Because of COVID my art college has been supplying a few online resources, but they all suck so I just came to RUclips and I've learned so many techniques already from only a couple of videos. Thank you youtube and thank you Susan!
I am crafting some simple jewelry pieces for my outdoor sales stand. I’ve been making pies and jams but with COVID-19 a lot of people are afraid to even approach the table. So I am branching out into including jewelry on the front table and putting the Pie And Jam in the shade which is probably better anyway for the food. I’m just looking for simple techniques and your tutorial gave me everything that I will probably need.
I can’t tell you how happy I am to have found your videos! It’s very hard to find courses where I live that cover all these basics (most of them are goldsmithing and silverwork classes, or bead weaving). I’ve only watched three of your videos so far, and I’m hooked! Can’t wait to get all my supplies together and get started. Thank you! ❤️
Love the hints and tips and techniques. I like taking old jewelry and taking it apart and making new things for gifts and giveaways. I have tons of pearls that I have bought at garage sales and I am going to try restringing.
I enjoy your show so much. I watched a video on seed needed earrings. I love the earrings but no matter how much I watch it I can get the hang of the bridge stitch. Love this video, so well made and explained so well. I made a bracelet using the looper from a video you did and very happy with it.
Thanks for the interesting tutorial, I love that you are patient and explain things in a reasonable fashion. I will be watching a lot more. Thanks again. I now have the faith to start a new craft, I was reluctant to start. Now with guidance it seems more than do-able.
I love how easy and simply you explained these technics! I'm already more advanced myself but love going back to remind myself how to do things I haven't done in a while :)
“I know since you’re watching this video you’re probably interested in making jewelry” .. my d&d character is a jeweler and I wanted to do some research before playing him
I think you need to study goldsmithing, gemology and brilliandeering NOT bead working lol😜 seriously. You’re misdefining “jeweler”. This ain’t it, clear?
I have a huge collection of various beads and my intention was to make jewelry. I have a little time these days. I think I'll try it now. I like the explanations but I too would appreciate a closer view. Thanks for posting this!
Sooooo glad I found this channel. This video is so helpful for us newbies lol. The most confusing thing to me is trying to figure out which bead string is best for most bracelet projects.
Love the videos and Love your enthusiasm however like the other comments, some of Us just need that “Wire Looping” shown a wee bit Slower Pleeease. The part of initial looping in the beginning is understood, it’s just the first pick up of our tool then replacing the wire then turning our needle nose pliers then twisting again it just gets to be complicated.
within the first 50 sec of the video my mind was blown. my wife picked up beading and you said "bead stopper" and i about died.. she spent 2 hours on one large necklace because she let it slip 3 times... lol omg cant wait to tell her... THANKS!
Thank you, Susan! I'm glad you agree with me on the Easy Knotter. I love it, because I don't have to think through the steps (easiest to use), plus get the knots right up against the beads with ease. Just want to mention, you didn't say anything about pre-stretching the elastic cord. I was always told it is necessary, but is it?
I think you meant the silk cord since you are talking about knotting. Yes. Absolutely always wet and stretch silk cord before knotting. If you do not, it will stretch later and you will end up with space between the knots and the beads. If you meant the elastic here is an answer I previously posted addressing this. “The jury is out on this one! I use elasticity and I have never found that I have to do that, but many people swear by this trick. It certainly does not hurt the elastic to pre-stretch it so stretch away!”
As a crazy idiot who started making massive, body-spaning peices with a couple plastic bead strings and some too heavy earrings to my name, this is an absolute godsend. Thank u. Thank u so much.
Hey Mara! Thanks for the suggestion! Check out our newest videos as we believe we have improved the quality of our videos with these exact changes. Thanks for watching!
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for clarity !!!!!!!! I'm a novice jewelry maker and been so confused with many videos. I now think I can do this thing. Thanks again !!!!

