You have the wing mirror version. Believe me the mirror cam version is truly aweful. We have recently acquired 15 of them and they are universally hated. Drivers refuse to drive them, the cameras lack clarity, have no depth or perception and are like looking at a poor quality VHS tape. The view is too narrow, they don’t pan with the trailer when you reverse. Technology that isn’t fully developed.
I drove a brand new one, still in the wrapper straight from the factory. Had daf out twice first day cameras packed in. They couldn't fix it because they didn't know the problem being knew tech. All they could do was disconnect the battery to reset and hope for the best. Who needs that. Still don't know what's so bad about normal mirrors.
Having driven mirror cameras and normal conventional mirrors since 2020, believe you me,the DAF mirror cameras are way way way better than the Mercedes mirror cameras!! (Even though the DAF mirror cameras are still shit). You can just about get used to them in under a week. At one point, I was driving Mercedes mirror cameras for 18 months straight, and I still can’t get reverse onto bay straight 🤦♂️🤣 You are right! Why change a problem that doesn’t need fixing! I’ve heard a common problem of DAF mirror cameras is that the electrics now fail as well!🤦♂️
Camera mirrors, a bad solution to something that didn’t need fixing. Driving an XG with camera mirrors on a narrow unlit road ( or any road for that matter ) at night is the stuff of nightmares you can see f**k all! I’d go as far to say ban them! on safety grounds. A truly stupid idea just to save a few litres of fuel. 🙄
Putting digital screens in vehicles, apparently, is cheaper than analogue buttons and switches and dials/gauges. It's a cost cutting exercise from what I've heard. I thing the interior looks quite neat. I've been in an Actros which is going along the same lines, but the touch screen technology in the one I drove had some negatives. Hill start assist for example wouldn't stay on and I had to keep navigating the screen to it to turn it on. I'd rather that was on a button, not deep in some inconvenient menu. I'd love to have a go in this XG, although I'm not certain I'd give up the electric truck I've been driving.
Good video, DAF made a huge leap forward with the new model. You're wrong about the steering, it is entirely conventional but I also felt it's much nicer than the previous one. DAF also did a good thing by making the engine more audible, much alike the Scania, but a major difference is the wind noise on the motorway, the new one is really quiet, the old one generated a lot of wind noise. The gearbox is mechanically the same yes, but changes are definitely quicker. Personally I think they made the drivers display menu way too complicated, it's not a problem for younger drivers but the seniors could have real problems with it, just like the Mercedes.
Our company has just got 3 of the new DAF XG they are a really nice drive. Very spacious & comfortable seating and bedding. Plenty of storage that's a bonus. Full camera mirrors in stead of the conventional mirrors. They are good but when the camera looses sight of the rear of the trailer on reverse it looses focus an moves off que ! But my biggest bug is the driver window ! It does not fully wind down so you can hang out your window properly for backup if that's how you like to do things ? You are basically hovering over your seat ! Other than that it's a good all round truck 🙏🏻
When I need mega power, I go Scania but, my daily is xg+ 530 and I absolutely love it. It's getting to the line with high end luxury-ish cars in a truck... I'm glad the days of giving drivers shit trucks are gone. We spend 65% of our lives in trucks and deserve some refinement and quality.

Such a nice and clean cab and he walks around with his shoes on. So painful to watch😢 💔😅
Trust me when I say it the inside was NOT clean. I would not take my shoes off in that truck. And was a trampers truck. Not to mention the fifth wheel grease stains on the bed...
@@Raul689 I do take that back then, it looked lovely on the camera. Really impressed with the interior, would love to have a go at the new DAF. Keep on trucking, love the videos👌
weird place for a horn
Goes on about the safety aspect of the mirror. And parks it on a pavement and on the wrong side (illegal) f*** the neighbours.
It was a tipping place. Was doing some furniture deliveries
Tipping place? Again parking the way it was and making a video just shows the disrespect for the property owners and disregard for vulnerable residents of the community. Kids could be harmed or worse. But at least got a shiny daff with good mirrors and speakers.
Only 2 charge ports and no auto climate control definately poverty fleet spec
Having driven the new even more uncomfortable DUF, Scania remains THE unit. ps. Info system is crap and screen scratched up in a few shifts.....and as many with backaches know, DUF is cheap and nasty and very affected by passing trucks....horrid and a right Fck'up.
Cheap Scania copy in the way it looks, the driving position and what it feels like to drive. That’s not a compliment btw because Scania’s are well over rated.
A lorry like that parked on pavement outside houses will damage the pavement 😮 if I lived there, I would be telling you to piss off. I'm sure if the council catch you, they will fine you
looks good drives crap
What you doing standing in it in your boots scruff
You couldn't see it on the camera but it was not clean at all. No chance I'm taking my shoes off in that. And was a trampers truck
