Thank you doctor for something so well explained. After my CABG surgery back in 2001 the doctor had me on both Metoprolol and Perindopril at the same time, I had no energy and was so depressed I thought I was about to die. Luckily another doctor picked upon the clues and stopped the Beta Blockers, pretty much instant recovery to my old self, never looked back.
Excellent, very useful and brilliant graphics. I wonder have you done a video done on the side effects of post heart attack and stent Meds, that lead to tinnitus, and the alternative meds . Following another you tube series on preparing students for nursing exams, i see one of the areas covered was potential side effects of aspirin and lo n behold the answer recommended was tinnitus!! This is a brilliant channel. Other areas of interest (for me☺️) would be after say, 3 months to whatever time!, the level of exercise one should do to maintain a healthy heart, i mean what percentage of max heart rate should be considered enough.. in the old days when young n fit, it was 80% of ( 220 minus ones age) My cardiologist says stay away from anaerobic work in first three months .and they don't recommend weights or strenuous exercise there after. Well, thanks for another great video.
Great video Dr. I’m on Beta Blockers at 48y after discovery of a larger Myocardial Bridge causing significant Angina. Wondering if you could do a video about Myocardial Bridges but specifically those that and why they cause issues. Some great research papers coming from Stanford and Cleveland regarding testing and the success of unroofing surgery. Seems that some Cardiologists believe these are rather benign and dismiss a bridge causing issues, whilst others acknowledge in some patients they do cause issues which need to be addressed. What are your thoughts? Have you seen many issues from bridges yourself? Are there any specialists/experts regarding bridges and unroofing in Sydney I should be talking to that perform the right tests and procedures? The last few months have been pretty debilitating, hoping the Beta Blockers reverse my rapid decline.
Thank you so much for this very helpful and useful information. I am currently monitoring my BP as I may need to lower it. The information on side effects was particularly useful as I have long covid and I am permanently tired and exhausted as it is, I definitely don't want to feel worse.
I have read that these medications can be used for anxiety. I have normal BP but high pulse rate. Any thoughts about using this medication for situations like mine?
Hi Doctor, thank you for your channel and for demystifying heart medications. I would like to hear an explanation for multi compound antihypertensive drugs such as Twynsta in a future episode.Best regards.
A couple days into a Metropolol perscription and I worked out on it for the first time. Man, I couldn't tell if I was tired or not. Felt like I could just kep going and going. Weird.
Very interesting. Our GP. or surgeon does not explain all these information. It is really very informative & excellent. Please continue the good work I have been taking ATENOL (50 mg ) for the last 40 yrs & has suited me well.I do not know why are they giving LOSARTAN(50mg) along wit ATENOL There was an article about Losartan being withdrawn but my GP ask me to continue. Can you please throw some more light on Losartan
I believe there was a voluntary recall by the producer, not because of issues with the active drug itself but because there were concerns of impurities within the medicine and potential link with cancer. There are several preparations that can be alternatives but within the same family that your doctor will be best to advise on.
Hi thank you, two important questions: 1) where does the adrenaline and epinephrine go when blocked does it go somewhere else in the body or does it get flushed out? 2) is there any medications that can treat the issue of excessive adrenaline and epinephrine production at the adrenal level lowering it? Thank you very much
I.ve been put on beta blockers bisoprolol 1.25 for ischaemia heart disease and small blood vessels disease and unstable blood pressure and unstable heart rate my blood pressure is high and six hours later it's low
Thank you, usually metoprolol is a medicine that is prescribed twice daily, usually morning and evening. Please do check with your own physician about what is the best for you.
Are selective beta1 blockers ( Kerlone ) supposed to help with physical anxiety aka tremors ? I know that non-selective such as Propranolol does wonders.
these medicines can be used at younger ages for many conditions, always check with your health care professional and thanks for supporting the channel!
I was placed on Atenolol aged 52 thirteen years ago by a GP referral and the first medication he suggested was 50mg Atenolol once daily. Now it's been 13 years of living hell on this garbage until 2 months ago when another GP tapered me off over 2 weeks. I feel TOTALLY normal again! Damn QUACKS!!!! @@HeartMatters
Is it normal to have sexual side effects from beta blockers. Since starting these I get aroused quicker and my ejactulations are much stronger. Just wondering if other men have experienced this?
excellent video, I appreciate how you explain everything so clearly, thank you

Hello, When is the best time of the day to take beta blocker (metoprolol) for lowering heartrate? First thing in the morning, mid-day, or before bed?
Thank you, usually metoprolol is a medicine that is prescribed twice daily, usually morning and evening. Please do check with your own physician about what is the best for you.

I know that non-selective such as Propranolol does wonders.
they may have a benefit but not like the standard beta blockers like propranolol that are usually more effective.
