Hi! Texas Renaissance Festival is my home faire, every weekend has its own theme, it changes each weekend. It is set during Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon’s reign. And it is very Tudor in the court clothing, and VERY fantasy in everything else 😂
I'm from minnesota and our renaissance festival has different themes every weekend and the comedy show there is immaculate!! The turkey legs are also only like $6 or $7 i can't remember the price but it is so amazing!! i highly recommend!❤
I live in NY and def agree that the coffee place you guys went is a solid A+. Also, the leather place you went with the mushroom bag was there when I went earlier in the month :)! Love that store & the people who work there are super talented.
I'm sorry i didn't see this sooner. Nor did i see you sneak past me while i was working at the bench before the owner started working on your holster. I'm generally the guy making belts out front of the leather shop. Glad you enjoyed the faire, hope you make it to many more and possibly back to NYRF
Just a couple notes, a lot of the larger east coast faires seem to be extremely heavy on mass produced, NYRF has the most handmade or custom products of the ones I've seen from Maine to Virginia at least. There are a lot of great smaller ones to check out at as well, the Sparta nj faire is small but great, amd the new York faerie fest is weird but amazing as well.
Yay! I wondered if you had ever been to this one! I went a few years back and enjoyed my day. However, I will say... The Sterling Renn Faire in Central NY is WAY better! A lot bigger and the vibe is great! Also there's more tree cover, which in the summer heat is important!
I'll have to check that one out! I've been to Sparta in NJ and that one was small but very cute. Bigger and more tree cover sounds great though! tbh I think the tree cover is what is influencing my decision most on deciding which faire is my favorite 😅 md is just so shady and nice I never feel like the sun is trying to bake me alive lol
While NYRF was my first fair and former home fair, I've since moved further upstate and got to go to Sterling this year and it was such a wonderful time! Have to say, I agree with you that Sterling's definitely got the extra brownie points in term of space and more cover. That was a lifesaver when I went since it ended up being a pretty hot/sunny day. Definitely cannot wait to go back next year!
Thank you for this video. I have been contemplating this faire for a while. I usually just go to the PA. Renne faire, but now thanks to your video I am going to spend a weekend here and eventually at the maryland faire.
My home Faire! Been going to this one since 1983. Used to be for a few years back in the early 2000's we would go every single day of the Faire and bought Queens passes. We knew the vendors, we knew the actors, we even got to visit camp after hours. It was magical. It's been a long time since the Faire was like that, and we haven't been in a few years. Many of our vendor and actor friends have moved on, although my cousin worked at the coffee and tea shop by the Swan stage (or, it used to be called the Swan stage, I think it's the Sun Stage now.) I'm not sure when she last worked there, though. We've been going to the NJ Ren fires of late - there are two, one in north Jersey, closer to me, and one more southern. Our "baby dragon" breeder friend works both the southern NJ Faire and the NY one, you might have seen him. St George's Orphanage.
I have only ever been to the Ohio Renaissance Festival and I always have a good time there. I do want to visit the Pennsylvania Renaissance Festival. I have watched From The Hobbit Hole's videos and they always make it look like so much fun.
I went to that Ren Faire 2 weeks ago!! It's wonderful, but close to NYC, so it's quite expensive in general. If you didn't, you should go see Aaron Bonk's show whenever you're there. He's been there a while, and he's amazing!!
We went memorial day, it was our first time since moving to the east coast. We picked this one since it was the same company as the Bristol faire in Wisconsin. We were pleased by it but i think the bristol faire will always be special to me, def recommend bristol.
omg omg omg! TXRF is one of my "home" faires and i would loooooove to see you go to it and experience it. also, would definitely love a potential chance to meet you, even if very briefly to just say hello and i enjoy your content! that turkey leg at this faire actually looked good to me and i don't like turkey legs at faires lol
OMG! Love your videos and was so thrilled to see your review of the NYRF! I've only ever been to the MD Rennfest years ago when I lived in Alexandria, VA, and actually worked a season there as a Wench for a friend who co-owned the Guess-Your-Weight Scales. Fun times! I've lived in NYC for a while now and finally decided this is the year I'll book a bus ticket from Port Authority Bus Terminal to and from the NYRF. I'm going on September 30 and will definitely look for the donuts!! ❤
Texas Renaissance Festival is my home faire! it is HUGE so for trip planning I'd recommend two days if doable. its also still very hot in TX in October, so I would recommend going towards the later half of the season. the Halloween and Christmas themed weekends are my favorite! Definitely would recommend the bird show and fire whip show, as well as the joust of course. I would also recommend the Sherwood Forest Faire, its located closer to Austin and takes place in the early spring so the weather is usually quite nice by TX standards 😊 Sherwood is also pretty unique for having real vs scripted jousting, as well as an archery tournament!
So glad you got to experience NYRF! Sad that I missed seeing you - I haven't had as much luck spotting people this year. My handmade pottery booth is right behind the Cock and Bull if you kept walking straight at 1:32. I feel like it's easy to feel like the faire is smaller than it really is because a lot of the routes double-back on themselves (like you said) so folks miss entire sections. I remember the first year I sold there not even realizing there was a Viking Village! Did you make it back there? It's sort of the furthest point back in the faire. There is also a stage in the woods behind the joust field (Sherwood Forest Stage) - so many hidden treasures to find on the 65 acres! Did you find the circle of thrones photo op? One of my favs! Love seeing your Ren Faire videos and hope you make it back to NYRF with less time restrictions! There are so many amazing shows to experience!
