    • @MegaTriumph1
      @MegaTriumph1 4 года назад

      @flying fast The fire is on the inside, they should worry about the fire on the inside not the above the waterline hull.

    • @ioio5993
      @ioio5993 4 года назад

      @@MegaTriumph1 It's to cool the hull and keep the steel plating from weakening and warping. Its estimated to be about 1200 degrees inside, which is near the melting point of steel. Also, at that temperature you get fire flashbacks, once the fire gets a bit of oxygen.

      They would not target this guy for no reason. This does not happen when an entire ship burns down like that. I cant remember one incident in my life time that a ship has burned down like this. If it was an accident they would have said so. It would make no sense to point the blame. Some military people this is the only job they can get because they are no right upstairs. If they cant produce evidence that he did it, it will go nowhere just knowing someone did a crime is not enough. The fire may have been intentional but now you have got to prove it.

      @Roger Stryker I know its horrible, would not wish that on anyone, I've watched the docs. Most ships end up there to be scrapped however because there are no regulations on pollution so its the easy way out. India has no steel resources so they buy boats to recycle the metal.

    Microsoft News: "Eighteen sailors were seriously injured in the explosion and subsequent fire of an amphibious assault ship, the USS Bonhomme Richard, anchored at the San Diego naval base. The whole crew was rescued and nobody misses the appeal. Firefighters responded to three fire alarms. According to firefighters, the ship could burn for days below the waterline. The causes of the accident are still unknown." It is an LHA very similar to the Italian Navy's LHD Trieste; the ship, a jewel of the USA war technique, multifunctional as an amphibious assault ship with floodable basin for Overcraft and LVTP7, for assault from the air by helicopters CH-53E Super Stallion or MH-53E Sea Dragon and aircraft carrier (it is the transition from AV-8 Plus to F35 is underway) will probably be unrecoverable

      You are right the Wasp class ships have been LHD certified, but they derive from the Tarawa class ships that had been designated as LHA, that is, assault ships, then we chose a very aggressive LHD Helicopter landing ships and floodable basin (Dock).
      Fortunately, as you say, the Bonomme Richard was not anchored and therefore we were able to tow it away from other ships and not put the fire on them ...

      You certainly know about me, that I am an Italian Navy enthusiast, but in my opinion the LHA and the LHD with the continuous flight bridge do not have many differences ... The term Landing Helicopter Dock is much less aggressive than Landing Helicopter Assault
