Oct 8th 2022 I made this. I used the brown from brae, the caramel, and then espresso. Threw is a shallow white and this thing came out looking sharp as shit. Thank you.
I’ve been watching a lot of cup tutorials and I can tell you right now that this is one of my favorite cups that I’ve seen yet. If you look real close you can see faces in this cup . Great job
This looks amazing! This is one of my favorite coffee flow looks that I have seen. It is so rich in color. I love your recovery tips on adding epoxy and what it does for the design.
Excellent Tutorial ! My first attempt was a bit of a bust as I didn’t get enough movement. Overall, the effect was cool , but my white didn’t move as it should have. So, I learned that I definitely hadn’t used enough epoxy and also, don’t use quick set epoxy because it just doesn’t have enough “work time”.
This reminds me why different shades of browns are my favorite colors. This is so rich and delicious looking. It reminds me of coffee but it also reminds me of like a chocolate syrupy type of thing maybe like a melted ice cream with chocolate syrup!
I love how you show your imperfections because no one is perfect. You really inspire me! That tumbler is the bomb! I think I'll make that for my dad. Thanks for sharing!
I hardly ever use browns but this so so beautiful, it would be perfect on this coffee mug I have. I love it and I love watching your videos, you’re so sweet. Thank you for sharing your immense talent, you’re very good with colors.
This is the tumbler that made me want to try some tumblers. Or at least this one. Mine looks really close to this and I can't wait to drink coffee in it. Thanks
@@ThePurpleStitch I posted a video #63 on RUclips.com/scaryhairlady and because I got the color ideas from you I mentioned your name and put it in the description as my inspiration. I just wanted to let you know. Love your videos.
You do a wonderful job with your tutorials. I can hear you perfectly and there's no outside disturbances... Cups are amazing. My new favorite RUclips station... Thank you!!!
the bare spots are caused by the white... it causes more surface tension then the other colors..it will happen with the metallic alcohol ink as well..the secret is to break the surface tension..with a swish by a toothpick..some people when doing countertops use a toothbrush.
Omg THANK YOU!! I have been wondering for what feels like ever now why the white alcohol ink would always cause these 'dry/bare' spots and someone finally was able to answer it for me! I cannot tell you how long I've been searching for that answer lol, thank you!!
@@ThePurpleStitch I’m new to this! Do you use the tooth pick to breakup/ separate the white lines? I haven’t done the cup yet, just trying to prevent the bare spots. Thank you 😊
Love your work! Love how you took time with this and showed us its ok to keep working with the products until achieved design. Thank you so much! New subbie
Thank you so much for all your videos. You have taught me a lot. I also love most of the cups I make and want to keep them but like you I don't need another. Loving this cup.
My humble opinion that, we can use 100mm PVC plumbing pipe in 10/12 inches sizes insted of TUMBLR one side can caped with MDF board cut in round size. Spray paint it, wonderful IDEA I believe. Thanks
Thanks for the video! How to you avoid bumps in the epoxy? Like when I put mine on and after it dries I run my fingers down it and it feels like some areas are higher than others.
WOW WOW WOW this is insanely AWESOME 🤩 Can I please ask a question, Do I need to use food safe resin on cup’s, because I have like 6L Norglass, crystal clear resin & I really want to give this a go
It’s always recommended to use food safe products on anything that might come into contact with your mouth or food. The MSDS paperwork for that resin should tell you if it is FDA compliant as food safe. 😊
Hi! Love all your videos! Couldn't wait to try alcohol inks on a tumbler. Question, So i tried this technique and have issues.... help! I coated the cup with resin and used alcohol inks, came out great - let it cure overnight.. Applied decals, then went to add the next coat of resin and it separated badly during curing. It barely adhered to the cup? why? Same resin, same room temp. Cup was clean and covered the whole time. How can i fix it? Thanks so much if you have the time to answer or help.
It was possibly repelling anywhere that had fingerprints touched the cup while applying the decals. I sometimes put a layer of matte clear coat over just before my final coat.
Wow, you just got yourself another subscriber :) my inks are al by pinata. Would they be suitable for this job? Of are they too pigmented? Loving your other tutorials as well, so glad I found your channel
Dios santo mujer pero porque tanta resina me tenias histerica en la silla yo jesus!!cada cual trabaja como quiera pero por Dios mi amor no nesecitas tanta
A lot of that depends on your brand of epoxy. Usually around 70° or warmer works for a lot of brands. It rarely the perfect temp in my shed, so I use a shop light to keep a steady heat while they cure.
A technique that another crafted started and shared where you take the arm off and drop the white at an angle. I causes a very similar result. Her name (I believe) is Aleeseeya or Alicia. How I did this is a different way but yields similar results. I hope that answered what you were asking. 🙂
Once I get my “perfect” pattern, I stop and let it turn and dry. By morning all has ran together. Still pretty, but not what I wanted. How do I stop this from happening?
I typically set my timer for 4-5 hours. I have racks that I can move it to afterwards if needed. But I do t bother with that if I don’t need the turner for a couple of days.
Question..I’ve recently started doing tumblers with resin and I noticed it tends to go around the inside rim where you drink out of how do you make sure it doesn’t do that?
Make sure your turner is level and try to avoid running your finger at the rim where it might scrape epoxy off. Hope that makes sense. You can also clean that off with a blade before final coating to clean it up nicely.
@@ThePurpleStitch do you recommend doing another coating of clear after you did your first coat? Or is it ok to just leave it be if it looks and feels good all around?
Bare spots are probably what's called fish eyes. Did you use flat or gloss to prime the cup white? Flat is better. You will need to sand it and wipe it with alcohol if it's an enamel(gloss or semi gloss).
Who would have thought such a simple browns palette would give such great results lol! Very rich and elegant looking. Love the light first coat technique. Thank you for sharing! Oh, what brand tumbler turner?
You could but it might end up thick and heavy. Another thing a lot of makers do to cover up mistakes is a peek a boo method. Or hydrodip over it. USUALLY if I don’t like it, someone else LOVES it. So you can also try listing them as ready to ship cups before repurposing them.

