Looking to get these as well. Are you able to control individual lights with the package you bought that is similar to the pro package? Just trying to figure out if it is worth spending the extra money for the pro
Yes, instead of selecting one of the preprogrammed scenes, you can select "color", then pick a background color. Then you can individually select each light and assign a second color to those lights. You can also choose to have that second color scroll across the string and even choose how fast it scrolls. There is a lot of individual control. You can't pick a different color for each light though.
You mentioned presets which are great, but can you do custom patterns? Like a green wash with a red chase running from one end to the other for Christmas? Also, do they sync with other systems and allow control from one spot/app?
I haven’t created any of my own scenes yet, but there appears to be a ton of control. I’m a little reluctant to get in to it because it seems like it will be time consuming, but the option is there. I’m still learning what all I can do with the Govee Home app. The lights also work with Alexa and google assistant. Thanks! The Govee Pro version is supposed to be way better for soft white. I was a little worried because I plan on using them for regular accent lighting in other seasons. As it turns out they are very adjustable and can cast a very soft white looking light. IMHO, this would not be a reason to spend the extra money on the pro version. @@jenniferfernandez8086 I'm not sure I understand what's going on. Did you damage the wires or does the unit simply not work? If you damaged the wires I would definitely try splicing them back together, if the unit arrived not working I would contact the seller and try to exchange it. Hope that helps.
@@bennieaust it was working when i tested initially but after trying to run the wires through my house, the three prongs within the connector of the controller seemed to be bent so i just tried to align them. Im not sure it was due to that reason or if the wire inside got damaged.
@@jenniferfernandez8086 If you didn't cause any visual damage to it I would probably start with seeing if they will exchange it for you.
So they say these will not do a soft white, but at the end, these look pretty damn close to
Your inside lamp that looks to be soft white. Was that a preset color, or did you need to really tweak to achieve that color?
Turned out great!
Thanks!
The Govee Pro version is supposed to be way better for soft white. I was a little worried because I plan on using them for regular accent lighting in other seasons. As it turns out they are very adjustable and can cast a very soft white looking light. IMHO, this would not be a reason to spend the extra money on the pro version.
Side note: I’m going to make an update video and I will include a blurb on the soft white. I also added a 50’ string to my shed. :)
@@bennieaust wish I saw this response before Sunday. I just purchased the 200’ pro version as soon as a set popped into stock solely over the soft white need for the other 95% use case.
@@PMPerformance, good good news is that I’m sure you’ll be very happy with them.
The non pro would have probably done the trick though.
@@bennieaust thankfully I snagged the 200’ pros on a killer deal at Costco for $499. So the sting is a little less considering the 150’ non pro’s are $449.
@@PMPerformance that was a great buy!
What's the distance between the lights themselves?
I think it’s around 14”-16”
Add the clips to the areas where the lights arent flat
I purposely did because I really want to give the adhesive a good test.
How many feet did you use???
150’
A key thing with lighting is always hit the peaks.
Can you elaborate?
@@JMAX79 on hitting the peaks? It means just that
Well? What did your wife think???
She loves them, and she was very surprised!! Huge success!
How did it cost you $450 when the product from Amazon was $299? Where is the other $150 go for? Thanks for the video after watching this I will make my decision on old school of installing/uninstalling my LEDs white lights. One of my main reasons for going your way, I have two knee replacements, the last two years my daughter installed my lights for me because I didn't feel safe on my roof/later with my new knees. I am an electrician and a DIYer but I am not getting any younger.
The regular price on the 150’ kit is $449.99. That’s what I paid for them last week. Amazon has a “Black Friday” going on right now and they are on sale for $299.99. If you are leaning towards buying these, now is the time to buy!!! I put links in the description.
@@bennieaust okay that makes sense, your video was very informative , thanks
Very informative video, thanks for creating !
@@TheEjs012303 You're welcome, thanks for watching!
man, the regular ones are $100 off, making them half the price of the Pro's.......
They are a great deal right now. I paid $450 and now for Black Friday they are on sale for $300. Hard to argue with that!
I like you and I like this video for the content but I feel like the intro part and unboxing to entirely too long that may be a little scripting would help keep it on point and not so verbose. Tell them what you're going to tell them then tell them then tell them what you told them. There is a guy that tests a lot of tools and he really gets to the point quickly and has a huge following. But I have to give you props I'm not making any videos just want to pass along what I like to watch.
I appreciate the feedback! I try to get to the point but I can definitely be long winded at times. Because of that I have been timestamping videos lately so you can skip to the good stuff. :)
Hey, Follow back up with your Wife's reaction please :)
I will! She gets home today!
Should have staggered your but splices, wouldnt look so bulky but looks great
Yeah, I totally could have. If I’m constrained by space or trying to neatly fit something in wire loom I usually do.
Thanks for watching!
Wish i was rich..
lol, me too. :) just spent all my money on a string of lights. lol
@@bennieaust 🤣 yeahh I want some but havin a hard time justifying the purchase without lots of proof of the lights longevity over multiple years in 4 season weather.
@@jsully4074 That's my concern as well. It's a lot of money any way you look at it, but if they last a long time it won't seem as bad.
@@bennieaust yeah definitely, if they last then it is well worth the investment.
Plot twist, your wife’s Boyfriend already has Govee lights at his house
Gotta keep up with the younger boyfriend. 🤷
