This is a perfect project for my high school students… I do an afterschool jewelry club!
Hi, Susan! I love this project. I would also love to see hoop earrings that go straight into the ears instead of using an ear wire.

This was a fantastic tutorial!!! I can't wait to try this out!!! Thank you so much from one hoop lover to another! ;)
Thank you for your time and talents 😊
Great video - spent some time following this tutorial playing with some German style copper wire. I have to get the hang of the first wrap around the wire that is bent upward, but I was still satisfied with the results.
This is a foolproof tutorial! I've made a few using these instructions and they all came out perfectly! Way better than using memory wire! Thanks!
I love making different types of hoop earrings ❤️
Thank you so much for this tutorial. It has helped me tremendously.
Thank you for sharing your talent and creativity.
God bless you
Thank you Susan!
Love all your videos! Just recently found your channel and it has been extremely helpful as a beginner. I would love to see a video about patina and how to use it!

Christmas in July! I would love to see some wire made ornaments to put on my tree this winter! I ❤ your channel!
That was great! Thank you so much.
Thank you. You make it look so simple. 👍👏
Would it be possible to do a video on how to hang something in the middle of this type of hoop?
Jump rings should solve that issue, even after you've made the hoop.
Big thank you for sharing this ❤.
Thanku so much for sharing your skills with us🙂
Fantastic! Thank you.
Hi Susan,
This was great, I would also like to see how you can make a hoop with a small hoop,to hang a bead in the inside of the larger hoop
Great video! Thanks
Thanks for sharing!
A bracelet mandrel would work too for larger sizes! Great tips though 😊 thanks!
Thank you for the video. You can never have too many hoop earrings!
Thank you! I’m so excited to make these. Can you explain how you would make these so that you can dangle beads in the middle?
Love your techniques....love from India❤️
I think I lastly found an uncomplicated tutorial since my search. Thank you and would love to talk to you sooner
Thank you so much❤😊😊
Thank you!!
Awesome video 👍
thank you. your a great teacher
I learned so much from your channel thanks miss
I like your videos a lot! Thank you 🤟❤️💋
Thanks for sharing
Thank you
Thank you!!!
Great work Beautiful. 💕✌🌺
Hi Susan! I love those big copper hoops! I’m a bead weaver but have been eager to try wire work. Would this be a good introductory project?
Wow beautiful
Just found you, love it.
How do u hang a bead from the top of the hoop? Great vidio! It was filmed close up & was easy 2 follow. THANK U !
Thank you so much can't wait to make some hoop earrings
Thank you thank you! I’ll be making these from now on ! Where can I find the dowel that you’re using ??
NICE!!
I want that leather bracelet your wearing in video. Did you make it? Nice piece. Love the earrings.
no doubt the fact that you are demonstrating slow is why this is so helpful! thank you!
Hi susan, can you show us how to make large earrings with a stud? I've got lots of wires but need help with straight through studs. Thanks for all the help on many of your tutorials.
thank you susan.i want to make hoops
Great video! The wire is out of stock in the link you provided. What other wire would you recommend. I would like the wire to go through the ear as opposed to using an ear wire. Thank you
❤😘thanks
Love your bracelet did you make it would love to know hope it’s not rude of me to ask .do admire your work about to do my first event and love working with leather as well as beads wire etc
Can you teach us how to make ear cuffs? I can’t wear pierced earrings. I can wear clip-ons, but I really like cuffs. They cost a lot to buy. Would love to be able to make them myself. Thank you!
I am learning so much from your videos! You seem to waste a lot of extra wire. What do you do with it? Do you have any tIpS about uses for the excess wire?
We love using extra wire to create jump rings and ear wires!
Thank you for this presentation. I am new to earring making. Could you show or do you have a video of memory wire earrings?
We sure do!

I'm just learning thank you so much, can you make the ear wire that hoops are attached too?
Hey Michelle! Here is a link to a video Susan did about making your own ear wires: ruclips.net/video/C0kXL_0oq50/видео.html
enjoy!
I enjoy your videos. How would you attach a dangle to this earring? And what is bear copper?
Bare. No finish
Thanks, I thought it could have been a brand? It's all new me!
