So easy to follow your tutorials! Thank you as always for submitting your work and taking the time to show us.
Glad you found it useful!
amazing result, thank you 🙏🏻
Really good tutorial , thank you man !
Great Tutorial, thank you!
que tutorial maravilhoso irmão, Obrigado.
Simple tutorial vesy usefull for bg, great!!
thanks! What an amazing tutorial, so easy to follow
Glad you like it.
Another superb, quick and easy tutorial Chuck. Much appreciated mate!!
Thanks so much! Glad you found this useful.
This is wonderful, exactly what I was looking for
Glad to hear that!
For later version blender user , you guy need to increase subdivision viewport / render level to get depth displacement .
No ! That's not the case
Turn on experimental in render and check adaptive subdivision in subdivision modifier.
Thank you man.
I love this tuotrial.
amazing
Wow that was great thanks a lot!
Glad it was useful!
WOW this is cool! And you can make it so fast too. :)
Thank you!!!
Hey I'm a little late to this video, do you know how to make it 3d instead of a plane? I want to add a road in the middle and all of the other videos I have seen use curves on 3d.
good job
astounding tutorial! very clear and also very adaptable for other projects. thanks a lot
Thanks, glad you like it!
High density tutorial my guy, thanks.
thank you
Thank you so much! Really good tutorial!! Greetings from France! 🥖🍷🐓
Thanks man! Greetings from Mexico!
is there a way of doing it in 4.1 ? it dosnt work even though i activate experimental and all that
Very nice trick with using smooth F1 and the stretching of the micro noise. Thanks! I played with the wave texture to get some wind-sand patterns but haven't perfected it yet. Think some sand whisps could be simulated with a volume over the sand using a slow moving noise?
Thanks, yes it might work, i,d like to see the result!
Hey Daniel, nice to see you here mate. If you figure out how to get some sand blowing using procedurals that would be awesome. I will play around with this as well.... maybe using drivers to simulate the movement... creating a duplicate of the plane and putting a transparent shader with some sand color on it, then using a mixRGB to drag the transparency in the scene and using a driver on a mapping node.... hummm I will be trying this tomorrow.
@@dannybouchard4140 yeah I made a slowly 4d evolving Musgrave shifting on the Y over the sand using a copied sand mesh but moved up a little bit. Havnt rendered to see how it looks yet. A closeup could be cool with an emitter and a vortex to make it spin when going over a dune.
Gracias como siempre, mi amigo. Your tutorials are always so clear. Question: do you have a tutorial where you cover converting this type of procedural landscape into geometry? I'm thinking it would involve baking or something?
Glad you find it helpful, unfortunately we can't convert this into geometry, as this is only an effect of cycles, there's no real geometry, the ANT landscape wich is included in blender has a preset for dunes, but i would use GAEA for something like this.
when I export it as fbx it shows as a flat plane with out the dunes. can you help ? btw great tutorial I got amazing results.
Unfortunately this will work only in bleder, because shaders in other softwares are different, but you could use A.N.T Landscape addon in blender, you can create terrain and export it, just enable in addons.
how do I export this and put it in another blender world type thing?
Here is a video that maybe explains
ruclips.net/video/s24kSjRAUNo/видео.html
Hey Chyck thanks a bunch. Can you tell me how can this be exportet to obj, as I am having troubles with Fusion360 recognizing this only as plane?
Unfortunately this can't be exported as this uses blender procedural textures this is only for blender but if you want to export a terrain you can use blender addon A.N.T landscape wich is included in blender , here i talked about it, ruclips.net/video/pLfHTTeSvs8/видео.html
@@chuckcg I get it now. Blender works a lot differently than some programs I am used to. Thanks a bunch, I will take a look at that
@@chuckcg Hey man, I watched the video and did it in A.N.T. and it seems to be exactly what I need. Thanks for the advice. However I have one more question. How the hell do I return the texture properties button back to change the initial settings? I am talking about the button in the lower-left corner that appears when you add the mesh. Thanks and I am gonna watch all the videos now to learn more :D
How do you draw that rendering box in the viewport? I haven't seen that before
With control B
@@chuckcg Thank you! What a great option, I never knew you could do that!
wow how did you learn this?
