Canon Masterclass
Check out my course for more tips: www.canonmasterclass.com/course/interview
the lighting and color grade is damn nice!
it has freckles and pores on one camera and not on the other. It makes too much of a difference to me. The T-shirt is blue on one camera and yellow on the other. It makes too much of a difference for me.
The quality is extraordinary
Thanks!
This guy has everything for him light, color grading, beard pepper gray, the camera with blue eyes okay now.... imma head out now
That grade is masterclass!
I have 2 camera set up for RUclips , the second one I add a small motion in post, but should I look at that camera when speaking ? Or like you, keep looking at camera 1? People feedback say it’s weird I’m not looking at camera 2
Thanks
Your intro has the "Bad Lip Reading" sound
thanks for the tips - please make a tutorial on how you set up the lighting and what ones you use. IT LOOKS ON POINT!!!!
This just makes me want all of the toys haha. Killer video, brother.
This video fidelity is extremely impressive.
Thanks! I think for this Canon 50mm, the sweet spot for bokeh and sharpness is f/2.2
Hello - great video. Is there a rule of timing of when you switch from one camera to the other please?
@@PeterAziza You switch when they make a mistake, cough, forget their lines or fart (no really, it happens)!
boy :D ... my first thought was i'm watching an animated AI :D ... your color grading is extraordinary, dude.
This helps a lot. I'm going to shoot my first professional interview next week and I have Canon 5D mark IV and Panasonic GH5 and they are different as you may know color space and the overall look, but the production value is not that high so I guess it should be ok. I have a question. What mic should I use I have Rode mic and Saramonic lava mic system. I don't know what's better. Thank you!!
you have really nice taste for color grading and the sharpness of the main cam is unmatched. well done
That's also why b-roll and graphics are handy :) But good stuff!!!
Thanks! I have to confess I prefer to use a single cam and embrace the jump cut these day. It’s just easier to get started shooting
Great video, thanks! Could you grade the XC10 closer to the C200? There's a big difference in the richness of color. I'm using a C100 with a Sony NEX as B cam but I've been considering the XC10 so I can shoot everything in CLOG or Canon Wide DR
I havent watched this guy in a like month and now he looks 20 years older. BY ODIN'S BEARD!
I've returned from the distant future to save you from bad camera work :)
This is probably the greatest youtube response, ever ha!@@Crimsonengine
@@Crimsonengine Hahaha!!
Serious question: Do you use makeup on your forehead/temples for videos? The glare is perfect and I would love to know if it is lighting/grading or if makeup is involved.
I don't :) I think what you're seeing is a large key light. I think its a lightmatt 2L
@@Crimsonengine Thanks. Incredible fidelity. Are the whites in the background to your left overexposed? Does that help get the crystal clear detail on your face?
This is great, three years later and I just came across it by luck and algorithm 👍
You’re very handsome I came to find out about cameras but got caught off guard by how handsome you are wow!!!
My thoughts exactly!
Are you shooting on your c200? The image quality is amazing.
JIMGO, mate! OK, terrif, I can do it! One thing, CAM A is real GOO-D. What is it - RED? BLACKMAGIC? Oh, CANON. Well I want a track. I understand 2 cam presenting. Now I can use it. Good work Rob. -Bluey AHQ PTY LTD
Holy moly that's some clean picture
Man, I didn’t hear anything you said 😂 got so caught up in that quality of your video.. I’m about to go back and actually listen now
Hi Crimson, I purchased the Sony FX30 as my primary camera and the Sony ZV-E10 as my secondary camera yesterday. I'm new to photography and videography, although I have taken great pictures using SLR and early digital cameras in the past. I bought these cameras specifically for indoor and outdoor video blogging and interviews.
Please advise me on how to seamlessly combine videos and audio from both cameras (maybe I will only use audio from one camera, not from the other, but visuals from both cameras so I can later pick and choose) without any issues. Which software would be perfect for this task and user-friendly as well? I wish the software could stream these videos from both cameras to one platform, such as Adobe or Final Cut Pro. It would be great if the software allowed me to view the video images in two different windows but with a single audio track. This way, I can easily select and switch between the video visuals based on the conversation happening in front of the camera, either during or after the interview.
Thanks in advance!
The video is great, thanks for all the tips. I just disagree about the different qualities of the cameras, which In this video is noticeable.
Thanks for the explanation. I personally dislike watching a solo interview that cuts to the B cam showing the actor talking to the A cam. It's like you're in a conversation and the person ignores you and speaks directly to someone else. At least now I know why it's done. Still hate it, though.
The A camera shot looks almost too sharp and bokeh is distracting, light is nice though. B camera a bit fuzzy and lighting seems off? I definitely hate the cuts in the videos from one camera, second camera is a must, for now it’s an iphone ;)
hmmm so I cant use my IPhone 13PMax on a gimbal as the 2nd (B) camera eh?
