I'm gonna overdose on copium and say this game is gonna reach the greatness of Persona 5 royal and be considered one of the greatest JRPG of all time. Feel free to clown on me if I'm wrong in the future 🤡👍
Gotta say, I love plots that revolve around some kind of tournament or competition. It’s interesting to watch what kind of relationships can form in these types of scenarios. Can’t wait to see how Atlus handles it here.
I hear Radiant Historia music in the background. I know it’s kinda old at this point but you should make a series on that if you haven’t already, one of my top JRPGs of all time.
Given this is an Atlus game, I am also interested in 3 things A) *possible different endings* Perhaps the endings could be the protagonist become a *benevolent ruler* ,a *tyrant* or demolish the whole caste system and *change the kingdom to become a republic* or even a *plot twist that shatters reality* B) *Cameo appearances* Atlus loves sprinking cameos from their past games and I doubt Metaphor Refantazio would be different. We already can see the tall pink hair woman as Catherine but I am curious if we would see *some other people or demons from previous Atlus games* Maybe even an abandoned Jack Frost doll 😅 C) *DLC* I know the idea of DLC is hated right now, but it may be inevitable. What new content would be added exclusively as DLC? *Character costumes?* *Exclusive archetypes/gear?* *Post game dungeon?*
The true ending of the game will obviously be something way different than what we're expecting even now. It's definitely going to go existential, like we somehow wake the prince up and get to know about the horrors of the Titan Star and have to destroy it now.
Story on racism, classism, politics and other darker tones and themes sounds very interesting. This game has caught my attention. They are also using their unique calendar system other jrp don't use or get right. Can't wait to be "no good Tora" in this game😂
Johne this is amazing 😍 Thank for this comprehensive analysis. I knew when I watched the second trailer we would be able to figure out everything about the basic story and gameplay but you went DEEP for this one! Learning that Japanese is paying off! I'm so excited for the game. This will be my number 1 most anticipated IP of 2024! Looking forward to hearing more of your thoughts on the game 😊
In the interview Hashino did a few months back there's some footage playing in the background, and in it you can see the player obtaining new Archetypes from doing the social link-like mechanic. We see him obtain the Healer archetype form Maria and the Brawler archetype from Catherine. It looks like you also unlock them from the vitruvian man shaped board from the blonde man in the library.
@@Boltothemage so, no "Wild" creatures becoming usable, like how Personas work on most games. I was hoping to use that egg-shaped thing as my Archetype... The, uhm, Egg Thrower Archetype or something
I just realized something the blonde haired horned man resembles SMT ..Lucifer , based on what he says in the english trailer about the strongest being the only one who should rule... I'm guessing he's going to be one of the main antagonist ....so with that being said..... Are horned people some how connected to demons? (you know like a tiefling ?) or are they just regular run of the mill saytuars and we going to see the classic SMT... Law vs Chaos dynamic play out again?
It's likely that it's a way of doing pre emptive damage before the battle starts and if enemies aren't strong enough to take the damage then the battle would end before it begins. That's probably why turn based wasn't engaged on those smaller enemies
I really really hope this game has a good story and a good cast of characters. I loved SMTV but it's hard to talk positively about the game when, honestly, only half of it was worth talking about. The other half is the story and characters. I know these aren't 1to1 the same devs so my worries might be unwarranted. But I still desperately hope it's nothing like SMTV in that regard. I've been waiting for this about as long as most people here, and I definitely hope we get what we deserve after all that time watching a man eating his bird on video (the 2nd teaser to this game).
The cursed prince could be an ending thing like depending on the people’s perception of the mc could end with him getting the crown or the prince being seen as the rightful heir to the throne. Or it could be an end of the game clash of ideals.
It's definitely Press Turn, in the first trailer when the dragon gets a crit against the party in the first trailer you can see the crystal icon change rather than disappearing, and in this trailer in the brief shot of Protag and Strohl fighting the Egg you can see there are only 2 crystals because it's a 2 person party Synthesis as well seems to use multiple full or half press turns to do attacks which you can see in both trailers
