo motors. Honda particularly have problems with the oil dilution issues. Though they seem to be getting a hand on it.

    • @kristians2704
      @kristians2704 2 года назад

      in today’s world it’s not even close to impressive. Mercedes is making 416hp from a 2.0 engine. Yeah, it’s turbocharged but the Camry shoud just add a turbo to bump up the power

    • @pt93music
      @pt93music 2 года назад +4

      @@kristians2704 You just compared a Camry with a Mercedes.... Turbo's are notoriously not as reliable and a extra moving part to break. And if you want to talk impressive turbos, 1.6L inline 3 cylinder turbo from Toyota putting out 300hp from the factory and can handle 450hp with a boost tune on stock internals. There's a complete breakdown on RUclips of it. 200hp in a camry is not gonna win races, but it's fast enough and will last 40x longer than a Mercedes turbo will. Original poster also stated this was impressive for a naturally aspirated motor. Which is correct. It’s pretty decent and delivers phenomenal fuel mileage.

    Not a fan of the "AfterThought" screen. I have a 2018 Camry and like the way the Screen is built into the dashboard. Just test drove the new Accord. I didn't like 1.5 I felt it was a little slow, and the 2.0t was trying to hard to hunt for gears. I like the interior styling of the New Accord, but I think l'm going back to another Camry.

    Who knew one of the last sedans to prioritize comfort over Zoomer back pain would be made by Toyota? Lincoln and Buick don’t even make sedans anymore (thanks, children), and the Chrysler 300 is on the way out. Cadillac pretty much makes sports sedans now and unless you say your car is “sporty” and emphasize handling and performance, no one will buy it. Embarrassing.

    Drove a Camry for the first time as a rental car - 2022 with 10,000 miles on it. I absolutely despised driving that car. It was incredibly boring, sluggish, and just wasn't fun to drive at all. I couldn't wait to turn it back in. One good thing I can say, is the standard stereo was decent sounding in it. Everything else wasn't great though and I really don't see its appeal.
