Thanks much for watching friend! As always, catch ya in the next one.

ps. Remember, life's better when you make stuff!
Dude, the simple task of dragging the footage that you want into another video track ALONE blew my mind. This was super helpful. I'm working on my first documentary and my process of choosing what I wanted was to keep copy pasting stuff further into the timeline. Lots of constant scrolling left and right that caused a lot of frustration.
dope! specially that "constant gain" part, very useful I must say :)
+Muaz Osman -- Good to hear Muaz!
I agree ... I hate when there is an obvious audio change
You are a hidden gem on RUclips. I wish I found your videos much sooner.
Great tips on workflow as well. Very practical!
Keep it up Levi!
+Caleb Hansen stoked you found it! How did you run into them? If you ever have any questions let me know. I run a weekly newsletter as well that you can sign up for at leftcoast.co

A guy I follow on vimeo. Was looking at what he 'liked' on vimeo. "UNTETHERED" came up and watched that beautiful film, which I have to say you did an amazingly unreal job on. Then started to look at what else you were up to on Vimeo, then seen you had an active RUclips channel.
I'm now in the process of watching all your videos ha. I'm also in Van so it's pretty rad to see what another young guy is producing.
I'll definitely sign up for it.
I'm sure I'll have some questions as well.
Thanks Bro!
This was super helpful since I'll be working on editing interviews soon! Very well explained and direct to the point as well. :) Thank you for sharing! Definitely subscribed and checking your other videos out!
pls keep making videos, you make things soooo easy to learn, I just found this video and it helped me tons!!!! dont stop!!!!
One of the best videos, really instructive!
That was awesome. To the point and easy to follow. Thanks Levi!
just came across in 2020. I'm working on my own edit and appreciate this
Haha... I'm in the same boat! :^)
I'm working on my first testimonials for a client, and this was super helpful .. THANK YOU!!
Thanks for sharing the piece about constant gain! I've been trying to figure out a good way to join audio clips to get rid of that clipping noise.
Oh wow this way of editing: separating & grouping has cut down on my editing time, alot. I found it easier for me to be more decisive when choosing sound bites.
🤘🏼😆🤘🏼 I subscribed
Great information! This video was very useful for my first interview edit! Thank you so much! (P.S. Great work with the PLFL house raising!)
Thanks this was reallllly useful... i shot a interview while wrestling someone with a gopro... I usually try to not cut footage as i feel it no longer is organic, but it really made sense after watching this, and i hope its helped mine.
Man, i have so much to learn about film making! Thanks for sharing this with me! :)
Dude, I enjoyed this video a lot. I'm a tennis ball who does interviews, and I am looking for ways to make static interview situations dynamic. Thanks for putting into words stuff I know subconsciously. This was my first vid from you, but I subbed and I am gonna watch more.
I'm watching this in 2020 and its suuuuuper helpful - thank you so much for doing this!
Great video, I edit interviews for my company but as a designer I'm not that great with video. I mostly use AE which is not great for this sort of editing. This helps with narrowing down footage, skimming through and making cleaner cuts. I can then use a dynamic link to take it to AE. Also agree with others, constant gain is a great tip. Thanks.
This is helpful! Working on a documentary at the moment, and finding the structure with the combining interviews can be difficult
Very Awesome Tutorial! Very straight forward and to the point. The Ah/Um edit was exactly what I was looking for.
- Great to hear it was helpful!
Hey man, I've just found your channel and i like your work! Thnaks for the tutorial. Do you have any video where you explain a bit about your gear? (shooting and the computer). Big up!
Thanks! These were really helpful tips
Really helpful, watching this for the second time
Incidentally, you can drag all the clips up to the next track and then you can select all the clips on track 1 and ripple delete to get rid of all the holes. You do need to remember to cut the audio tracks too. Grouping your audio tracks with the original clip can make that easier.
Awesome! Like someone said, You're a hidden gem on youtube!
I'd love to see how you incorporate your questions, whether you can hear you speaking or it's in a title slide... etc!
thank you for sharing your work process!
Awesome pointers, thanks. Only difference I would add is when cutting bits out I use CMD+K and then 'Q' on where I want to restart, makes it a little faster skipping the gap deleting. Then I use Shift+D to quickly transition the audio over multiple cuts.
Great tips. My workflow has changed quit a bit since this. I should update this video
I genuinely appreciated this and I found some useful information herein. Thanks friend.
Glad to hear it!
This video is gonna help me so much!! Thank you x
Really helpful tutorial, keep it coming! :)
You have saved so many hours of my time.
Thanks. Thanks for confirming I am not crazy. Great video
this Tutorial Gives Me Ideas
Thanks Bro
Really nice, thanks man
This is a prime example of when the youtube algorithms screwed up - this should have so many more views
Very helpful Levi...thanks
Thank you so much Allen
You are sooooooo good !!! Very clean, helpful tutorials. You made a true fan out of me !
AlexMorellon hey man, stoked to have you on board. Do you haver any questions I can answer in my next tutorials?
Leftcoast Media House Hmm.. I have one or two : How do you go about grading efficiently a movie. I loose my mind in premiere, trying to have consistency throughout the film.
Also, let's say your in a wedding, do you always shoot 60p, so you can have slow mo if need be, or straight 24p?
Besides the smaller size file, what are the real benefits of shooting 24p ?
If I have other questions to ask, I'll let you know ! And thank you for caring.
+AlexMorellon thanks for the questions these are great! I will definitely try answer them, you can join my weekly newsletter at Http://Leftcoast.co/llective so follow all me new content : )

Excellent video bro.