@@sandraphillips9040
It could have been a brand name. Lol. I heard her say she was going to oxide the earring. That's generally done on bare wire. Good luck on your jewelry journey.
👍
Hi Susan! Couple questions...have you had any issues with the hoops changing color using plated or colored wire? Also, do you have a video showing hoops with adding beads? Thank you!
Want to see the double hoop earrings you showed on the 03/09/21 show
Hi Susan - Can you suggest a technique for connecting a headpin with beads to the center of a hoop earring?
What size wire is best for the pierced ear
Wow
Hi Susan I love all ur projects .where icon get the tools u used thank u.
Hi! Most everything you need is linked in the description below the video. Hope this helps!
what is fatina/patina how do you apply it
Damazing
Would the same techniques apply for solid gold wires ?
Yes! You can use dead soft or half hard, but dead soft will need more work hardening.
Just for practicing with
What brand of wire do you use? I make rings myself, but am branching into the hoop game 🙏🏽☺️✨
We use Beadalon and Parawire among others. You can purchase an amazing set of wire here at JTV: www.jtv.com/product/silver-over-copper-wire-kit-includes-gauges-16-18-22-24-26-7-spools-total-appx-10-yards-ea/JSWRKIT77?mcid=XSOjsyt
I made some hoops following this however they are still bendy and malleable, is there a way to stop them bending after I put them into a round shape. (I used 1mm thick iron wire)
It may be because of your wire. If it is dead soft wire, it will probably bend out of shape. Try half hard next time!
Use 1.2mm that’s the 16 gauge she is talking about x
I like your brasalet
Hi, Susan, how would you add dangling beads to the center of this?
Hey, thanks for asking! Just pop a bead on a headpin and use your round-nose plier or one-step looper to create a loop and hang from the hoop! Here's the one-step looper :) www.jtv.com/product/1-step-looper-pliers-creates-2-25mm-loops/JST662A?mcid=XSOjsyt
Jewel School do you think you could make a tutorial for this anytime soon? :)
A brief tutorial showing this step would be great!
Are there any alternatives to hardening the hoop if you don't have a block and hammer for it ?
When i wrapped my wire around before making the loop at the top my wire didnt look very neat and i struggled to get it to lool tight if you get what i mean, do you have any suggestions on how to achieve this, i tried by hand
Hello! It can be hard, but just try to get it as tight as you can around the mandrel and hold it steady with your fingers. If you find wrapping the wire around at the top is hard to do with your human digits, try a bent chain nose plier. It has a fine tip to grab with and may let you be a little more precise when wrapping, plus pull the wire a bit tighter. Hope this helps!
Hi thanks for vid, what gauge wire is this for the hoop?
Hi Adam! For the small hoops Susan used 20 gauge wire and for the larger hoops, she used 16 gauge wire. Good Luck!
Hi Susan what wire can I use that's not expensive when practicing just starting so don't want to waste any as I dare say I will
It just depends. Thicker wires can be a bit more expensive. You might try working with a dead soft 24ga wire and start by making a simple beaded messy ring: ruclips.net/video/u69_ycUbOW4/видео.html. Honestly, when you're first starting out you will have some wire waste, so just try to pick good simple beginner projects and work your way up! A tip, memory wire is a great medium to work with if you're just starting out. It's a tempered steel wire that holds it's shape and it's hard to wast wire. You will need a couple of special tools to work with it, but in our opinion, it's well worth the investment. Try this tutorial - Chip Bead Memory Wire Hoops for Beginners: ruclips.net/video/lQ2QuGr-nRg/видео.html
What kind of wire do you use and does it tarnish? I will be using leather fringe
It's a non-tarnish wire, yes. It's a wire that has a base metal, usually made of copper and then a non-tarnish coating of a certain color, whether that's a gold, brass or silver color coating. Leather fringe sounds very cool! Take a picture and tag #JTVJewelSchool and #JTVjewelrylove on Facebook and Instagram! You can also upload pictures of your custom creations on the Jewel School Facebook page: www.jtv.com/jewelry-making/_/N-375228644
Hi Everyone I'm starting from scratch, is there any wire that's not expensive I've wasted some already
I would like the large hoop so I can put beads on them
Have you ever did a hoop side wire earring?
