  • The D Major Sonata from Bréval's Op. 40 set, c. 1795.
    I. Allegro
    II. Rondo (4:19)
To end this exciting series, I'd like to present the very energetic D Major sonata. This piece has an Allegro and Rondo, and both movements give the cellists an opportunity to work on fast left hand passagework within the D Major and A Major key areas. The Allegro features triplet-duple juxtaposition which will allow the cellist to work on rhythm and the detaché bowing technique. The second movement Rondo is incredibly fun to play, with a surprisingly singing d minor section to contrast the exuberant D Major Rondo theme. I highly recommend this piece for any recital!
We are playing off of an urtext edition, Edition Güntersberg, with bowings edited.
