How beautiful! The colors are exquisite!! The white really brings out the colors!!
Nice character in this, kind of reminded me of ocean waves in places & space in others! It is nice to see the effects of the inks more prominently, while the glitter is there in the background playing its part but not overwhelming the whole thing. My mind is blown by all of the possibilities with this craft! Thank You for sharing. Really Beautiful!
This is one of the most satisfying things I've ever seen. And I appreciate you not using background music. Real-time is more relaxing.
I agree!!
Wow the colours of the glitter really came out when it was out of focus. So beautiful!
This cups is totally amazing I just started doing tumblers for my business. I just did my 1st alcohol ink one. Didn't even think of doing glitter then alcohol ink
At first I thought the thumbnail was a galaxy dragon, and I was in awe. I wish I seen this sooner, it's been in my "water later" list forever haha. Very beautiful work, amazing job.
I love using alcohol ink!! I use the heat gun and love watching the colors spread. This is just beautiful
🥰🥰
I love the purple that’s forming
I love this! Thank you for the solution to brightening up my dark base swirls.
I love those colors together 😍🤭
Beautiful! Those inks have a mind of their own. But with the black glittered background the colors are outstanding. TU for the tutorial!
You’re welcome! I’m glad you enjoy them! 🥰
To make sure I have this correctly, did you spray paint the tumbler with black...then put epoxy and the glitter for the base?
BEAUTIFUL video. Thank you for sharing 😊
What do you have wrapped around the pool noodle to keep the tumbler from slipping off ?
Girl u brave going back in I wouldn't do it. I seem to massively mess things up when I try to go in and make adjustments.
Hi, did you sand the tumbler after the glitter and epoxy?
That base coat, after you applied that epoxy, so glossy, dark, but galaxy. I am wondering how to do that to my car richt now, thats amazing and mesmerizing 😯😍
I enjoyed this video thx for sharing this tutorial 😊
It is beautiful!
Hello love these. I would like to make my own for family members. Can u PLEASE tell me Where is the least expensive place to get the cups and glitter and glue? THANK U IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP!!!❤️🦋
Could we safely use this to pour a candle in?
I am new to this. I made a coffee swirl. . Turned out good. . Lots of bubbles. . What's the best way to get rid of them?. . And daughter wants a mug with pink swirls and I want to add either glitter or mica. Do you have any ideas or videos ? TIA
A lot of epoxy likes a warm working environment. So a small heater close by on cold days could help. Also use a shop light nearby for heat. Here’s a video where is swirled glitter that might be helpful: Holographic glitter swirl epoxied tumbler tutorial
ruclips.net/video/v1l9CdItueY/видео.html ☺️
How safe is the epoxy when drink from cup?
Have you tried a tape line to delineate the sections? Or is it more about a gradual transition?
What tumbler turner do you use. I want to get started trying to do tumblers for family.
This is one I built when I started tumblers. I have a couple that I like but use this o e the most often. I uploaded a video recently of a new one. I like it and have used it several times since I got it. There’s a link to get a coupon code in the description. 🙂
@@ThePurpleStitch thank you. Love watching your videos.
My cup turner arm doesn’t unscrew so that sucks but I love how yours turned out 🥰🥰🥰
Its really pretty. I was just about to ask what you had pushed down around the noodle
That's i want to know as well....
Where do you buy your spinner from? I'm looking for one that you can remove the arm. tks.
I made the one I use most. My smaller ones are from Amazon, but not on there any more.
Do you a video of doing the glitter. I am a beginner and I need all the help I can get
Yep! I have tons of videos!
Which tumbler turner would you recommend??
Love the colors
Did you sand the tumbler after the epoxy in the glitter or before adding the alcohol inks?
If you use lighter colored glitter. Like purples, pinks, and teals... Does it show up as well??
It should, but won’t be as much contrast.
very pretty colors, I love them! I have a all but mermaid. If you can, please show us your finished cups at the end because by then we (some of us) don't remember the beginning, if you showed it, what it looked like. Thanks and keep up the great work!
I’ve recently started doing a few seconds of the finished cup. It took me a while to realize how helpful that might be! 😆🥰
Great work. What type of turner are you using? Is there a link to it? Thank you.
I made the one I use the most and the two mini turners I have are no longer on amazon. 😩
How do you get the white ink to blend? Ours doesn't blend completely
Love it I like the peek a boo
Love this! Great lesson!
This is probably a silly question, the "do not remove" sticker on the bottom of ozark trail wine tumblers, do you epoxy over those?
I do. If they are on crooked or have a weird lip, I will put epoxy in that spot and let it cure before proceeding with the design. It has camouflaged a couple of bad spots. I am paranoid that removing will break the vacuum seal. Some people have said they remove, but I’d rather take that one extra step to be sure I don’t ruin it. 😁 not a silly question at all!
Thank you, I've been hesitant to purchase them.
Oh I love it ! Beautiful !