Where can I find a short piece of wooden dowel with that wide a diameter like Susan is using in this video? I've looked all around and can't seem to find any. The wider they get, the pricier they get. It's not very cost-effective to purchase an entire length of dowel when I only need about 3".
Hi! Try purchasing a kids wooden block set. I bet you'll find a comparable wooden pieces in it. Hazel & Fawn, 40 Unit Blocks and Melissa and Doug all make sets. Good Luck!
@@JewelSchool Thank you so much for your reply! I'll check those out. And thanks so much for these videos. I'm fairly new to wire work, and I've been absolutely devouring them. I've gained so many valuable techniques that I use regularly.
Hey dear
Can I use that golden wire as regular basis? I'm a lill bit scared about the ear infection 😥😥😥 is it better to use to as regular basis or not!?
Please reply ❤️❤️
I'm from Bangladesh ❤️🇧🇩🇧🇩❤️
If you're concerned about skin allergies, it is best to stick to pure metals like gold and sterling silver. Plated wire can be okay, but if the plating wears off over time, the base metal could cause a skin reaction. You can try coating plated metals with an acrylic sealer and that may help keep the plating from wearing away over time.
Can you show us how to make a triangle shape earring that can go through the ear rather than attaching an earring wire? Of course the triangle will need to have an extra angle to go through the ear.
We can ask Susan to do an episode for this!
Is it dead soft wire?
Hey Kathy! Yes, you can use dead soft or half hard, but dead soft will need more work hardening.
What type of oil do u put on last Thanks
What if you wanted to add beads ?
Hi Michelle! For the thicker wire like your 16ga, you'll need to get a large hold bead. If they don't come large enough, you can try using a bead reamer to make the holes even larger so they slide right on the wire. Make your hoop, put on your beads, then make your connection at the top once you have your bead pattern the way you want it! Just remember, if you put beads all the way around, you won't be able to work harden it like Susan does in the video, so you run the risk of the hoop losing it's shape. If you only use a few beads, you can work warden lightly above the beads - and that should help some. You can also just use memory wire for beaded hoops. memory wire is strong, yet flexible and doesn't have to be hammered at all! Good Luck!

What if you want to add beads to your earrings
If the holes are large enough in the beads, you should be able to place some on there! You can use a smaller gauge wire and wrap the on as well. Also, try using memory wire. It's great for beaded hoops. Memory Wire Hoops: ruclips.net/video/ciVk6LuBMDA/видео.html
How do u make a hoop inside a hoop?
You know, we haven't actually covered this in a tutorial, so it's a great question! The easiest way would be to use two different sizes of memory wire and connect them with small jump rings. Here is something in practice that's pretty close. ruclips.net/video/IzkyOcMvHMo/видео.html
We will try to make a video that features this soon!
Hey where do you get the 20 and 40 gaugewire
Here you go! www.jtv.com/product/natural-copper-silver-tone-and-vintage-bronze-tone-wire-kit/JSWRKIT40?mcid=XSOjsyt
Try Rio Grande. Great price and selection! I get all my sterling & copper wire there
I hate the tool marks. I do wrap my tools but they still leave tool marks.
Is there video where she’s adding beads in em??
Hi LA! We don't currently have that video, but keep watching because we are working on it!
Hi, I hope you are well, I am in the land of the Persians and my job is to sell jewelry, I would like to see jewelry training in your school, can you give me this opportunity? I can run a big business.
I'm jewelry artist from Kenya
Amazing! Thanks for watching!😃
More specifically say what wire
Susan used a heavier wire in 20ga. You can use 16ga, or 18ga as well. The yellow hoop is made using beadalon wire in a gold plated sterling silver. The Other is a bare copper wire made by parawire.
Talking, banging the hammer and music! Why? 😂 But thank you for the turorial.
;/ Ive been trying to find a video that you can make earings with no metal my ears can only take gold or silver or it gets extremely infected
Ball peen hammer…one end is ball and other end is peen.
Bro who's going to go through all this work 🙄
I agree, your unnecessary comment is a piece of work.
Can you don't use that druping music? It is awful.
Thank you
