This is soooo much better than a concert. I’d buy a ticket to every rehearsal!
You actually can at many orchestras, I watched San Francisco symphony rehearse Beethoven 9 it was awesomeeeee
I agree !! I love the creative process… to be able to see what goes into building a beautiful final performance is really amazing !!! I love hearing him talk through it. Dudamel is brilliant!
This is great! Please post more excerpts from the orchestra rehearsals. Fascinating to see and hear the process. And it was great to see that even the Maestro makes a mistake when he cued (and he acknowledged the mistake in the rehearsal) the trombone gliss early. This is not a criticism at all; he is human like the rest of us. Please post more. I am a HUGE Dudamel fan!
Agreed, seeing the process is so enlightening!
Agreed Maestro Tipton!
Yes! Excellent to see his interaction language & expression with them!
He was in Houston, and I live in Houston 39years
Me, too! I love the rehearsals. I love to watch Dudamel rehearse.
It is such a pleasure to see how much joy Dudamel displays while experiencing the music. And the music itself, so moving!
It's also very childish.

@@nonenoneonenonenone the irony here is that you are the one that needs to grow up.
@@nonenoneonenonenone so being passinate about their professions makes it childish? Thanks for the info
Who says music needs to be taken so seriously all the time? It's honestly really refreshing to see and feel a youthful energy.@@nonenoneonenonenone
A superhuman conductor with one of the greatest orchestras on the planet. What's not to love here?
That is not superhuman. You just want him to be….some psychological need.
A completely anachronic view of conductors. 90% of them nowadays are mediocre cheaters. Dudamel is not, of course, but SUPERHUMAN….?
🤔
One of the greatest orchestras in the world? Show me your cabinet full of participation trophies.
It's the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra. Yes, one of the greatest orchestras in the world. @@wwbdwwbd
nope. visit the past and become wiser.
1:35 trombone FUAAAAWWONN... Conductor says Less Forte!
5:20 trombone BRAVO! Just, BRAVO!
How can you not love this guy?
🤔
Seeing Dudamel has aged so much since the last time I've seen him but his energy and enthusiasm is still there 😢
Honestly The Firebird suite is so magical in how it can summon every drop of energy from the musicians
"Grazioso! GRAZIOSO!!!" Love it!
Gustavo is the best.
Wow a real personality. Classical music needs people like this.
We need to keep this art alive for the next generation and this guy will hopefully be helping. Bravo!
Que hombre maravilloso!
Genio!!❤🇻🇪
Omg I love how giddy he is, the orchestras must love this brand of enthusiasm from a conductor!
To use a sports analogy, the conductor is like the “head coach” of the orchestra. He may not be doing the actual playing but he has an enormous impact on the outcome of the game (concert).
The musicians have to do their best to play with everything they’ve got, but they are playing to the conductor’s will and interpretation - that decides so much in the end
We had Karajan, we had sleepy feet. Dudamel is crazy, but Dudamel is music in the flesh. This conductor cannot be anything other than what he is. And when he conducts a polyrhythm it tears him into a thousand pieces. Then it flows together again and continues with a largo. Then he goes for a beer and is happy! That is music. Warm greetings from Austria, the land of Mozart and not Australia, the land of hopping kangaroos.
Wow! The man who really loves music. Emotioman
He was only 26 when he became the LA Phil Director. It has been a tremendous honor and pleasure to see the work and ground breaking programs he's brought to LA. NY Phil is very fortunate and he will be hard to replace.
What an engaging and dynamic maestro. I can only imagine how much his orchestra enjoys working with him.
it makes me miss orchestral rehearsals. Granted, I was never in a professional orchestra, but this is how they all go. Technical rehearsals, conductor stories, the whole bit.
It's a poem the master Dudamel, "excelsior" is the Word come my brain when listening his music
Dudamel is still the most charismatic and to watch him in a rehearsal is more fascinating than in a concert 🎵 preparing Beethoven or Stravinsky he’s Amazing even with such gray hairs ⭐️
This is the best content! These rehearsal excerpts are always engaging to watch and bring so much insight to the music.
Please do more rehearsal videos! Really insightful and fun
So talented over the years, a proud Venezuelan🇻🇪 to see conducting an orchestra 👏
We've been so lucky he's been in LA. 🌹
How can I put this … during my Piano tuning days at Concert halls I always stayed on for rehearsals which I enjoyed as much as the compleat concert on the night, if not more !
OLA! I have seen many conductors in rehearses, this is one of the best regarding giving inspirasion with a smile. Not many did and does that….for orchestra it must be like beeing in the sun..
It's wonderful to hear the difference he made in just one small section. Conductors really shape how their interpretations sound!
Such an outrageously good piece of music. I saw the firebird sweet live at the proms and it was one of my favourite ever musical experiences
That would be "suite" (like a great penthouse hotel accommodation) 🎵
This is awesome. As someone who has sung with symphony orchestras, the public rarely gets to see what a rehearsal is like. Thanks for sharing this. Dudamel is so dynamic. What a complete thrill it would be to be on stage with him.
You can hear the section learning what he wants. No reacting to each phrase, but everything in a smooth arc. OUTSTANDING 🏆🏆🏆🏆♥️
Even Dudamel is human! The apology after the mis-cue... great to see. This is why I love rehearsal footage
BRAVO! 💓👏👏👏🎶🎶
he is so wholesome 😭
majestuoso sos Gustavo.
I love how his nose isn't stuck in the score and his conducting is both fun to watch and easy to follow
Pure genius. What a joy to watch!
