  • At some point in your filmmaking career you’ll be asked to film interviews. Which requires editing down a long video clip of loose points into a short cohesive story. This tedious skillset is learned overtime, but even though I’ve editing hundreds of interviews diving into an edit it can still be a daunting task especially for those starting out it. But I recently came across an editing technique that has saved me time and energy that I use to spend early on in the process. And now I’m able to speed up my editing workflow by beginning my project with this technique. And frankly I wish I knew this earlier!

Do you edit interviews? If so, do you think this technique will help your workflow?

Definitely useful, thanks for this tip! I just sent a video to a client yesterday with timecode and asked them to tell me what they want to cut down from their 20min video to get it down to 5 minutes and having this transcription will definitely help them expedite that process. I’m going to send them the transcription today. Thanks again!

Nice! I’ve never worked that way with a client before, but yes! That transcription will be super helpful for them! Checks for spelling errors before hand and you’ll be good to go. Glad it was helpful!

@@NatesFilmTutorials Well, personally I always try to look for lighting tricks or just filmmaking tips/tricks in general. I found you on reddit, someone posted your lighting with mirrors tutorial, it's original and affordable.

You could have taken the 10 seconds to show us HOW to do it. This is kinda like: Need to to build a house? Use a hammer! Thanks, g'night! :)
I had to go to another youtube vid for the specifics

Can you clarify? Do you mean you'd like to see it done in realtime like a step by step guide? I feel all the information is there you can see how I use it in the video

@@NatesFilmTutorials I felt the same. Based on the overview you gave, this is a super handy technique. That being said, I have no idea how to do what you explained in the video.
