I saw and visited this ship in Istanbul in summer. I talked to sailors too. It was good experience. They even make free burritos in ship:) Its huge. It's for training for young sailors.
What a beautiful ship with a beautiful message. I cried when the two brother's hugged each other. I'm one whose good at hiding my emtions. I'd like to see more news segments like this in such turbulent times. It gives me hope!
When my brother hugged me, after 14 years, he started crying, but I didn’t feel anything at the moment; it was 3 nights later that I realized, one of my dreams came true, and I started to cry like a baby. 😊
As an American it hurts my heart that our Goverment is more obsessed with problems around the world than, than having a good relationship with our own neighbors.
Yes, she is ! How about the fellas that built her, a labor of love. Those who sailed her, brimming with pride... And we can't forget the thousands of smiles and awe struck little ones seeing a ship like her. A beautiful ship indeed ! 🙂
You can google it but must of the webpages and official webpages are in Spanish. This ship was built in Bilbao, Spain in 1981 and originally called Celaya but they changed the name and now It’s Cuauhtémoc. By the way this is not only a Ship but a school. Cuauhtémoc was acquired by the Mexican Navy as a training vessel for officers, cadets, petty officers and sailors.
@@WorldCitizenW Wow that’s great! I’m glad you had a chance to see this amazing Ship and I hope you enjoyed it. By the way, of the 261 crew members, 208 are men and 53 are women, making it the largest number of female elements that will sail on the ship, also known as 'Knight of the Seas' 😉
FANTASTIC! Periodically, there used to be gatherings of tall ships from navies around the world for special occasions. I don't remember the most recent, but IIRC, there was a gathering back in 1976 in New York Harbor for the US Bicentennial of our Independence.
I'm from Mexico and I had never seen this ship or advertising project before, or at least as far as I can remember. I pretty much like the idea of showing some friendliness and ethnic authenticity to people from other countries, but the whole concept falls apart when foreigners don't respect us nor trust us due to our out-of-control problems of corruption, violence and organized crime. Hopefully we'll soon have a good government that starts putting everything back together again, and it won't be a leftist government like the one we've had since 2018. Also, what I don't like is that my fellow Mexicans dress up as mariachis because they know they'll make foreigners smile doing that, but nobody really dresses like that in Mexico on a daily basis, and the mariachi tradition (along other decent Mexican traditions) is losing ground to horrendous narcoculture. It's more common to see people dress up like a drug mafioso (which has its particular look: Cowboy hat, ostentatious buttoned shirt with a golden chain around the neck, cowboy boots, something like that) than a mariachi. Mexico is not what it used to be...
Are you even from here? None anywhere dresses like a mariachi casually, it's for celebration. You can hire a mariachi band to play at any event in the country.
What are you talking about? Mexico is not what it used to be? You do realize that Mexico has a very bloody history, it always has and not likely always will be. I'm Mexican and I know this. Mariachi is a part of Mexico and a part of the music, or at least it's a style that is still used for special occasions. There is nothing quite like saving up money and getting a mariachi to play for your parents.
