Ahhh the Legend of Zelda sound when you pulled down your blinds!! 😍Behold, some unsolicted advice--feel free to ignore, it just helped me when I learned it: for shelf-hanging, if you put a long strip of painters tape on the back of the shelf frame and mark where the holes are, then peel off the tape and put it on the wall and level the marks there. Then drill the holes, peel off the tape, and then put the shelf frame/shelf on! I adore the end result! And the color scheme in the bathroom is SO pretty! Julie has such an amazing eye for color. 🥰
The bathroom looks great! Julie has a really good sense of color matching. The shelves look straight to me. Remember to take in to account that walls may be crooked in old houses.

I think the kitchen color is great. It goes with the wood but if you don’t like it, I would definitely go with a lighter muted green with gray undertones. Also, you may want to takeoff the painters tape first because here’s the issue the longer you leave it up the harder it is to get off and then it takes paint off. Can’t wait to see your progress. Congratulations on a gem in the making.
I love hanging out with you digitally! I moved in the summer but I was so busy and broke that only now I get to style it and make it cozy, it feels good to see another 30 something year old woman living on her own struggeling with a drill and what not! Okay, so I just started watching your first video of you unpacking/organizing your apartment and watching this video, I just realized something. You look so happy.
I think it's easy to forget to just live in the moment and feel grateful/happy for the present moments and thats something I've realized while watching a few of your vlogs for the past hour or two. Its startling to realize how comforting you are because you're just you. There no loud music, captions, huge dramatic cuts and what not but just a simple 30 year old woman living and figuring out her next step. It's so comforting to know that literally anyone can be lost and still figuring out what to do or where to go, that anyone can suddenly decide that "this" or "that" isn't for them anymore and change to better themselves.
Watching these past few videos give me such nostalgia (and a bit emotional for some reason) and I just wanted you to know that your content and personality and small moments of encouraging words help so much. Its very reassuring and I'm excited to see you grow to love yourself and grow into that confidence you've always had!

I LOVE your AUTHENTICITY! You are not creating some impractical Pinterest home, but a genuine, cozy, super-delightful and functional space. I enjoy watching your progress and hearing your thought processes as you make your space your own. Maybe add some decorative bed pillows with colors, to create a cozy “bed nest”. I love how your bathroom turned out! I have a 3M hook which hangs up with the 3M tape in my bathroom for hand towels that way you don’t have to drill anything and it’s easy. Just a thought! I also love how you tackle things like hanging shelves and taking apart beds. You are an inspiration! Keep up the good work. Thank you for bringing us along in your new journey in life.

Color can be hard - alone it’s one thing, but when the rest of the room comes together, it becomes something else. Good to give it some time to sit with it. I’ve done bright yellow, hot pink, coral, blue, purple - in stripes, diagonal lines. Gotta be patient with it, but the end result can be fabulous ❤
Greens and blues are hard, I have found.
I'm actually really digging the green! I hope it stays and that things can be added that work with it to bring it all together.

Now that you've figured out how to put up shelving, how about putting some shelves on the wall above your dresser in the bedroom. They would be great for books and a few decorative items. They would also be a good place for small things you lose, hats, keys, scarves, etc.
NO!!! Definitely NOT boring! I could watch you put q-tips individually into a cute container & I wouldn't be bored! 😊 So happy the dresser fits so perfectly & great job on the blinds! 👍
I found it super interesting when you talked about trying to temper the blue of the bathroom tile with offsetting accessories colors! It was clear to the eye through the video that just bringing in that shelving, towels, and rug has such an impact. Color and the interplay of colors is fascinating. I took an art history course on Van Gogh and that's where I really learned about the effect of opposites on the color wheel, how he used that to create visual energy, etc. It can be like magic what one can do through knowingly combining certain colors! Awesome job showing us your process, Chelsea! Loving this series!!

