- ( www.TFLcar.com ) For 2012 Volkswagen mildly refreshed the Tiguan to make it a bit more modern and current. There's a new and somewhat refreshed front facia and some new trim on the inside of the car. There's only one engine choice for the 2012 VW Tiguan and thankfully it is an excellent one. Volkswagen's 2.0 liter turbo can be found in many other VW and even Audi cars like the Golf GTI and the Audi A4. In the Tiguan it makes for brisk acceleration times while providing plenty of stop light punch for a small crossover while delivering decent MPGs.
Ride and Handling. In two words: smooth and sporty
The Tiguan surprisingly big on the inside for what is small crossover on the outside. Backseat leg room is plentyful and with the rear seats folded down there's also tons of rooms for luggage or even bikes.
We had a 2012 Tiguan SE and it was an attractive, fun, and safe vehicle! The steering and handling is great, which comes in handy during emergency maneuvers. Kept us out of quite a few collisions on the road. The 2.0 TSI is one of my personal favorite engines. The vehicle had a sporting edge, but the ride was never too harsh. If you don't mind the price tag, and you're looking for a fun, attractive, and safe small SUV, I would definitely recommend the 2012 Tiguan. I am a big VW fan!

I have one Tiguan and I love it. I checked Forestor, RAV4, and even CR-V (the Hen's car) and found Tiguan much better than all others. I have the Tiguan for the past two years with no issue.
Anyone considering buying a used 2012 Tiguan... Just get the panoramic roof glass properly tinted; and you'll notice a huge difference.
I got a 2012, Had a limo tint on the roof. I was not going to do that myself so it was the best $80 I ever spent

I own one and I love it. You don't need to spend 32K for the highest trim. A plus side of this car is even the lower trims are reasonably equipped! What makes this car different is the level VW paid attention for details.

That's true, as you better know Audi is owned by VW; therefore, Q3 is on the same platform that Tiguan is, and also they share the same engine to reduce production costs. Same story about many Toyota and Lexus models.

the comment on the sunroof shade is spot on! during the hot summer, the shade won't protect the car from heat compared to solid shades. kind of a bummer. hope VW can improve the shade to something more sturdy so to keep heat from boiling the inside of the vehicle on their next 2014 models.

Comparing Audi vs VW is like comparing Toyota and Lexus. Tiguan MSRP starts around 21K; However Q3 at least starts at 10K more.

Not true. The Tiguan is based on the Golf. The Q5 is based on the Audi A4. The upcoming Q3 and the Tiguan share the same platform.

I like your videos Dave. One questions though, why is it that your video quality is always sub par to that of Roman and Nathan's videos? Yes I am watching it in HD, but it is a low quality HD. Need a new camera maybe?

I can't believe the only engine available in America is 200hp and that the Americans describe this as a small car. In Europe 200 bhp is MASSIVE and only real petrol heads or the filthy rich would be looking at such a powerful motor. I'm debating the 140bhp diesel here in France. I wish our fuel was as cheap...

Not that it is "low" quality. It is just not crisp HD quality. It seems as though it is always in a fuzzy hazy HD quality
Really? Maybe because Americans have lead feet, but I think 200hp for this vehicle is perfect. I have driven the nissan rogue and I recently drove the tiquan, and the tiquan feels much better; just the punch needed to confidently merge and pass on highways.
Someone should make a petition to make VW put the damn DSG in the American Tiguan. Everyone else has it except us.

I feel as though the Tiguan will have the best quality, but that's what you're paying for when the RAV4 etc are substantially bigger if you park them side by side.

3:55 it looks like its right-hand drive. Good video, it's a nice car considering its safety but I would go with the soon-to-be updated rav4. This kind of looks Funky, the escape looks to good to be true, the CRV looks cheap, and the CX-5 looks horrible IMO.

i know Nathan and Roman are petroheads but i feel like i need more info on whatever reviews they are doing. The only thing i get after watching them is that high altitude makes engines perform less plus, plus how awesum the solo dl is.