Could this be exported to Unity? What it will be? Just a plan mesh, and textures/materials applying to that? Is it costly for GPU or not? I mean for mobile? Could give more details?
only for blender, this is a feature of cycles render, for games you can use GAEA
Awesome tutorial! Can you make a video where the dunescape is dynamic and moving ?
Do you mean moving the sand? Well you can animate the nodes, just hover over the node and hit i to create a keyframe
@@chuckcg Thanks, I'm new to Blender and needed to create Sand Dunes for a project I'm doing on Unity. I managed to create the effect of moving Sand Dunes by connecting the noise texture and position node to a Vector Math Node.
After applying the modifier, my model is flat. How to apply the modifier so that bumps are visible? Next i want to bake the texture, for using it in unreal engine.
Unfortunately this will work only in blender cycles, really don't know if the textures can be baked into one texture, i have never try, but if you want to create terrain in blender you can use A.N.T landscape addon included in blender, that way you would have the actual mesh.
@@chuckcg ok, ty
bro when i press ctrl+d at shading editor, nothing happens, and i enabled node wrangler.. pls help
it's control+T but you need node wrangler addon, in Edit/Preferences/addons/ enable node wrangler
Yes but then how do you bake the displacement so it's real geometry?
This is not real geometry, this is for blener only, if you want a displacement map i would use Gaea ruclips.net/video/cDPgOjvujZ8/видео.html for real geometry you can use A.N.T Landscape addon included in blender.
@@chuckcg THanks!
no matter what i cant replicate the depth like you
There must be a step you are missing, bacause it works, don't forget to enable cycles/experimental.
@@chuckcg it still refuses :/
how do u make this work in eevee
You can use a displace modifier, but you'll need a displacement map, you can also use the landscape addon that is included in blender, to create sand dunes.
what is sky texture? edit oh boy i am dumb lol. i have never used that before, and thought it was an hdri with environment texture lol /newb
It happened to me too.
It doesn't work. Some menu items are not in the program. the plane is flat and does not distort
Make sure to use cycles experimental, otherwise you won't find adaptive subdivision feature, follow all the steps in the video
Does this not work anymore?
Yes, it should work in blender 3.2, make sure to follow all steps on how to enable micropolygon displacement and adaptive subdivision in cycles.
I've followed every step but plain doesn't deform into dune, It just stays plane with dune texture
Are you using cycles experimental? The subdivision modifier with adaptive subdivision, in material tab change to displacement, there must be a step you are missing
@@chuckcg First of all thanks for replying even though the tutorial was released 2 years ago and yeah I've followed every step, I think it got something to do with Blender 4.0
@@Cerulean1851 you can always download the older versions of blender just to learn some of the tutorials, I personally have like 5 different versions of blender because the tutorials on the older versions feel WAAAYYY better than 4.0/4.1 ;-;
didnt worked with me, the plane simply doesnt create the depth
you need to use cycles experimental, make sure to follow all steps otherwise it won't work.
@@chuckcg still doesn't work, i followed every step but doesn't create the depth
@@sushicat5005 There must be some step that you are missing, because it works. use cycles, change to experimental, add subdivision surface , activate adaptive subdivision, enable displacement and bump in material tab, i think that's all
@@chuckcg do you have to do it in that exact order?
@@sushicat5005 any order.
Not working, it looks horrible on newer version
with blender 3.4 works the same, so make sure to follow all the steps to get the same result.
@@chuckcg I did but my Details are so high, the second Noise texture create too much highness and my "mountains" are different sharped as yours. Do you have discord, I can Show you it, or I can make my RUclips Profile to it so you can see
