great engineering and computer technology along with thousands of hours of preflight simulation happen before one of theses babies gets off a runway.

Because there is no interior installed in the test article. Sunlight will breakdown the carbon fiber from the inside out. The windows are designed to filter UV but, at that time we were taking no chances. We have since removed the window coverings.

So, does the companies have to wait the 3 years before they can use it? Or is this test still going on even with the first flights.

How could anyone design such a test like this, specially the fractal-like arrangement for the testing of the wing bending, it seems just awesome to me...

Pilots! They do everything. These boys take the credit for me, the designers, not the drivers and im an aircraft engineer. Though i do sometimes wish i could meet an airbus/ boeing designer.....id beat them!

No, once the Fatigue Test A/P has approx 10,000-12,000 cycles, which is required by the FAA, it's good to go into service. Boeing puts the balance of three lifetimes on the A/P for their own data. In any case, we stay well ahead of any in service airplanes to find potential problems here and implement any changes fleetwide.

Aluminum will oxidize in salty conditions as did the aircraft in Hawaii in which the cabin parted and one stwartess was lost.

The reason Boeing has had more "Inceadents" is because they have been around longer. They are one of if not the oldest manufacturer in the world, with many successful models, i.e. 737, 747, 777, etc. And 7,100 737s have been build as of April 2012.

mh370 had instructions put into the autopilot at 1.20 am telling the plane to descend and the pilots were unaware of this the plane was flying normally down onto the sea it was dark . there was no chance to call mayday the terrorist who sent the instructions is a captain pilot and he leaves NO EVIDENCE .

plane makers must make autopilots secure from terrorists. pilots must be in complete control of the plane .at present the terrorist can set the autopilot to land any where.he can do this before he leaves the plane into the memory unit of the autopilot which will carry out the instructions and in some cases they cannot be changed its disasteruos