So I think the first trailer makes it really clear that this world is a kind of purgatory from which one can "ascend" to Earth as we know it. DDS and SMT4 have already done similar things. I think this is kind of the same thing, but for the Persona world. It doesn't really have to affect the internal plot of this game at all, but I think it'd be cool if the protag, the pixie, and Hulkenberg were unknowingly Makoto, Aigis and Chidori trying to make it back to the living world. And although this world doesn't seem to explicitly have demons/personas, there are a lot of uncannily similar designs there too. As someone else pointed out, one character looks like Helel-form Lucifer. I noticed another is very similar to Shiva. A lot of these variety of characters seem to be running the tournament. I definitely think there's something deceptive going on here. If it's something like SMT4 but with Hashino's level of writing, even if my specific theory isn't right, I think it's gonna be something really good.
The old man is probably a party member just going off the fact he was in the party order during that scene and had the mage archetype. I was thinking "Is guy actually tearing his heart out to transform/summon and archetype? Thats raw" so seeing it better here is cool Really excited for this game, most anticipated game of next year, numba 1. P3R is probably like number 5 right now just because its a remake.
I honestly think it looks like it could be quite good but until the game comes out I won't know for sure if it's a buy at full price or wait for a sale kind of game. I'm definitely going to try it when it does go on sale if I don't buy it at launch. I've only just started playing P5 Strikers this year because I was able to get it really cheap. I want to support Atlus because I do believe they deserve the money but I don't want to waste money.
*{Day 365&285} of been impressed by P5R and waiting for P6.* I'm pretty darn hyped for this game, since it's something that Atlus hasn't tried in a really long while now. I can hardly remember a game in which the protag isn't a High School student. The earliest I can think of is SMT4 with Flynn. 12:23 I'm pretty certain it's turnbased when you fight after getting the initial damage in. Because right on left of the titan star, you see 3 identical crystals. I'm pretty certain that that's our press turns. 10:24
good vid, even if I do disagree with a few points made. Like the idea of the tournament being a surprise. if the tournament was a surprise the "welcome one and all to the inauguration of the tournament for the throne" line in the second trailer won't make a lot sense Same thing with the idea of the clergy being unaware of the tyrant star. If the clergy was unaware of the tyrant star why would the one clergyman we see, face towards the castle when giving his speech instead of the crowd
Maybe the assassin clergyman didn't know about the whole tyrant star given their young age The clergyman was giving the address was old and probably knew about the archaic tradition of selecting a new ruler through the royal tournament
The official website states that no one knew the magic that gives rise to the tournament was a thing until after the king died, and it activated on its own. So yes it's a surprise, but people in power are probably acting as if it's all under control to put themselves in a favourable position relative to the tournament.
Probably the fact that it's making a comparison between Fantasy and Real Life by making the Fantasy a Reality in the game while the real life is just a fantasy that they look forward to.
TLDR: you join a tournament to get the throne after the king gets assassinated and on the way try to solve racism
You're trying to save your childhood friend with seven other people with trauma.
It kinda sounds like Ni No Kuni 2, and I love it

True SMT story right there.
Thank you for the updates, the dedication and the analysis! So little is known about this game and any information is greatly appreciated!
#10:05 The boss character here, the monster depicted in the works of Hieronymus Bosch.
It seems my prediction was completely correct.
So hyped up for this game, can't wait for Fall 2024 or to see an actual release date.

Katherine being in the game would be kinda hot
Yeah there huge addon/dls and i hope that we don't need to buy game second time so it will work like in latest generation of monsterhunters

in fairness I had lots of help but thank you
I'm curious about if we're going to have different "demons" to tame or add to our abilities, or how these Archetypes work...
In the interview Hashino did a few months back there's some footage playing in the background, and in it you can see the player obtaining new Archetypes from doing the social link-like mechanic. Maybe the action portion is for grinding and the turn based is for more important fights ?
It's likely that it's a way of doing pre emptive damage before the battle starts and if enemies aren't strong enough to take the damage then the battle would end before it begins. That's probably why turn based wasn't engaged on those smaller enemies