Thank you for mentioning jump Cuts, I can't stand them unless it is well done. I'm trying to figure out if there is a device that I can switch manually with my own hand between cameras while I am filming
I love the B shot. What focal length was the B shot done at (and sensor size for reference). I am trying to get a sense of the amount of space required to pull this off.
i think im in love with ur video sittings and u have to show us how you film ur videos , a lot of respect to u man thnx for sharing
I've seen this technique rise in the last few years. I hate it, but I didn't know it was an editing aid. That doesn't make me like it, but at least now I understand why someone might use it. That's better than just seeing it as a trendy annoyance. I was kind of hoping it would do it's 15 minutes and leave.
Great video mate! This is a a really good way to go with the slider as the B shot just looks spot on with the curved effect on the shot. Another way I have done it a pretty crud way without the need for slider is shoot fairly wide on the B cam in 4K and then add a slight shot movement in post by cropping into the 4K shot and keyframing the clip position on each b roll clip used.
That works too! If you can get it in camera, it adds a little something :)
This guy looks amazing on camera ! Okay Silver Fox
this A shot is a freaking gorgeous shot haha!
?do you ride a Onewheel? they use that sound as a fully charged notification
Great video! thanks a lot crimson
wow! thought I was watching in IMAX!
Man, this is the exact information I was looking for to help me with a tricky 2 camera edit. Great video!
I have a canon RP as my A cam but I like to use my iPhone 11 as a B cam.
RoBeardium!
I was looking at Canon Cinema cameras for a while but didn't look into the C200 just the C100 DAF, C300 Mk1, C500 Mk1. Your videos have the best-presented visuals from the various videography channels, I'll read up on the C200 it looks like it produces the beautiful images I'm looking for.
HI, I like this video and I think it will be useful for many people. If you don't mind, i would like to share this video to
other website in China for the reason of
RUclips is blocked to watch directly in China. Of course, I will put the orginal link and I will translate to Chinese. Thank you very much!
Hey! I know that this is the most enjoying question but I got to say that this is one of the best graded talking heads I've seen in a while. I understand that C-log and lighting come to play but I just got to ask, are you using a specific LUT or are you planing on selling your own luts? great vid btw! :)
Thanks Leo! I wish the second camera was Raw as well and I could have matched them better. I do have LUTs for sale - I used the Aries for this one. Link is in the description!
Oh! Sry man! Missed it. So your pack works with Rec709? That’s great ✌️A shoot so many talking heads and I still stuggle with the Sony colors. The skintones are the worst. Canon is doing something right. Anyway, Thx for your reply. 👍
Your lighting is amazing
Pretty neat video !
Thank you so much for posting these videos! .. especially the C200 tutorials has been very handy... Keep up the good work..
Colour gradegasm
Lit beautifully, but the EOS R cuts in much better with the C200 IMHO
Great video Man! For many years I try to figure out your name at the beginning, but still no success...
Rubidium :) I'm on IMDB
you have soft nose tho :p
The video is great, thanks for all the tips. I just disagree about the different qualities of the cameras, which in this video is pretty noticeable.
oh my god!!! What a bad xc10 cam!!!
But how do you edit with the two cameras?
This video is noticeably crisper than the others. I’m not sure if it’s a greater amount of your head in focus from a smaller aperture or what but I can’t believe this is playing in 1080, looks like 4K!
Perfect! Answered every question I had. And ooohhh, the quality of this 👌🏽!!!
You look like cgi waaaw
how do you make the camera move?
Simple tips that were exactly what I was looking for! Liked and Subscribed!!
So when the second camera is not just poorer quality but a completely different brand with different dynamic range, should I use it or ditch it? The only way I can marry them up is to colour match and grade the crap out of them both and lose some of the great quality of the 1st camera. Am thinking jump cuts are a better option.
With your looks who cares, you'll look great no matter what . Great video my friend . Love your lighting ,the different tones ...
People r doing 4k these days but your 1080p color grading & lighting is so nice that you don't need a 4k to have an amazing experience.
How are you switching between cameras? Is it during post processing? Tutorial please. Love your video.
Lovely. I want to record an interview with two people (occasionally) three, but want to record the same audio to both cameras. How do I do that without spending a fortune? i was looking at using lapel mics but want the audio to be the same on both cameras. Is that possible?
Thanks in advance.
Why would you need to do that? For sync in post? I would suggest a better idea would be to send two mics L and R to cam 1 and mic 3 to cam 2.
@@LanzaroteShowcase simplify and make my post production simpler and faster by getting everything right in production. Seems that involves too many wires and gear and I am looking at a very simple solution probaly wireless. More wires more rik of people tripping. So far the solution that has been suggested is using wireless mics and having them on the same channels.
What editing software do you use to make sure both are lined up and using the correct sound? (Sound is the easy part) but I’m looking for a seamless editing platform where can I lay on and easily cut back and forth.
Thank you!
