    Ohio only because I think having a 28.5 shaft is more diverse for any lift or press. The Cali does have nice looking welds no doubt.

    I purchased American Barbell weights 320 lbs and the $295 power bar in 2018. The products are Grade A excellent. Way better than the crap at my local gym.

    Thanks for this review. Seriously considering this bar. I've heard that compared to other bars this one is very quiet when dropped with bumper plates. Do you happen to have a video with the sound of this bar being dropped?

      Hey bud. I’ve done decibel tests on the home gym discord. It’s indeed quite a bit quieter. Still love the bar today.

    I have a Rogue Ohio Bar (non-Cerakote) and an American Barbell California Bar (black Cerakote). In my opinion, the California Bar is superior to the Ohio Bar in nearly every aspect of the wide range of functional fitness I use these bars for. The 0.5mm small diameter of the California Bar is noticable and welcomed on nearly every lift, especially hook grip lifts. The whip of the bar is exceptionally better than the Ohio Bar to the point that, now that my technique has improved enough, I can actually clean and snatch more with this bar than my Ohio Bar. And one of my favorite thing about this bar is the sound it makes when dropped when compared to the God awful sound the Rogue bars make; I didn't think it was a big deal, but when I drop my Ohio Bar at home or use the bars at my gym, which are all Rogue bars, I'm instantly reminded of how quiet and solid sounding the California Bar is when dropped. The knurl on the bar may be just every so slightly less aggressive than my Ohio Bar, but the 0.5mm smaller diameter makes up for it in the grip department enough to call it a tie. @Garage Gym Lab... nice review!

    Do u know if the American barbell training bar has a 28mm diameter shaft or 28.5? Their website clearly states the California bar has a 28 mm while it didn't say what the diameter of the training bar is.

    I am either going to purchase THE OHIO BAR - CERAKOTE, or THE CERAKOTE CALIFORNIA BAR. Tough call. Still do not know. The CERAKOTE CALIFORNIA BAR gives 10% off for signing up so would cost $330.50 includes shipping and and tax. The THE OHIO BAR - CERAKOTE with shipping and tax cost $388.37 But I do like the Black sleeve vs chrome on THE OHIO BAR - CERAKOTE,. Plus I do like the name decal on THE OHIO BAR - CERAKOTE. If I can not make up my mind I will wait. Maybe buy neither. I am currently using the REP Gladiator WL Bearing Bar. Which is the best bar I have ever used and cost $304 including shipping and tax. But I am looking for another bar for doing Bench, Squatt, Deads, Cleans. Which one would you buy?

    Do you have any advice on deciding between the 15KG version of the California Bar and the 15KG Rogue Bella Bar? Deciding on a cerakote one for my partner and am hearing good things about both.

    • @GarageGymLab

      I don’t think you can go wrong with either. Bella bar will present a slightly more aggressive knurl.

      @@GarageGymLab Would you reccomend Cerakote American Training Barbell with Chrome Sleeves?

  • @billiamfallace2938
    @billiamfallace2938 5 лет назад

    Considering your dislike of grooves on sleeves, but also making sure to consider all other factors, which bar would you prefer: the Vulcan Elite Olympic, or the American Barbell Precision Training bar?
    I also don't like grooves, but I also appreciate more aggressive knurls and higher whip (I'm not sure one is more whippier than the other). The finish on both is of no consequence, since I prefer bare steel and that's not an option.

    • @adamhensley53
      @adamhensley53 5 лет назад

      I generally lean American Barbell in general given the made in U.S.A nature and the craftsmanship... but the Vulcan Elite Olympic I would probably lean towards in this instance because it's going to be a bit more aggressive and I like the center knurl on the Vulcan. Both bars will be fantastic though.

    • @billiamfallace2938
      @billiamfallace2938 5 лет назад

      I believe both bars are manufactured in the US.
      I also like the center knurl of the Vulcan. They also list a metal type that may be superior.
      If it weren't for those damned grooves in the sleeves this decision would be easy. I have my home gym in a garage attached to a neighbor and feel bad each time I "zzzzip" a plate onto my rogue power bar.
      I'm curious if you or anyone else who sees this comment knows whether the American Barbell or Vulcan is quieter when dropped.

    • @GarageGymLab
      @GarageGymLab  5 лет назад

      @@billiamfallace2938 Vast majority of Vulcan equipment is made overseas. On the products that are manufactured in the USA, they will mention it in the description. I am totally with you on the zip noise. I wouldn't personally read too much into the steel type. Both are going to be high quality and I highly doubt you would notice any real difference. I can't say for sure on which is quieter when dropped... I think that too wouldn't be too different between the two. I think it may come down to this question: Which do you prefer more, a center knurl or smooth sleeves?