So when you put the epoxy in the middle is it actually goin all the way down while its turning
What brand and color is that glitter? Sorry if you mentioned it already
Stacey Duncan this is Galaxy from
www.FransGlitterandMore.com
After your finished with the oil and its set where you want it to be do you epoxy over the old portion of the cup ?
Yes, final coat over everything.
That came out so pretty
Reminds me of a Aurora sky.
What did the glass look like before glitter?
Can you make a glitter tumbler without having to use epoxy?
Some people use CrystaLac instead of epoxy. I’ve never tried it.
@@ThePurpleStitch thank you!
I like crystalac
Very pretty!
Hi, what a beautiful cups you make, your tutorials are nice and so relaxing. I would love to try and make my first cup but I do not know what kind of epoxi to buy. it is Epoxi resin art kit ok ? TIA
Anabella Clouten I’m not familiar with that brand. If the label says FDA compliant, the. You should be good. I have great results with Envirotex, but will be experimenting with other brands soon.
Do you remeber where you found that cup? I really like that shape!
Yep!! This is an ozark trail from Walmart. I got some 4 packs after Christmas the year before.
Hello! Love the colors!!!! So vibrant!
My question is when on the final step of a cup like the last possible step how do I fix the divot like holes?
Example, I'm making a cup for a present for my brother in law and I put a layer of exopy over the decal, let it cure. It was a couple days before I was able to finish so I know ample time had passed. I laid down the final coat to ensure that everything was even and to my ocd liking lol. However it decided to spread and leave divots all over the exopy. Now, I've tried sanding, I've tried stripping with acetone and I'm having trouble. The cup is salvageable and I'm trying to save my work. Advice?
I hate when this happens. It’s like there are spots that repel the epoxy. After you sand and wash, try doing a clear coat before the next layer. That seems to resolve my problem when it happens to me.
What happens when you use the white mixative???
I haven’t used a white mixative yet, only ink.
Mixative doesn’t move the same. It’s a bit too thick.
@@angelawhitaker6027 Thank you so much! Good to know!!!
Very Beautiful design! Great job!
Christina Cate 🥰thank you!
Very pretty. Love it a lot
Really pretty cup! Very informative. Definitely subbed.
Love this, what did you use to turn the cup constantly?
This is a turner I built when I started. I get all of my smaller ones on Amazon. Search cuptisserie or tumbler turner and you should get lots of options. 😊
This is beautiful! Question: do you have to put a second layer of wet epoxy over the dried epoxy before adding alcohol inks? Or did you just do that to make it spread more easily?
I’ve been trying to figure out how to do a glitter AND alcohol ink tumbler, but wasn’t sure on the specific steps and which one I should put on the tumbler first.
I was thinking that I could do an epoxy layer and put glitter over it so it would adhere to the tumbler. Then another coat of epoxy. Would I let that coat dry before adding my inks? Or do it like how you did and add layer of wet epoxy over the dry before adding the inks? Any/all tips and advice is much appreciated, as I’m just a beginner. Your tumbler is so beautiful! 💜
Beautiful , have you tried spraying your clear coat (epoxy) two pack clears with a little airbrush spray gun? And i want to know if the alcohol ink can be mixed in with the clear epoxy or does it re-act and doesn't mix. Can have like a nice translucent clear that's colour and then add some pearl to your clear for a final finish and it changes the effect looking straight at it and at different angles , give it a go. Love your work
I have an airbrush kit but need some SERIOUS practice with it! 😆
Looks beautiful! Is it important to always use a stainless steel tumbler? I have seen black and white base ones in market can we use those ?
Double walled is definitely recommended, but you can work with lost colors of bases. Might need to sand it a bit for good grip.
Do you epoxy again after it drys??
Yes. I like one more layer to avoid the inks rubbing off onto something else.
Love this little cup!
What are you using to turn the cups? And where do you get one?
I built the one I use most, but got all of my others on amazon.
Tried a marine two pack clear polyurethane paint and spray it on with a airbrush like to share some ideas. Love it.
Do you spray the cup black before adding the glitter?
I’m almost certain the base of this was white. But you could do a black base and any thinner areas of glitter won’t be as obvious.
What epoxy do you use mine gets so many bubbles
I really like KSRESIN. It likes heat for sure.
So pretty
Have also seen other people settling their alcohol on fire and change the effects , great video
That sounds terrifying and cool all at once!
Wish you would have shared a link to the wine glasses that inspired you. Can't find anything like that on Google.
Sorry! I actually saw them posted in Facebook groups. 😬
I have no clue what your base is made from as this just popped in my feed but the effect is really pretty at the end
Craig Famly the base is Galaxy glitter from www.fransglitterandmore.com. Thank you! 🙂
Love this!!!
Where can I find this size tumbler?!?
This is a 10 ounce that I got at Walmart. But I think thestainlessdepotcompany.com has a 10 ounce as well.
@@ThePurpleStitch thank you!!
Loved the tumbler can’t wait to try it but an FYI I didn’t read all comments so someone may have stated already that magenta is not just a fancy name but the actual name of that color. There was nothing creative or made up about the word. Look forward to other creations.
