Been watching your very informative videos. I recently suffered an unexpected heart attack whilst playing golf. I am a retired 55 year old firefighter. I had a Severe 95-99% Stenosis of LAD. Stent now fitted. I also have a calcified moderate stenosis lower down at bifurcation- to be managed my medication. Greatful to have a second chance and to the magnificent care I recieved from Scottish NHS ❤
Thanks Pete, based in the UK. Had a stent put in 6 weeks ago. Your videos above any have really helped me through and I thank you so much and will continue watching within interest
I'm in the UK, Had a heart attack in 2018 everything happened so quickly, had a stent fitted, and didn't know much about it I know it saved my life, thanks for the info so much.
absolutely fantastic peter ,im just starting my rehab after a stent has been put in ,ive watched everything about stents on your channel and has helped me understand a great deal of what lies ahead , thanks to people like yourself , thousands of patients can live life to the fullest
Thank you so much your information is always on point and very understanding. I had a stent 13 months ago 1 stent in the main arterie 80% blockage. 6 weeks later light jogging, light weight training, alot of walking. and a change up on my diet. Every now and then I feel a little discomfort near my left under arm but it passes by quickly. But I feel great and doing much better. Taking my Meds and visiting my Cardiovascular doctor.sorry for the long comment. Thank you!
Thank you for sharing such great information through your videos. I have 7 stents and really never knew much about them until watching your videos…also great that you reminded us of others in the background that never really get thanked enough…it takes a Village!
Thank you Peter, I've just come across your channel & I'm ecstatic I started with The Stent video and I'm binge watching, YOU have such an amazing way of explaining everything as in not just the STENT procedure but the reasons why we should take certain medications, I constantly hear people say DOCTORS are pushing MEDs & getting kickbacks from Pharmacists ect. Yes I know there are some COWBOY DOCTORS out there but Im sure they are not the norm ( I hope) Listening to everything you say gives me a more understanding to the reasons WHY WE MUST take some MEDS to care and maintain OUR STENTS. My hubby (Peter) lol 73 in April had a stent 9 years ago this January & I myself 65 3.5 years ago & one Stent Each (Sharing is caring) Hubby was diagnosed T2D 5/6 months ago so I instantly took charge and WE did & do the Mediterranean diet WE have BOTH lost over 10kg exercises most days but active every day both none smokers & we are barely drinkers at all (special occasions mostly) OFF SUGAR -CARBS as much as possible SUGAR IS THE KILLER & HIGH SATURATED FATS so now its Monkfruit & top notch GREAT OILS, OIVE OIL AVOCADO OIL ECT, we are doing very well BUT... because of all the chatter around RUclips ect that you can REVERSE T2D & STOP MEDS for everything, we are or should I say NOW I was confused whether we could stop our meds altogether, (before our HEART ATTACKS neither of us ever took any meds except Aspirin for desperate management of a headache ) so we were devastated when we had to take medication, I'm taking 2 in morning & 1 1/4 at night hubby's one at night & 1 in morning, so what this has boiled down to for me is that we are going to continue OUR MEDS to MAINTAIN OUR STENTS. THANK YOU!! You have put my mind at ease & I have more understanding & faith in the medical system. THANK YOU SO MUCH, really do appreciate your amazing understanding videos, NOW back to binge watching & yes I'm definitely a SUBSCRIBER!!!! US Aussies must stick together lol HAPPY NEW YEAR PETE
October 2023 I had a triple A that had burst. Now facing an angiogram this morning. Not going to lie I'm very nervous however watching your videos has given me peace of mind in knowing what the procedure endure. Thank you
Dr. can you pls. explain another heart procedure the bulb replacemnt. Thank you so much for your clear information hope there are more doctors like you👍
Whenever you get a chance Dr Barlis, perhaps you might explain whilst my angiogram was in progress, not sure if it was when they were checking inside of LAD with camera, but my right leg started kicking as in reflex action, was scary at the time but i concentrated hard on a good place i walk to take my mind off the process, i really felt i wanted to jump off the table!!! Great informative videos. Thanks as always for taking time to share your expertise and experience.
I have had 5 stents 2 in 2011 and 3 in 2013 since then I have had no other problems and I just live my life keeping active without any excessive exercise I am now 80 years old the only problem I have recently is my heart beat is very slow between 35 and 40 beats a minute but still feel well
at the outset I thank you sir for the very clear information, I am from India,I'm implanted two stents on 3rd november your information cleared many of my doubts, especially I have been told by my,interventional cardiologist, that, plaque, formed inside the artery and needs to be scrapped, I that was a lie but now the doubt is cleared.; do statin effect kidney,if used for Long period?.
I am type 2 diabetes for 30 years and have a coronary anomaly, and one of my coronary arteries is not contracting properly, possibly due to a blockage. I have never smoked and binge drink every few months. If I need a stent, will it have an effect on my blood pressure? I am worried and praying.
Thanks again for all experiences shared. What would be you recommendation for stent 2 years ago, at 50 yo. , and LPa of 80 mg…. Slim, fit, exercising, no alcohol, no smoke. Thanks!
Thank you so much for all the videos. It's very enlightening. I hope you can asnwer my question, I had an angioplasty and stent a week ago. Is it normal to feel a slight chest pain around the left side of my chest. Also, whenever I take the blood thinner, aspirin and statin I feel like a needle pinching sensation in my chest for a short while then gone. Thanks in advance for answering.
I just had a stent put in as a substitute to bypass. My main left artery was 100% blocked and my right artery had made some inroads into that area to keep it alive. I thought that it took about one hour to place a stent. My procedure took almost 4 hours and required a 40mm stent. What could the surgeon be doing for a full 4 hours??
I had chest/arm/jaw pain 12 months ago,had various tests from e.c.g, ultrasound to an angiogram with dye inserted, found 1 artery 100% blocked and 2 others 20 + 30% blocked, consultant decided that aggressive medication was the way forward, aspirin, ramapril, statins meds,i asked why no stent can be fitted to 100% blocked artery he said its too late to insert anything into artery as its blocked,my brother had a heart attack and was fitted with a stent 15yrs ago and has no issues since,im worried that my cardiologist isnt diagnosising me correct, ive not had an heart attack.😢
Always need to consider the choice of stent versus the role for bypass surgery too. There are several factors that make stenting more appropriate in treating multiple blockages and then bypass surgery a better option. We always assess the angiogram to determine in which locations the blockages are and also several patient factors, particularly the presence of diabetes.
What are the chances of me having another heart attack and I am still smoking it's hard for me to quit so what can I do to prevent another heart attack I would really appreciate your assistance on that
I wish you can provide us with The vitamins and food that contains minerals like K-2 and vitamins D E multivitamins and what vigitables that can interact with Plavix blood thinners . Statin is a problem with muscle pain and blood thinners also cause muscle pain . So how can we monitor blood ld ldl and cholesterol is needed so is cholesterol of 150 is ok and ldl 88 sugar 90 Utica acid 6 or below . Please advise k-2 to take with blood thinners and what other minerals and vitamins we can take
Blood pressure can become what we call labile, that is, becomes a little unsteady and this can be worsened when there is a blockage of the heart arteries. This can improve blood pressure control after treatment so wishing you the very best!
I am91 years old I had my fist stent in 2010 I was told if I obeyed the instructions I would have 4 years my I had another 2 years on the last 4th a double in main arteries in 20,18 so I have 4 stents in the last took away all angina
Thank you Doreen and thanks for watching! Great to hear your experience, there is no lifespan on stents, once placed, they become integrated within the artery. Thanks for supporting the channel.
