    Thanks, this helped. Getting that damn rear assembly to sit properly after removing a wheel is pain & suffering.

      Thanks for watching. I'm glad it was helpful and I agree it took me a bit to get it back together.

    Didn't notice the little magnet trick (in your fast forward section) when i watched this at the house.. it would be a good one to explain one day in a video.

      Well Thanks for checking it out and glad it helped you to decide what to do with yours. I am stubborn and will make it not repairable before I send something off. I do have good luck with 90% of what I try to fix being fixed when I am done with it.

      The wheel motors drop out pretty easily as an assembly. There is a hidden release tab that you have to find. I found it on another RUclips video.

    I have about six of the original Botvac connected robots, which are virtually identical to this one. A couple of them have made it to over 1200 hours with no issues. If your robot is navigating like crap, it’s almost always the laser that is the problem. They are not user serviceable. If you take the lid off the top, you might as well pitch it in the trash, because you’ll almost never get it aligned exactly like it was from the factory. Just get a replacement off eBay for $30 to $40. I’ve also had a couple motherboards go crazy and die. I’ve swapped a couple of those out successfully. Other long-term issues include the brush motors, side brush drive belts, and wheel motors. It’s all very easy to replace. Just be very careful with those wires and the connections, because they’re all very delicate. Take lots of pictures and take your time, and you’ll get pretty good at fixing these things in no time.

      I did several repairs on this one over the years until I ran out of spare parts and have retired it and did an upgrade to the newer smart model now. I'm not sure I like it any better being smart as the mapping is off a bit. I still think this is a better design than the others on the market.

      @@DougLearn I keep buying old units off ebay, and I've found them pretty cheap. About half worked perfectly, and the other half needed repair. I think my average price is about $75 including shipping. The batteries alone are almost worth that. I have some experience with the D7, and I think the original botvac connected (DC02) just runs and navigates better. It's the first Wifi model, and the only thing it really lacks is the no-go lines. I found a small supply of new LIDAR sensors on ebay, which is the hardest part to find, aside from the motherboard. These things will run for a lot of hours if you take basic care of them. All of their vacuums are nearly identical, other than battery packs. I'd love to find someone that is more familiar with repairing/diagnosing the LIDAR sensor, as I have several that either don't sense distance or do it erratically. I use the Neato Toolio app for testing the parts. Good luck tinkering.

    I deleted the comment you replied to, After giving the laser a teardown and clean it works fine again.
    I do happen to have another new in box, but i didn't have to open it on this occasion. What piece fell off at 5:06? I happen to have a weird rubber piece with retainers I believe fell off from the inside but I couldnt figure out where it went. I guess it's a bonus piece now

    • @bigman55434

      That little rubber piece is a micro USB connection cover that goes just inside of the air filter housing bay, next to the on off switch.

    Put switches back first. Use a screwdriver to push the tabs back from the inside.

    The wire is Blue and Yellow, what are they for? li-ion battery

    • @sncat
      @sncat 2 года назад

      @@DougLearn It is difficult to convert a li-ion battery correctly, you need a control controller. I will do this by tricking the temperature sensor. Reaching the charge of the Li-ion battery, turning on the end of the charge, a resistance should appear on the 5000 ohm temperature sensor.