I am very interested in trying this. Do you have a step by step video for mixing and spraying the tumbler?
I don’t have a video for that. I have thought about doing one but wasn’t sure if that would be something needed or not. I guess now I have my answer!
Thanks for the video! How to you avoid bumps in the epoxy? Like when I put mine on and after it dries I run my fingers down it and it feels like some areas are higher than others.

Beautiful! Question: what does the heat do? Does it soften it and allow more movement or does it cure and set it?
Yes, it makes it a little runnier to get movement. Too much heat can cause a flash cure though!

Dios santo mujer pero porque tanta resina me tenias histerica en la silla yo jesus!!cada cual trabaja como quiera pero por Dios mi amor no nesecitas tanta
This was one of my earlier videos. I’ve definitely learned a lot since this one. 🤣
How did you manage to use a heat gum on inks? I thought it would burst into flames if I did that.
Bonsoir comment s’appelle la machine qui fait tourner le vase
Love the way it came out. Do you need to sand the tumbler after you apply the alcohol inks and then add final coat of epoxy?
No, don’t sand until there’s a layer of clear over the inks so they don’t get messed up.
Can you drink out of this cup? It's beautiful!
Yes, as long as it is coated with a food safe epoxy. Some people are sensitive to all epoxy and still use straws.
Love it! Thank you! What is the name of the other brown you ended up finding towards the end of the video? The one you intended to use.
😊 glad you enjoyed it! Thank you!
Tim Holtz Espresso is what I bought for this and found it afterwards. 😆
Do you add decals? If so., how do I send you what I want? Thank you, Vicki
What kind of epoxy do you use
Was that cup painted or a sublima, tino cup prior to adding the ink?
@@ACLU-kl7tm just a regular spray painted base
What type of apoxy do you use? This cup is beautiful by the way!
Also, the heat gun just softens the apoxy so it flows better correct?
I use Envirotex lite. The heat makes the epoxy more liquid and runny. It can also pop a lot of the bubbles. 😁
Do you add a final layer of epoxy after it turns for a while to seal in the inks or is it ready to go after it cures? The cup looks great.
Yes. I always add at least one more layer over inks. & thank you!
This was awesome to watch. What should the room temperature that your working in be?
A lot of that depends on your brand of epoxy. Usually around 70° or warmer works for a lot of brands. It rarely the perfect temp in my shed, so I use a shop light to keep a steady heat while they cure.

I bet you can use green and white this same way and make a camo tumbler.
So far I haven’t been happy with any of my camo attempts. But it should work!
Once I get my “perfect” pattern, I stop and let it turn and dry. By morning all has ran together. Still pretty, but not what I wanted. How do I stop this from happening?
How long did you end up letting it turn at the end to cure? Do you keep it on your turner for the entire curing process or do you transfer to a rack?

Will you put a layer of epoxy onthe tumbler after the inks try.
Yes. It’ll prevent the inks rubbing off onto other surfaces. I actually check with an alcohol pad if I can’t remember if a cup got the top layer. 😆
