For the fifth summer, Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute (WMI) has brought together the brightest young players from across the country to form the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America (NYO-USA). Following a comprehensive audition process and a three-week training residency with leading professional orchestra musicians, these remarkable teenagers embark on a tour to some of the great music capitals of the world to serve as dynamic music ambassadors. In 2017, the orchestra traveled to Latin America with conductor Marin Alsop and performed a program that included a new Carnegie Hall-commissioned work by Gabriela Lena Frank and Mahler’s Symphony No. 1. In 2018, NYO-USA will return to Asia for a tour with conductor Michael Tilson Thomas and pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet. Nacido en México, Arturo Márquez estudió en CalArts en Valencia (CA) y privadamente en París. Se ha inspirado en la música autóctona y es más conocido por una serie de sinuosos y evocadores danzones, una danza de origen cubano que es muy popular en México, particularmente en la región de Veracruz. La conga es un baile de carnaval cubano, del cual deriva la línea de conga, popularizada en Estados Unidos por líderes de bandas como Xavier Cugat. Por su parte, la ceremonia del "Fuego Nuevo" era un ritual mexicano precolombino. La Conga del Fuego Nuevo de Márquez nos brinda un espectáculo rítmicamente lúdico, pero sin embargo bien conectado con los imperativos del baile de línea de staccato. En esta oportunidad, La Conga del Fuego Nuevo es interpretada por la Orquesta Nacional Juvenil de los Estados Unidos de América (NYO-USA), bajo la batuta de Marin Alsop, en una presentación efectuada en el célebre auditorio Carnegie Hall.

@@gracehiggins2666 nah , he just rolled the pistons to prepare. And dalor thought that the guy actually playing was him....he didnt notice this one was another trumpet haha