I am so excited to see how this apartment turns out!! As a broke 20 year old college student living with my parents (blessed that I have the ability to do that right now) I'm living my independent having my own apartment dream vicariously through you. You are so inspiring, and you make you so excited and hopeful to get older and have my own place. Even though I will have to work 5 days a week and deal with bills and adult stressors, having my own place to decorate and call my own will make it worth it
Love the bathroom edits. The different muted/natural tones really make the blue look more ‘duck egg blue’ as opposed to the same blue as the sky in The Truman Show dome. The ochre/mustard towel and the squidgy mat are my personal favourites. Excellent job with the shelves and blinds too 🎉
Okay so I've been watching your videos for a few months now and have grown more and more brave to leave a comment. 😅 But today your video inspired me to give my bathroom a deep clean and a redecorate a bit! Something I've been putting off for months due to burnout. Now I have my own little spa. Awww you did such a great job with the bathroom!! 😍Can't wait to see the rest of the appartment! Don't worry too much about the green in the kitchen for now, you can always change the color at the end of the make over when everything else is set. But I suggest Sage Green I think you can never go wrong with this color! Also, it helps when you have a fixed color palette to use for the whole appartment so that everthing matches and looks coherent. You can choose 2 Main Colors that you would see mostly a lot around the appartment for big furniture + 3 Accent Colors for small accessories to play around and add more dimension and textures. You can totally use the beautiful colors that you and Julie chose for the towels! Love you! 😘

It gets better and worse as years go by...enjoy the ride, appreciate the good people in your life and the loneliness/isolation is unpalatable at times especially in a big urban city---don't give up, try new things and you are very brave person! Take care and get a cat from the shelter please when you are ready..will help a lot.

Great make over! You might consider hooks that go over the top of the door to hang towels on so that you have more room on your wall towel rack.

Can relate to being a people pleaser. It took me 30 years to realise that. At the end of the day, what others want from me, may not be what makes me happy. I don't know why we get teached that others happiness is more important then our own. As you said, it's really hard sometimes.
a little tip with painting -- don't leave the tape on for a long time it can really mess up the paint when you take it off.
Nice job, Chelsea! The bathroom looks cozy now and I love the colors. FYI there are towel bath mats you can buy. Looks like the one you have is a bath rug and it looks great. You could hang the towel bath mat over the edge of the tub and throw it down on the floor while showering and use it when stepping out, to absorb the water and keep the rug dry. Then rehang it over the tub and wash it with your towels. Looking forward to more vids!
Love the new bathroom decor. You can use a nice bamboo room divider to hide the washing machine.

A GREAT storage hack in a small (little storage option) in a bathroom is to place a shelf over the door above the molding. You can store extra towels and TP over the door
The bathroom looks so good. Mixing in some muted, different blue really tempers that mid century powder blue. Your shower curtain hooks-if you swap your decorative curtain to the outside clip of the double, then it’ll be easier to take off the liner for washing/replacing. Less pfaffing around with multiple layers on the one side.

I love the bathroom! If you can, get some large hooks to put on the wall above your metal rack and hang your extra towels there - they will look good and hang out of the way until you need to use them. Alternatively, you could hang them on the hooks to dry, hooks work very well for that. I also like the blue in the bedroom, the bed is very cozy and it adds a nice splash of color without being too jarring. Nice to see you settling in!

We moved into our small funky house, 15 years ago, and have still never fully recovered. in fact, we still never fully unpacked. We are committed not to move again until we have to move from West Chester to Nebraska after we retire and another 10 years. Chelsea - great job on the bathroom. We've used command hooks for hanging towels in tight places. It might work for your hand towels.
Not boring relaxing, yer gettin it done! It be looking good. Now the finishing touch, suggestion.A small plant fake or real. Even good quality faux plants trick your brain into thinking there's something green and living. Psycologicqlly you get a boost from having indoor garden, plant action. When I lived in Boston I had to fight the sunlight deprevation depression with, Vitamin D, cyrcadian lamps and plants. It worked, but as I aged snow became the enemy. Hence my jungle life. And here's the craziest thing..ready? I listen to snowstorm videos to help me sleep. How nuts is that? I do miss the East Coast. much aloha, peace out.

I’ve heard with strong colors they work well as accent wall! Later, If you still feel eh about ur kitchen, maybe repaint three of the walls back to white and keep one of them that green color :)

little tip if u wanna give the bathroom some spce without taking space away from the shelfs: hang up some art! find some cute things at your local thrift store or at the target and just put up one or two on the wall next to the sehlves where nothing is going on!
Chelsea, green changes colour depending on the light. I painted my lounge area in a green and I loved how the morning and evening light changed the atmosphere from cool, calm to undersea vibes. That was years ago in another home and now I’m about to paint my new lounge area green to try to imitate that vibe. See how it goes as you become used to it! You’re doing a great job!
