@Totally Not I shoot all the time just always looking to learn something new haha I totally believe that you can learn something from anyone's workflow. Even someone who just started can teach a pro something. There's 100s of ways to do the same thing in our industry
Your videos are insanely helpful to young filmmakers like me; they've been a huge part of my filmmaking journey for the last two years. Thank you for everything you do for us filmmakers and thank you for adjudicating my university's film festival. Twas an honor to have you.
This is amazing! I work at a nonprofit so we don't have the resources to hire freelance video editors, but using these techniques will be a game changer in our work!
editing dosen't mean adding lots of graphicm, transition, effect everything will be in balance or if needed to look better that's what i got to learn from you thankyou so much man love from india
The knowledge you delivered in those two videos is priceless man! Thats exactly what I needed, glad that I watched that before shooting my first ever two camera interview, I'll start editing tomorrow. Thanks!
Break out the mono works great! But I think I prefer to setup the audio channels in the clip settings first, so it's consistent throughout the project. Clip settings, audio channels , and force the mono tracks to be interpreted as mono since that's how they were actually recorded. Both methods work, but doing it at the clip level keeps sync on the clip and if you ever do an insert or a another pull your original clip audio is still linked correctly.
Wow!! Thank you so much! I just got a 2 camera camcorder and you just saved me so much time and grief I am sure!! Love all your helpful hints like the Adobe Podcast audio enhancer. Definitely going to use that one.
I really appreciate you for putting time into these videos and passing valuable info forward. As someone who is trying to to become a fulltime editor, your videos are extremely helpful and just straight up relaxing to watch. Great work and thanks!
A++ on the breakdown for this, and it shows that just little things and additions can really elevate an edit. Hopefully there are some similar settings in DaVinci Resolve that I can use. Really informative and inspiring!
I def learnt some new tips!! This was awesome .. watched your previous video on interviewing solo n came here right after . Awesome videos.. can't wait to use your tips!! 💯
I made the exact same video of my partner who is also an artist, except I filmed the footage instead of using stocks. The thing is she hates camera so had to do interview as voiceover...
a bit random but could you make a video about how you would colour grade movies shot on your phone to give a cinematic feel? Love the vids and they help a lot thanks!
Mind Blown! How am I gonna fit all that useful information in my head in 30 minutes! I need to fill in 3 years of watchin' other people's stuff for little tidbits! How dare you? LOL! Seriously, that and episode 1 were almost TOO USEFUL! - I'm a little perturbed that I actually learned something... Very annoying! 🙂 (I subscribed so hopefully I can find some really time-wasting sucky information [to make up for all this useful knowledge you forced down my throat!?])
Thank you for the video. Did you end up using the MKH-16 or the lav for your primary audio track? If the former, that enhanced sound feature(now in beta, but built into PP) sounds like an acoustic blanket(necessary for shotgun mics).
So when the two mult-cam files were created (MS1 and MC2) and you added them to the Sync sequence, you then worked on applying effects to one of them (MC1). Would you then have to copy and paste all effects/settings to MC2?
Thanks for the video very helpful! ... Beginner question, if you record the audio separately into Zoom recorder h6 or any other recorder what audio would you synch it to if you have multiple cameras (A or B cam) or is it the same?
From my experience, you synch to the cleanest audio you have. If you set up your shoot like Kent did in the other video for this interview, the footage from your cams should be about the same, settings-wise, with only the framing being different. In post, I would then synch up those two cams to the zoom audio.
@Standard Story Company you're not wrong haha I tried it on some reception speeches where my body didn't arm the field recorder so I had to use on camera audio. It didn't sound like my uncle talking because it manipulated so much to clean the sound. With audio, less is more
@@OaklynMediaLLC I've done this same thing. I actually took the audio that adobe audio enhance gave me and layered it with the audio out of the camera and it was so much more convincing. Wasn't perfect, but it was useable - which is all I can ask for in that situation.
My goodness you are amazing, every time I visit this video, a new problem is solved. This video is reusable like a nalgene. 26k views!? RUclips needs to get their priorities straight. Ill get back to work now, cheers
I have a quick question for ya, but it doesn’t really apply to this video. I’ve heard directors aren’t supposed to suggest how an actor should act. But at the same time, you’re supposed to direct their performance. So where’s the line? Where do you draw the line when you want an actor to give a line in a certain way but you’re not getting exactly what you want from them? Thanks 🙏🏻 🙏🏻 🙏🏻
Why shoot 2 cameras on nearly the same angle, just one tighter and one wider? Why not just cut the wider angle take and set a zoom effect to selectively cut to a closer shot when needed? If you're going to use 2 cameras, why not shoot shots from obviously different angles? Just wondering?
This guy just picked his music in about 3 seconds instead of spending 3 days scrolling through and then going back to the first ‘maybe’ track that he flagged.
Me watching a video on this when I have a 2 camera shoot in 30 mins
Good luck! You got this ^v^
@Totally Not I shoot all the time just always looking to learn something new haha I totally believe that you can learn something from anyone's workflow. Even someone who just started can teach a pro something. There's 100s of ways to do the same thing in our industry
-1 min for this comment 😆
Is this a 3rd person perspective of oneself watching a video, when planning about making a video?
How did you go?!
Your videos are insanely helpful to young filmmakers like me; they've been a huge part of my filmmaking journey for the last two years. Thank you for everything you do for us filmmakers and thank you for adjudicating my university's film festival. Twas an honor to have you.
The cleaning up the audio part with Premiere Pro was a game changer, you saved my edit with that tip!
Thank you so much!
I know you have a course. I need it. You're easy to listen to and you don't rush when you edit. You make it easy to follow behind you!
Woooowwww, 4 minutes in and I already feel like the biggest idiot for how I've been editing my multi-cam sequences for 5 years.. Thank you for this
This is amazing! I work at a nonprofit so we don't have the resources to hire freelance video editors, but using these techniques will be a game changer in our work!