The beautifully coordinated orchestra giving us chaos! Wow 😮. What power.
Incredible clarity from the LA Phil!
Wonderful to see the rehearsal process. Would love to see this more often.
I love this man❤
A big pleasure to watch Maestro at work! Bravo!
How lucky is the LA Philharmonic orchestra to have this energetic young Maestro at the helm
How odd is it to call 42 year old "young". People seem to be convinced that conductors have an average age of 85.
Because it is young. It takes maturity to be a great conductor, without any exceptions! @@Quotenwagnerianer
It is not young and maturity has nothing to do with age.@@nonenoneonenonenone
@@Quotenwagnerianer Age is just a number ❤ let us age well 😊
@@QuotenwagnerianerI mean, he’s the youngest 42 year old I’ve ever seen
This video is so gorgeous! I understand nothing about philarmonic and that orchestra's world, but Mr. Dudamel souns me like a magician, a wizard of the baton. His work is fun at the same time his aura is so strong and impressive. Thank you for post this video. I would like to see more rehearsal videos. At last, I'm Brazilian, so proud about the fact by Mr. Dudamel is latin american, from Venezuela.
Oooooooo, maravilloso!
What an absolute joy to watch! I would love to be a performer under the exceptional baton of Dudamel!
What a joyous and beautiful attitude!
Dudamel- Super.
This man is pure magic. He’s my biggest favorite! ❤️
his way of expressing the music is so good, he does it with such passion.
I LOVE it! LA is so lucky to have him.
Que genial Gustavo❤
He's so much fun to watch
So great! Maestro tries to get the best performance out of all in a respectful and cordial way. Master musician and conductor.
So much fun watching Dudamel work his rehearsal magic!
Just watching Dudamel, I don't need the score; I can see how every part comes together, and I can very clearly get my cues! A good conductor precludes the musician's need for written music
Brass at 1:24 HOLY MOTHER what do they FEED THEM 🔥🔥
Madre del amor hermoso !! 😍
Ver esto es " ESPECTACULAR TOTAL !
AMO ESTE HOMBRE ! ❤
Friendly, positive, creative, motivating, passionate - simply professional. Senior Dudamel is an amazing condcutor!
Rehearsals show so much more. I love the way he pulled down the trombone with his arm.
Excelente Gustavo! Excepcional as always!
I just looooove him! He’s so inspiring. ❤
It is an honor to see the master at work, so much talent in one room. Thank you!
This is how I would imagine Beethoven reading this music today ("This music is so crazy, but it 😊 is normal ... " i.e., Beethoven would like it).
That’s a great point!
Wonderful insight into his process at 2:58 seems to really bring it back to some of the excitement and his roots helping to bring back excitement for music into the symphony Orchestra
Never saw him before; amazing conductor and interpreter of Stravinsky!
Eight minutes of beautifully organized chaos. Love it Love it Love it !!! 🎶🎵
Dudamel is my favourite conductor, and this was an absolute treat. Subbed and hoping for more of these.
Bravo, Maestro! So delightful. He captures the fun and the dance in the music and great joy wells up in the orchestra
this brings smile on my face
Stunning, makes me tremble to see such talent and devotion to craft working in concert with one another under the guidance of Dudamel, powerful stuff.
I love you, Gustavo. Your rehearsals are the best. No doubt about it.
What a pleasure to watch this! .
Gustavol has a great personality, & must be lots of fun to work with him.....
Love The Firebird!! ....
Great orchestra....
Thanks for posting this.
🙏😄
Mesmerized by Dudamel and the LA Philharmonic! I love all the rehearsal videos. Can we get more camera time for the phenomenal musicians though? Their skill is captivating!
I could watch Dudamel all day. He is so incredibly inspiring and I love how he can bring even professionals who have become cynical to reconnect with the vitality of music.
i hope you're wrong about the musicians:-)
Simply, WONDERFUL!!!
Please please please more of this amazing und unbelievable music gift
I want to hear Berceuse! please! very interesting watching the process--I've never seen him in a rehearsal setting before. Very cool--thank you.
AWSOME!! 🤩😎🤘
Astounishing
Brings me back to college when I played in the symphony.
Oh man, this is so inspirational.... It must be so much fun to be able to play like that in such a wonderful orchestra with such an inspirational conductor and nothing but masters of musicians all around you.
It looks like very much fun, and it possibly is, but this is a hell of a piece to play! Upmost respect for everybody in this video!
I love how Dudamel gives a thumbs up every time a section nails a passage, like the Trombone glisando's!
This was such an enjoyable video to watch and listen! More of this please!
Buenísimo! Un saludo para el maestro Dudamel. Por favor!
Oh my goodness I could watch this all day! Such a pleasure to see and hear the Maestro in rehearsal. Love his kindness and obvious joy! I'm so happy to know this is his personality. Please post more!! ❤
more please!!
Great rehearsal. Bravo Maestro
He is so great! He makes music so enjoyable and fun. In Javanese music is 音楽, which mean "sound" "fun"
God gifted this man w musical genius ❤
Bravo!
I love how it sounds, its kind of to be watching a tom & jerry episode, i can picturing n everything
Dang! I am so sad he is going. I am thankful for the time here in LA but man….he will be missed.
After Salonen, he was five steps down. Even though the LA phil ain't world-class, they deserve better.
it's ok to like a celebrity. d is a celebrity-conductor by profession. it's ok when people like that. but I know what you mean. i also know how their management choses conductors, so no they didnt deserve better@@Pogouldangeliwitz
I was entranced - this 8 minute video flew by - what a treat!!!
