      Hey Crawfish, that's for saying hi. I'm enjoying a rare day off work and happened to look up at the bell. All is good, still doing most of the things I always did, just have been doing the video thing. Most of it has to do with Google taking over youtube and the lack of enjoyment I do not believe it's a moral or ethical organization. I'm not sure if not posting videos is the answer but perhaps I'll fire the operation back up at some point. Thanks for reaching out, man!

    Very very solid review buddy! The warping is similar to kydex when heated it softens then retains the last shape. Good to know the performance is not hindered. Thanks for checking output. That's definitely a marketing move to get it to rise above the rest. I think where this panel really shines is price and weight. Thanks buddy

    • @Patriot36
      @Patriot36  7 лет назад +2

      Hey buddy! Yeah, given the size and weight, the performance is darn reasonable! Conservatively, if you were stationary in camp, you could charge 1-2 plus sized iphone's per day, depending on sunlight. Out here in AZ two full charges would be easy. Not bad for the weight of a 3000mah batt bank that never runs out as long as there's sun.

    I bought two of them. I have the RAV Solar panel and battery bank nice but heavy. Mine are stiffer than yours, bought in 2018. Even though a double pane window on an angle it charges a Windows phone at half the wall receptacle rate. Good stuff

      Hi Keefo. Thanks for the message. I've always really enjoyed the interaction with people like yourself, however the political climate that Google has created/promoted has made the platform a joke. Other channels have made it through advertising themselves and pushing their "brand" in other areas of social media, sponsors and Patreon. Problem is, I don't want to push a brand, promote myself or my content and I don't want my viewers to have to pay for it. I want it to be free for you. RUclips has made that nearly impossible with many of the types of videos I upload, via demonetization. I don't mind getting paid by people who are capitalizing here through advertisements, that's perfectly fine. If RUclips thinks guns and knives are bad, they demonetize your videos and they operate like crime bosses. If things change here and i don't think they will, I'll probably upload regularly. Or I'll move to Rumble or some other free, open, honest, tolerant platform. RUclips is intolerant while proclaiming tolerance and it's pathetic. If I upload videos to Rumble, I'll announce it here. Thanks Keefo and I hope you're doing well.

    1:45 Excuse me, of course, but where did you get the power 5.5W...6W??? In fact, the maximum power of this panel is about 3.75W and under conditions of a strong voltage drop (4.2V), therefore not every power bank can accept such power from this panel, much less a smartphone. I am more than sure that many power banks and smartphones, when charging from such a panel, will not be able to receive more than 2.5W of power from it...

    Awesome topic! It's still so hard to get good solar product these days,for a fair prize. Wonder why! Whit the continuous evolving demand from our daily technology(phone, earpiece, gps, intelligent watch,flashlight, Ipod etc) it's still a headache. At least those power bank help for consistency, like you said. thanks again for sharing! Keep charging my friend...

    • @Patriot36
      @Patriot36  7 лет назад

      Yeah, I'm charging a phones, a watch, a couple of headlamps and VHF radios. The powerbanks make this reasonably convenient but what happens when you're away from a vehicle for a few days? I carried my 10W Goal Zero a couple of times but it weighs almost a pound. No biggie by itself but by the time I carry a pack, binoculars and a bow or rifle it starts to take a toll. With this, I can charge devices at camp with a bigger panel and use this to keep another powerbank topped off while on the move.

    The panel you have looks different then the one you showed off Amazon. It's shaped differently. Maybe that's the discrepancy and wattage?

      Hey Matt, here's the link: www.amazon.com/Docooler-Portable-Monocrystalline-Effiency-Activities/dp/B01MCXZJ8Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1504407910&sr=8-1&keywords=docooler+10w+solar+panel
      Check out the last picture. The panel can ship in two versions. Both panels are identical other than the slightly reduced light collection footprint in the one with the pinched middle. This has to do with the way the Sunpower brand panels are cut in the raw. Both with have output within 1% of each other. Thanks brother.

  • @fullsleevetats

    It's unclear from the various photos, descriptions and videos I've seen on this... but does this include its own voltage regulator or charge controller in that little USB hump on the back?

    • @techobsessed1
      @techobsessed1 5 лет назад

      The hump houses a small buck converter. It does its best to output 5v, but as you might expect, voltage sags if the supply can't keep up.

      I don't know DZ... My guess is that they're competing against the Kingsolar products and as we've seen for the last 20 years from an economically growing China, moral responsibility isn't even a term the culture knows. As these companies grow and become more integrated with western businesses we sometimes see a shift for the better. I've watched this over the years with many of the Chinese flashlight companies who've grown and done we'll. Others never change and they go out of business in a few years. American ethics is on the downfall too, however, so I don't claim any 'high ground' for the US. The corrosive nature of decades of liberal ideology is beginning to show its out workings.

    • @techobsessed1
      @techobsessed1 5 лет назад

      @@Patriot36 It's not like the current "conservative" savior president isn't a lifelong chiseler and cheat.
      The people bleeding you dry are happy to see you blaming liberal ideology for it, though. The good old days never were.

    • @techobsessed1

      The specs are probably inflated, but you couldn't actually tell that without knowing the conditions under which the specifications are derived, and the actual test conditions.
      Typical solar test conditions seem to be 1kW/m2 of sunlight, with the cell at 25°C.
      Were those the test conditions here? Well, this video was posted in early fall and shot somewhere in the US, and at least some of the testing happened in the afternoon. The input certainly wasn't 1kW/m2 then, and the panel temperature was a lot higher than 25°C.