I did the multi-camera sequence thing for editing a concert and it worked quite well
I just finished editing my first 2 cam sequence because of your video! Thank you so much!

This is an amazing insider look for any editor looking to up their skills.

This was MASTERFUL. Excellent work sir.
yo kent, have been watching your videos since some time, and can't tell you how useful your content has been... keep up the good work, man.

Shallow DOF is even easier and more precise in Davinci. Use Depth map + lens blur.
Syncing clips, fixing audio is also rather straightforward.
Thanks for the Adobe Podcast tip, very easy to use!
What's the full price after the free trial?
The cleaning up audio is clutch. Appreciate you boss!
I def learnt some new tips!! This was awesome .. watched your previous video on interviewing solo n came here right after . Awesome videos.. can't wait to use your tips!! 💯
This video is a masterclass - outstanding work, thank you.

Adobe Podcast?? That's some crazy sorcery right there! Thanks for sharing...I honestly had no idea.

Nice job with the graphics that you did for that video Good job 😎👍
I made the exact same video of my partner who is also an artist, except I filmed the footage instead of using stocks. The thing is she hates camera so had to do interview as voiceover...
That audio fix is brilliant!
Right?! It’s an amazing tool
the video was really interesting. You should make more video editing tutorials.🔥
Wow. This is amazing work.
Great how to, good sir. Thank you.
Excellent Tips! Thank You !

I love your videos man ❤️😂
Thank you for your tips.
It helps
Holly guacamole!!! Thank you.
How did you cut the video around 11:23? I keep hitting the cut command and it removes the entire sequence...help please lol

Amazing ❤
Golden 🔥 Thank you!
Awesome, how can we watch the finished product?

Love seeing how you breakdown your edits. What shortcut were you using at 21:49 to select the tracks?
I customized my premiere shortcuts so I can hit 1, 2, 3 etc to select/deselect each video track
what command or short cut does he press to cut to camera two at the 11:50 mark?
Great content!!
What shortcut did you use at 21:53 to select track 3&4?
Awesome.
For the title animation at 20:40, how did you remove the background in After Effects in order to overlay it on the footage?
Thanks for the video very helpful! ... Beginner question, if you record the audio separately into Zoom recorder h6 or any other recorder what audio would you synch it to if you have multiple cameras (A or B cam) or is it the same?

22:39 I've heard this new tool makes people sound different than they actually sound. Makes their voices not sound like their own from time to time.
I’ve had nothing but excellent results so far. I’m sure the better the source recording the better the results.
@Standard Story Company you're not wrong haha I tried it on some reception speeches where my body didn't arm the field recorder so I had to use on camera audio. It didn't sound like my uncle talking because it manipulated so much to clean the sound. With audio, less is more

@Bernardo Villalpando I was just happy I wasn't the audio guy that day haha

Você tem um curso?
When are you making another feature film man
Is there a reason you choose to do "Breakout to Mono" instead of choosing the fill channel effect?
No both methods work
Was this footage straight out of camera with "natural" picture profile or you did some color correction?
I've watched this and its companion video two dozen times, so I feel like ought to say something....
How do you like the gh6 u used for this?
Do you use the quicktime gamma shift lut on export ?

It's like 100 years of study 😮
iMovie tutorial please??
Now it's a tutorial web series
First thought: is she talking to the plant? :)
Was it a real interview, or a fake one just for the channel? If a real one then can we see it somewhere?
Nice
What mac are you using for this?
A base M1 Pro MacBook Pro
20:27 Miami Mami 😭
+1 subscriber
This was great. Do more of these, lol
would you ever consider reviewing short films from fans trying to get better at it?
Why shoot 2 cameras on nearly the same angle, just one tighter and one wider? Why not just cut the wider angle take and set a zoom effect to selectively cut to a closer shot when needed? If you're going to use 2 cameras, why not shoot shots from obviously different angles? Just wondering?

Mine didnt sync its so frustrating
This video almost made me throw up with all the time I've wasted over the years not knowing this.
First!
🍪
Dude why do you sound just like Pecos Hank?
You're Good. Lol
All great, but the plant on the foreground.
I was with you until the vignette.
Incredible Video! I edit full time and a few of this tricks you showed kind of blew my mind. Especially the adobe audio thing.
