Meditation has transformed my life in many ways. Contrary to popular belief, it's not about having a completely quiet mind. It's about noticing our thoughts and learning to let them pass by without getting caught up in them.
Without stressing too hard about it, we want to place ourselves in the present moment. When I sit down to meditate, I begin by focusing on my breath. I observe the sensation of the air moving in and out of my body, and use it as an anchor to bring my attention back, whenever my mind starts to wander.
Of course, my mind wanders all the time - that's just what minds do! But with daily practice, I've begun to learn to recognise when thoughts have drawn me away from the present moment. From here I can gently bring my attention back to my breath, and start again.
As I observe my thoughts and emotions without judgment, I connect with a deeper part of myself. This part of us is always there, but it's easy to lose sight of it in the midst of our busy lives. Through meditation, I've learned to find it more regularly, and it has brought me greater ease and freedom.
Overall, I highly recommend meditation to anyone who wants to find that elusive 'inner peace'. It can be challenging at first, but with patience and practice, it can truly transform your life.

Thank you! Such wonderful instruction given in a very clear and simple way!
All I would add is that meditation is for everyone, regardless of your physical condition.
Are you too old, or too out of shape to be able to sit cross-legged at all?
You can still meditate, because meditation is a practice of stillness.
It is quite possible to meditate while sitting on a firm wooden chair with both feet together on the floor in front of you.
I know this from personal experience. In my younger days I became involved with meditation through Buddhism, and
I could sit on a cushion on the floor quite easily.
Then I left Buddhism and also meditation for other things.
But as I grew older I rediscovered a new interest in "just sitting in meditation", and returned to it again.
But this time around I was in my 70's and out of shape and even a bit overweight, and I could no longer even sit cross-legged on the floor.
So, I sat on a chair . . . . a plain straight back wooden chair. I sat straight and kept my feet together on the floor in front of me.
And I began to re-apply the techniques of sitting that you point out so clearly in this video:
    - Allow your body and being to become soft and gentle even while sitting straight.
    - Let your breathe move naturally.
    - Let your thoughts come and go without following them or trying to become free of them.
I'm not a Buddhist monk, nor a Taoist sage. I'm just an out-of-shape old man in his 70s.
But I can still enjoy all of the benefits that sitting quietly in meditation and letting my mind just be can bring!

Guiding the flow of breath and energy
We guide our boat through the flow of life
    Being outwardly present,
    we make small corrections
    If trapped inside,
    we find the rocks
Anger at misfortune is to injure ourselves twice
So I dance down the river,
Enjoying the course as it appears

Great video! I agree that meditation isn’t about getting rid of one’s thoughts but I do think that it’s about inner stillness. At least it feels like that.

The amount of effort you put here is simply amazing!
I mean, preparing a content/script for this while watching your mind in a meditation is not an easy feat... I started a meditation practice, but still found myself easily distracted, I let the thoughts / sensations come and go, but sometime it lingers repeatedly in my next meditation, it can be frustrating, ngl.
By the way, thanks for this wisdom, George, I'll be sure to practice these tips in my next session.

you know sometimes just meeting head on something so big or scattered things that seem to much at the time
if they truly are to much for me anyway takes me away from everything Not because I am busy taking care of the problem but because it's so daunting my mind just escapes on vacation harmonizing with well myself?
I guess i feel sometimes things have to be let go of and I puny me won't suffice you know?