I've been playing around making stitch markers to hold my place when I have to take my crochet hook out of my project. - Basically a drop earring with a clasp instead of a earring hook. - But I didn't wrap my wire around after I made my circles. Now I wonder if I should go back and redo them. 🤔 none of them have come undone.
Love this video, thank you so much!! I’m just getting back into this, but now my close up vision isn’t so good. Would you happened to have any videos or advice on magnification stands?

definitely cheaper to learn how to wire wrap and create your own head pins, eye pins, open/close jump rings. But as for creating decorative chains from wire i tend to favor just buying them as making them is very very tedious. Though i am curious if you have any good methods or perhaps a cheap home user machine that can make different decorative chains? Industry machines pump these out by the kg daily.
I'm tryna get a job so i can save to start my own jewelery line. It's a dream come true. I don't have a lot of knowledge yet but i sure do have a passion for this. Im currently waiting for an email from the company i applied for ❤️
Great question! I add a clasp juts the same as always -- thread the silk through a crimp bead, then the clasp finding and back through the crimp bead (on both ends). Crimp, snip, and go!
I have a question. Instead of the bead stopper, why wouldn't you just put a clasp on one end before you start beading? Seems like it would waste less wire.
Hi Katy! I prefer a bead stopper in case I want to change up the design - add a little more to one end, mix it up, or completely start over - but adding one half of the clasp is a fine way to do it too!
Thanks for the video. I am wondering if this kind of write snaps if it is worked back and forth too much. This happened to me with some wire I had. But I think I had the wrong kind of wire. thx
Hi Ellen! This is from Susan: Any wire will eventually break if you stress a certain point over and over again. Bending it work hardens it to the point if being brittle. Some wire just does it faster. Hope this helps!
I watched a video where the person used a crimp tool the wrong way, but I didn’t realize that until now. No wonder I was having issues with the crimp beads breaking at times. I’ll be less stressed next time I use crimp tubes and beads now that I’ve seen this video.
So my question is what's the difference between the material you used to string the first and second bracelet? I understand that the second bracelet was stretch cord.
Hi Nicole! Great question! Bead stringing wire is a wire made up of several, thin steel wires that are woven or wound together (in this case, it's 19 strands to make up one complete wire - it's basically the same concept as how industrial power cables are constructed). It's often coated with a thin layer of nylon that helps protect the beading wire from wear and gives it a softer feel. It comes if 7, 19 and 49 strand, which as this suggests, gives you strength according to the type of project your doing and how heavy your beads are. 49 strand will be the strongest and used for heavier beads. Beading wire is malleable, but does not have the elasticity (or pull) like your stretch cord does. With bead stringing wire, you will need to use crimps to hold it together, whereas you can simply knot stretch cord to finish the bracelet. Hope this helps!
This will largely depend on the size of the hole in your pumpkin bead coupled with the type of design you are trying to accomplish. Honestly, you'll just have to test it out with a few different gauges, but most beads will require 20ga wire or smaller.

hi, I was wondering, what is the difference between the soft wire and hard wire, I guess uses. I see some projects and sometimes don’t know if its a hard or soft wire your using. I’d like to do some heavier wired earrings with swirls, I’m just a little confused about which to use and when, all the way down to making earring hoops and the hooks you use , do you use a hard wire for the hooks on earrings and soft for bending swirl type decorative loops. They are easy to follow and the videography is crisp and we'll edited.
I would have appreciated more close-ups. Especially for the wire technique. I can’t seem to get the hang on that loop bending 90 degree angle thingy.

Great question! I add a clasp juts the same as always -- thread the silk through a crimp bead, then the clasp finding and back through the crimp bead (on both ends). Crimp, snip, and go!
On stretch cord I thought you doubled it up so it’s really a 1 mm if using the five and in a 1.5 if you’re using the eight ! Etc.
I would love to try the second example with the 24 gauge wire and the beads. What beads are you using in the video and what are best for this? :)

For knotting...a T-pin works just as well.
Is there a suggest of a jewelery making kit that consist of most of the tools used in your video.
Great video! I can't wait to buy supplies and make my first piece of jewelry soon!
Can you please suggest which gauge wire is suitable to wrap pumpkin beads
This will largely depend on the size of the hole in your pumpkin bead coupled with the type of design you are trying to accomplish. Honestly, you'll just have to test it out with a few different gauges, but most beads will require 20ga wire or smaller.
What size crimp bead are you using with what size string and wire? Also what size crimp cover?
after stringing, how to attach the clasp firmly to the string?( at the end).
Thank you
I ABSOLUTELY, LOVE your site 💓‼️

In general, we recommend using half hard or hard for earring hoops and hooks. Good luck!
Do you recommend people stretch the elastic before stringing so it doesn't stretch out with wear?
The jury is out on this one! I use elasticity and I have never found that I have to do that, but many people swear by this trick. It certainly does not hurt the elastic to pre-stretch it so stretch away!
