Ruby did not lose track of what was right and what was wrong. She had always neglected her children and treated them cruelly and as possessions. She's only sorry that she got caught.

The father had a significant role in the discipline of his children. He had multiple instances where he could have gotten help for their abusive treatment during the marriage and after he ceased living in the same household.

I HATE people that abuse children. I'm speaking as a survivor of child abuse and neglect. It is a horrible experience that I would not wish on my WORST ENEMY. People tell you that you have to heal and yes, you can learn to leave with it, however, the scar is ALWAYS there.
