I know you watched the OVAs a while ago but I'd also like to recommend reading the manga chapters 190-206 (in your own time) which covers the Tokyo Qualifiers arc. The reason for that is because the OVAs had to adapt a lot of content in just two 24 minute long episodes which meant they cut some stuff up, including the majority of Taketora's (the Tanaka of Nekoma) arc. It's not mandatory or anything but it's nice to see these two matches in full depth so yeah!
I'm sure Alana will read the manga and enjoy the full glory of the Nekoma team :)
Shame we don't get to see itachiyama here as they are one of the very best teams in japan but we never really get to see them play, even though they are at this qualifier

Oh btw "shit talking" has always been a part of the game of sports, in hockey, they're literally allowed to fight eachother for a bit if an argument erupts
But I don't think that's allowed in volleyball, you can only talk to the referee... one team can't talk to each other* during the match afaik