I went to NYRF as my first faire this year and I had a blast. I definitely didn’t get to do everything bc there was so many things. I wish I had spotted the donut place cause that looked sooo good.
Aww, this was my first Faire! I lived with my aunt and uncle the years I was 15 and 16. They were musicians at the Faire, so I got to go every weekend for free! I wore borrowed garb from my aunt and I babysat their kids while they performed. I spent all of my earnings on buying my own costume pieces, lol. I still have the pieces, though they smell funny now and the bodice doesn't fit (20 years later, lol).
Some time you should check out the GA Renn Fest. It's the only one in GA and the only true mass produced things I have found there is the souvenir shop with tshirts, tank tops and bags. All of which have various designs - some even say Georgia Renaissance Festival.
If you ever make it out to the midwest, Bristol Ren Faire near Chicago is incredible! They have themed weekends and the number of vendors, food stalls, and food variety is awesome. Not to mention - flushable toilets!! It's huge and I always try to make it there at least twice a season. Imo the one major downside is it's only held July-Labor Day so it's always hot and kind of miserable weather wise lmao 💀 Super worth it though!
Thank you for all these Renn faire videos and hot tips! I started watching your videos last year after I went to the PA faire. This year I’m finally going back to my home faire, the MD Renn faire, and I feel so much more prepared and excited! And it’s all because of your videos and engagement. Thank you so much!
If you are in Texas around March-April stop on by Sherwood Forest Faire It has a great cozy and calming atmosphere and I might be biased in saying this but the fairies there are some of the best I've seen 😉
TFR is one of my favorite faires I highly suggest you camp when you go it adds to the experience, in my opinion. it's a real big faire and it's hard to experience in one day. If I remember correctly, it does have some different bars (it's been awhile since I've been. I move around a lot). I also suggest going to the MN Ran Faire. It's really fun. and if you like mead, it has a variety of meads. MD ran faire is only faire I've seen with free water and a first aid station that's pretty obvious. Usually, other faires have it on the outskirts so that they can have additional entrance through incase some one is injured in front of the faire ground. (have also experienced this. someone I was with fell and we had to go to first aid and entered the faire through the first aid station.)
NYRF is my home Renn Faire so I’ve been going there for years. Been to PA Renn Faire once years ago but going again this year. Next year I’m planning to check out King Richard’s Faire in MA. I stopped going to NYRF, personally even though it’s my home Faire. It used to be much better and more artisan friendly but the owners who took it over really changed things for the worse for the vendors and jacked up the rates for them (which is why you now have so many mass produced shops). Additionally we had some experiences at NYRF wherein vendors and staff were not very family friendly toward children with special needs so we opted to stop going. Which is a shame because I used to love this Faire before these owners took over.
Do you have plans to come to Georgia Ren Faire? If so let me knwo which weekend you will be there and hopefully we can meet. I go everyyear at least one day
There's a renfaire in Michigan which we haven't been to yet. Unfortunately, it'll be next year before we can go. Their last weekend is coming up and we can't make it because we're heavily into making our cosplays for Youmacon.
If you ever get the chance, the Tennessee Renn Faire in Nashville is actually my home faire and is located *at* an actual castle. The owner of the faire lives in Castle Gwynn and opens it up for tours every faire weekend and it's super cool. I'm like 90% sure the castle was in a Taylor Swift video so its kind of iconic.
I encourage you to come visit the AZ Ren Fair. We have the best bathrooms!! They are not Porta potty’s !! We have real bathrooms!! Our food is not fantastic but it’s getting better. It’s runs for almost 3 months of weekends!!
I want to visit the New york Renaissance festival so bad but im scared but I'm going to come back to my home Renaissance festival in Arizona and be disappointed 😭
I live in Houston so we go to Texas Ren fair every year. I love it but it’s not Italian like she thinks. They have different lands so there’s a Greek area, Celtic, pirate, etc. also they have themed weekends.
I have and honestly had a really bad experience there with one of the workers harassing Micah for having a man bun weirdly enough. Its also very small. But I liked some of the shops and performances
@@moth.faerie Oh no! I'm sorry you guys had that experience. It's been years since I've been there cause I moved away. I miss the carollin (spelling? The big bell instrument) performance the most, watching the glass blowing and all the cool shops. My sister went this year and they had a silks performer which I thought was pretty unique. I hope the fair is getting better.
I don't mean that they ban wearing mass produced items, they ban the sale of mass produced items by vendors at the faire in favor of having artisan produced items

Ooh good to know! That seems to be the case with most faires but I love dressing up fantasy so that’s ok with me 🥰
I was also going to recommend the Texas one in Plantersville ❤
I'm from minnesota and our renaissance festival has different themes every weekend and the comedy show there is immaculate!! The turkey legs are also only like $6 or $7 i can't remember the price but it is so amazing!! i highly recommend!❤

Glad you enjoy the shop, it's a fun place to work too... especially after the sun stops blinding me after the sun gets a bit higher in the sky

hope you had fun. I don't have friends left that want to go to the NY Ren Faire anymore
the NY Faire is my home faire! So glad you had fun!

Have to agree💖

You guys should come to the New York Faerie Festival in June! It's not that far away from NYRF and Hawk Studio leather is there too!
We went memorial day, it was our first time since moving to the east coast. We picked this one since it was the same company as the Bristol faire in Wisconsin. We were pleased by it but i think the bristol faire will always be special to me, def recommend bristol.
I’m planning for Bristol next year! Md is def my favorite on the east coast if you’re close enough to visit 😊
My first thought when the restrooms were mentioned: "Come on MD, step up your sink game!"