The little bottle said "senorita magenta" I think that's a little fancy, creative, and weird. Lol
If my base glitter is really rough should I apply epoxy and sand till smooth, re epoxy then do the inks?
It helps to not have big chunks sticking out, the inks will swirl differently in those areas. But a little bump or wave under that shouldn’t be a problem. 🙂
Have you tried dripping some straight alcohol in the middle of the ink drops???
I haven’t, that might dilute it a bit if I needed it to thin a bit.
Absolutely stunning. Tfs
What do you wrap around your noodle to add tightness?
I use shelf liner. I think partway through the video I show a top view. I wrap enough liner around the noodle to create a really tight grip. I'm so paranoid that one will fall off!
The Purple Stitch Thank you!!
The Purple Stitch what rotates the noodle?
Beautiful
Where do you get your canvas mugs and tumblers??
I get my tumblers from a few places: stainless depot, Walmart, buccees, etc.
I love the end resultWhat are you using to turn the glass?
It’s a turner I made when I started. You can find them on eBay/Etsy/amazon if you need a ready-made one.
Does it matter what kind of cup you use? I bought the plastic cups with straws and was wondering if I could do this on them.
🧐 I’ve seen conflicting info on this. I’ve seen some say it’s fine. Others say that the epoxy reacts to the plastic and can leach chemicals through. I personally have not done plastic cups.
The Purple Stitch ok thank you. I have a few of them and I didn’t want to have to only use vinyl on them
@@snorado1 as long as you use 651 vinyl, and don't do super skinny designs, the vinyl will last with reasonable care and use. I just made cups for our office cruise with just 651.
This is so beautiful!
Do you tape the edge inside or do anything special with the lip of the cup to keep the epoxy from sticking to spinner or leaking under?
No, that typically only happens if you use too much epoxy/the turner isn’t level/or movi g you hand over the rim and scraping the epoxy off your fingers (hopefully that makes sense).
The Purple Stitch thank ya! I have found I’m a bit heavy handed and need to ease up. Thank you for the advice!
I loved this video. I've been interested in the alcohol inks for a while - like I need ANOTHER crafting hobby...
Very pretty.
Amen
Beautiful cups
Thank you so much! 🥰
Thank you trying something new
❤❤❤, have tried a plastic tumbler
I have not tried a plastic cup. I’ve seen conflicting arguments on the safety of epoxy over plastic. From what I understand, double walled is safe but the epoxy can have a chemical reaction on plastic and leach into the cup. I have not done a deep dive on research, so I just avoid it just in case. 🙂
what do you do about the top where the mouths go? are these glasses usable after making them?
Yes. Make sure to use an epoxy that is FDA compliant to be food safe. As long as they are mixed and cured properly, they are safe for contact. But it is not recommended to use them as the actual vessel like a shot glass/bowl/plate. 🙂
So where did u buy the cup Turner? And how much is it
I made it by piecing together a couple of tutorials. It cost about $15 to build.
What adhesive do you use to put the glitter on?
I use the epoxy method 99.9% of the time. You apply a suuuuuper thin layer of epoxy and apply the glitter. Watch for any spots that need more glitter. If there is a spot with a little thicker epoxy, the glitter will sink in and have a flatter look.
could you put white in your epoxy on the bottom half and then add your colors? Would that give you the same results or make it different? Just a thought.
🤔 maybe similar. The white ink is part of what makes the swirl definition. If the epoxy itself is white, I’m guessing the colors would end up just milky...? I’m really not sure!
The Purple Stitch could be. I’m new so just wondered. Thanks. Is there a picture of it completed? Would love to see how it turned out.

Ethan and Cole
The thumbnail of this video is pretty much the end result. After about an hour it doesn’t turn much more. I think I added a picture to the album on my Facebook page...I had so many that I didn’t get pictures of. 😩
Can you uses silver instead of white ???
Maybe. If it’s a Mixative rather than ink it may not blend and swirl as well. The white also makes the colors pop, so I don’t know that silver would achieve.
After doing the alcohol inks, do u have to epoxy over it?
I always do to seal it in. If not, the color can transfer off (not sure what term I really need to use!). In fact, if I’m not sure if one was coated after, I rub it with an alcohol pad and if there’s color it isn’t sealed.
@@ThePurpleStitch so to be on a very safe side just epoxy over? Lol
It's very beautiful I love it.
What kind of cup did you use?
This is the 10 ounce from Walmart
What is the name of the glitter ?, Please.
Galaxy. There’s a coupon link posted as well if you need it. 😊
Very nice
Does the epoxy not dry if u add too much ink
Correct, I’ve heard it can prevent it from curing properly.
Where can I purchase one please?
Hi there! Www.Facebook.Com/thepurplestitch is where I do just about everything. 😊 You can send me a message when you’re ready.
What type of camera do you use? Is it just your phone held with a small tripod? Thanks
Yes, just my phone! The iPhone XR has a great camera, but I feel like I need better lighting.