Great video, very helpful thank you :)
Great tutorial, thanks! I'm going to try to apply this to iMovie which is what I use. Wish me luck!
+Esther Beaton -- Awesome stoked to hear that. imovie is great! I've definitely edited a tonne of projects on it.
Good info. Thank you.
It's fun to see how You not yet ( when recording this video) have learnt some of the key shorcuts for how to work fast. Great vid thought :)!
+Alexander Nilsson - I know right?
Sure cracked me up;). So easy to be "after-wise" as we say here in Sweden. Have an awesome day, and thanks for helping me become a better editor! If you're ever in sweden - say hi!
/Alex
You might already know that but a quick little tip:
pressing CTRL+K cuts the clip right where the blue line currently is. tha tmakes the process a lot faster
Thank you, this really helped me.
+SJ Productions Awesome! Thats great to hear. If you have any other questions let me know!
Pretty nice way how to go on about it. Do you also add markers so you know in which clip they talk about what when you mash those person's clips together or are you simply playing them to find the right piece at any time?
awesome video, thank you!
Hi ! great tutorial tks!. Is there a "constant gain" feature or effect for Resolve?
thank you so much for this 🤝
Love it.
GREAT! Thanks for sharing :)
Great tutorial 😀😀

Thanks Julian Smith.
thanks man.
Very nice
cheers thanks
For interviewing, I'm stuck with the questions.
I don't know what question should or shouldn't ask?
Hi thank you so much :)
I have one question.. If I made my decisions and chose the best topics and sentences, but then the client says he wants me to emphasize different topics or sentences.
Will you look at your whole interview again to find the right parts or you have a better solution?
And how did you edit this video? The zooming in and out and the covering up of the screen cap video. Please please tell me. :)
thank you bro
thank you sir
Good job
how do i make a similar transition of "constant gain" in IMOVIE?
Thank you :)
what is your go to camera and lense for interviews?
Thank you this has been helpful alot,Im starting a youtube channel and need all the help..thank youbso much
Whos watching in quarantine?
Btw could your create a video going through all the effects and stuff
4:08 drives me nut. Use the “q” and “w” keys to ripple trim. It makes editing so much quicker.
Totally. I've got several videos describing ripple editing. This video is pretty old for me, I don't know if at this point I even ripple edited regularly.
thank youu
what type the camera do you use for this interview? can u let me know please?
facts !
Ashton Kutcher! I was wondering where you'd gone.
First time I’ve heard of Constant again… wow…
which app or program are you using?
how did you colour-code the footage
I am! (watching in 2020)---would you overlay music over an interview?
is there any tutorial about editing yourself speaking as 2 person without using the clone effect? like talking to yourself. Want to make a little bit funny videos that's why i'm wondering.
Thank You for this Tutorial you are an awesome tutor. 😊
Does anyone know if Final Cut has "constant gain"?
Does openshot also have constant gain?
How do I get this Premier
Whos watching this in 2019 ? haha
Me ....
@@flavourtasters Me too
Me also
I am! Why be rude!?? Its a great video!!!
Sup!
If you use a DSLR to get the footage, how would you transfer the file from the camera onto the desktop?
Hi Leena. It depends on the DSLR and your computer, but typically your DSLR will have a removable SD memory card, and oftentimes your computer will have an SD slot. Then just drag and drop from folder to folder. But if your computer does not have an SD slot, you may have to get a SD to USB adapter. OR your camera may have come with a cord that can go directly from the camera into your computer, in which case use that lil guy. Good luck!
@@jacobmossmedia8794 Thank you!
What Video Editor Did You Use?
Can U Tell Me Sir.
premiere pro
Nice tut, just a thought, maybe lower down the background music a bit? I know this video is old but anywayyyss! love yourvideos tho.
+Maria Fernanda Gonzalez - good feedback, I've removed background music entirely from most of my tutorials now.
I personally enjoyed the music :) Thanks for the tutorial, you've got a new subscriber!
Dude looks like Ashton Kutchner lmaoo
Does your music need to be crazy loud compared to your vocals? Asking for a friend.
this video is 5 years old and one of my first tutorials ever. Chill
@@Levi_Allen Just being funny. Sorry. Ill give you a thumbs up and a subscribe for my mean joke. Very helpful video man!
Lets assume you are interviewing someone live via skype or hangouts or even phone ins, and they sware or say something racist and such how would one go about putting enough delay on the live streaming of an interview and being able to catch out the cuss word or racial slurs to avoid videos being demonetised