Great example but a shame the colors don't match on your cameras, the A is so much richer, it's a bit jarring.
I have the same issue with a nice 10-bit A cam and a lesser 8-bit B cam.
how often shall the visual cut from the A camera to the B camera? is there any advice on this, anyone?
I tend to do it to get around a cut.
Bravo, sir! May I ask if your slider motor is SILENT? I definitely didn’t hear it in this video but I assumed you were using a body mic. Essentially, if you’re a musician recording a piece with moments of complete silence, you think studio microphones would pick up the whir of the slider motor? Thanks so much!
It all depends on how fast you run it. At a slow crawl it essentially silent. At top speed it’s like a distant AC
great sound, crystal clear voice...would be great to have a video about your process :)
Is it good to have different brand camera for shooting with multiple camera ?
Awesome video Sir...Your cinematic sence is really good. 👍👍👍
Now I know why you shoot with a second camera and/or have b-roll to cut to. I thought you just cut it in whenever, but nope, there's a specific purpose.
Nicely effect but the extra gear, setup time, and a moving distraction to the interview subject...
Depends on the clients expectations. A lot of jobs except a 2 cam setup now
this is a very common and great interview setup, if you client looks at the slider.. just cut away! :)
Having two cameras framed to the same size of shot makes the edit a bit harsh and jumpy IMO. Surely better to have one on close up and the other on medium close up?
hi great vid. what full frame focal range would you suggest for a setup like this?
Love that grading
thank you sir , I need to know which the best zoom lens in low budget to shoot interview ??? one for the medium shot and the second for close up shot because I use two camera . And can I use two different cameras like canon 5d with 1300d.
Real nice shots, but it apperars that the audio is switching aswel as the camera's are...?
Hi, thanks for the videos, it has helped me a lot to understand how to make videos. I'm a hairdresser and I'm going to start recording video lessons, we'll use two DSLR canon SL2, one to film the whole complete space (me, the model and assistant) and for that purpose what canon lens tells me? the second camera will be used to film only the head of the model to better show how I am cutting the hair of the same, and for this camera what lens tells me? in short, a lens to film three people and another lens to just to film the model's head. It does not have to be lenses with good focus because the background of the scene is totally white. I need good, inexpensive lenses to film my course.
This is some awesome video, I shot interviews with 2 panasonics (MFT GH4 and the 1" sensor FZ1000) last monday but I notice now how hard it is to match both camera's, sound, colourtemperature and looks. I think actually that using 2 exactly the same camera's and lenses will make your life a lot easier in the editroom....
Within 1 minute I decided to like + subscribe! Thank you.
Rubidium... as in ----> 37Rb?
One and the Same 😎
nothing looks more stupid to me then this side shot of the presenter whitout eye contact
daddy
What is the auto slider equipment? Does it make noise?
Its this one: amzn.to/2EVnSjB - A little noise but nothing the mic 4 feet from camera will pick up.
Oh heeeeeyyyy 😍😍
Wonderful video. Thanks!
This looks like CGI - wtf? Who did you achieve this look?
Your camera A looks really sharp, how did you do that?
Can you just do the slide in an edit or does that look bad ? I don't have a slide track.
thanx for the imformative video! so THATS one of the major reasons for my most hated techniques? Hiding jump cuts??? I passionately hate 45 degree angle camera take on a narrator and had no good description of why before
nice video! I really like the XC10, I rented it for an event I shot last year and really enjoyed using it... people give it a really hard time here on RUclips reviews but it definitely has its uses.
Great tips. Thank you! Just wondering how you are able to look directly into the lens. We use our Magic Video Box, which is incredibly helpful for this way of shooting as instead of seeing the lens the talent sees the reflection of the interviewer so is able to have a natural conversation. The result is great content. I'd love to hear whay you think.
Hi. What about the transition effect between cam A and cam B? If I use no transition effects it seems sharp and jarring. I've been using cross dissolve between the two cameras. But it seems a little too fuzzy even when I shortened it to .5 seconds. Is there a transition between camera a and Camera be that you use? Most transitions i see don't seem to be as jarring as mine when I use no transition effects. thanks
just cut! the video this guy made looks good!
the bubbles around your head dont help to the composition but your exposure and color is better than ever, just to help
It looks like your are using the "PMG-DUO Motorized Double Sided Straight / Curved Video Slider w/ Carriage" or something similar. Does it only carry the weight of the XC10 (which I by the way also use as a B camera to my C200/C100 main cameras) or does it also support the C200? (which track length do you use)
Hey Christoph - its the PMG 32" curved track slider. I have the XC10 on it, but it holds up to 20 lbs. I've used the c200, the 24-70 lens and the 7" monitor on it and the motor moves it all just fine. bit.ly/2obn4xI
How beautifully lit are you?! Sheesh
That Canon EOS C200 main camera shot is awesome
The bokeh and lightening Setup is truly amazing.
