      Zurg was never meant to be a real villain hes just a toy like them but advertised as the antagonist for Buzz in their "story". But hes just another person or toy like them lol. Sure they could have delved further into him thinking hes meant to be the villain just like how Buzz thinks hes an actual space ranger...but it's not really necessary either. Not every Pixar movie needs a super villain or even main antagonist. He was there for more lighthearted comedy. That's all. Personally I've always had an issue with how charles muntz was handled in UP. It's one of the few times where i think a sympathetic villain would have been the better option because his backstory is actually really sad. He has his entire reputation destroyed over something that wasn't his fault and tries to fix it and over time slowly decends into madness over his obsession. I always thought it was a bit lame that they just make him generic evil man when his motivations are actually really understandable

      I mean, he was alone for God knows how many years, with only the company of his dogs. I think it makes sense he went crazy and paranoical to the point of killing the explorers who went there (thinking they were after his bird) though a redemption arc would be interesting, to say the least.

    Something i really like about AUTO is the design; Pixar made a literal ship steering wheel robot intimidating af 💀

      One way it could be seen is how it could've been a protocol added to AUTO to prevent any reason to return to Earth as they followed the order to not return to Earth. So they would add the defense protocol to AUTO to neutralize any target so they don't gain any control over the Axiom to return to Earth.
      Another reason could be for if any rogue passengers try to attack the ship and take control, AUTO could be able to defend themself and neutralize the enemy. They probably had to take many precautions when building the Axiom as they made this in order to make this new home for all of civilization as safe as possible, but AUTO took the order very seriously as programmed to and caused the entire main conflict of the film and used the defense protocol to not let anything drive them away from their orders.

    43:28 something I wanna add about this line. Chef Boyardee was a real person. Hector Boiardi was an immigrant who helped low income families during the the Great Depression by selling jars of sauce to families. Pasta is and was pretty cheap, so it was a way for families to feed themselves during these times. He would establish his brand later on under the name Chef Boy-ar-dee so that Americans could pronounce it easier.
    There's more to the story, but what's important is that he was a real person who has fallen from the public eye to become just another mascot for cheap food. Sound familiar? The context makes this line a pretty devastating burn to be honest.

    I still say Screenslaver had a good option. It should have been both siblings. Winston is the guy in the mask and the brains behind the scheme, and Evelyn is the one behind the technology of the plan. They are faking crimes and putting real people in danger to make a point as to why superheroes need to come back. It plays off that same issue of the first movie, if idolizing people but not learning the lessons you need to, but also comes to a different conclusion while getting similar results. Syndrome made an issue and solved it himself while deeming no one else fit to be a hero. The Deavors could have been making issues and solving it through heroes to show why they are needed, which could leave a more powerful message at the end about doing the right thing for the right reasons.

      Very much agreed. If the first movie tells the tale of how bitter hatred stemming from disappointment in meeting your idol can lead a person down a dark path, the second could tell a tale on how blind idolatry can turn into dangerous fanaticism.

    My favorite part about Ercole is his "we are afraid of you" speech. Like, the other humans in the film were after sea monsters due to fear of the unkown, and it was actually understandable. Put yourself in their shoes: were you really be willing to bet those supposedly monstrous sea beings were peaceful? But Ercole KNOWS Luca and Alberto are harmless children, but he uses the fear everybody, understandably, has of them to justify HIS greed and hate (he only wants to kill them because A: He wants the prize money and B: He hates their guts). Plus, the way he says that without a twinge of fear in his voice is what sells it for me.

Sid is horrified and humbled, Stinky Pete is taken in by a child who definitely won't keep him mint, Al gets the wind knocked from his sails by losing his big sale, Lotso is made a laughing stock on the front of a truck, and Gabby Gabbie is hit with cold hard reality about the fickle nature of children.

    Monsters University even makes things even more interesting with the whole backstory of how they all met. Further proof that Randall wanted revenge on Sully was the line: "That's the last time I lose to you, Sullivan!" Which led me to believe that Randall held a grudge against Sully way before Monsters Inc.

    • @kflip11
      @kflip11 7 месяцев назад +7

      Even though I think Monsters University is inferior overall, I really like how Randall started off as Mike's roommate only to turn to the dark side (one flaw of this movie however is that this transition for Randall is entirely offscreen). Then when you rewatch Monsters Inc, the line "you don't know how long I've wanted to do that to you, Sullivan" line is much more impactful because you're able to connect more dots

    • @unknown_limes
      @unknown_limes 7 месяцев назад +4

      @@kflip11 I totally understand seeing that movie as inferior, it does have a pacing issue, but I've always loved Monsters University as a prequel. Mike was a great comedic voice in the original, but adding some flesh to his character and challenging his self confidence was necessary to fully round him out (ha). With Monsters at Work also in play, the franchise is a pretty well done series about a world with a clearly biased social structure that needed to change and the duo who put in the effort to create a kinder reality. Of course, the bulk of that work was done in Monsters Inc, but the other two entries show us 1) how the previous social structure left incredibly capable monsters at a disadvantage for things they can't control and 2) how the process of changing this social structure was, in fact, a complicated process requiring people to make major changes to their lives and thought patterns.

That's messed up on so many levels and that's even before considering kidnapping.

      @katherinesmallbean3594 From what I heard from one critic, that was another dead giveaway.
      I think it would've been better if the Screenslaver had been a politician and wanted the supers gone because out one damage caused his or her family to be killed by one of the destructions caused by a superhero-but that was Buddy when he tried to be a hero and has caused damage that got ppl killed. This politician is so full of rage and fear that his/her new family would be killed again if supers were reinstated and decided to use technology to make the supers look bad. But there's a flaw in the system and now the Screenslaver kidnaps Evelyn, who also feels that ppl depend on supers too much but would never go as far as killing them but still wants to help her brother, but makes it look like she's the villain. But, she isn't.

    Doesn't anyone find it weird that in all 2 of The Incredibles movies, every villain, major and miner, have no superpowers? Syndrome didn't have superpowers, The Underminer didn't have superpowers, Screenslaver also didn't have any superpowers. I think it would've been really interesting if the villain in The Incredibles 2 was a former super that turned on the people she once swore to protect because she sacrificed everything for the city, only for a law to be made that outlawed her and everyone like her. They wouldn't even need to change much, just make the Screenslaver be able to mind control people with powers instead of tech and change the backstory to match the character.

    For me, the problem with Evelyn Deavor (Screenslaver) is that her motivation seems to conflict with her actions. She doesn't want heroes to come back but she helps her brother to bring them back. I get that it's for the twist but, we don't see any hints of villainy or shadiness from her, outside of her talk with Elastigirl about society, until she reveals herself in the third act. Not mention her reason for hating supers makes no sense. She hates them because her dad decided to call supers for help during a burglary but was killed, because supers were just outlawed. Why is she upset at them? It's not their fault he died. The supers were forced by the government to go into hiding and her father didn't know that so that's why he called. Even then, it was his choice not to call the police. I beat that if he called the cops instead, she'd probably be upset at them and not supers.

    • @FranciscoPetrucioJunior

      She was mad because her father trusted supers more than he trusted himself. Understand this: she believes people have blind trust in supers. Her father, despite having a godanm secret room, chose to try and call heroes that he knew were illegal. And about her helping her brother: her brother had money, influence, and a growing social support. Even if she didn't help him, he'd eventually succeed. She was just making sure he (and no one for that matter) was going to be able to do that

    Yes they attack us sometimes, and yes, sometimes, *very rarely* they do actually eat a human being. But it’s actually very rare for an attack to happen, let alone it be a predatory attack. Bears are more likely to run away from a person and just want to be left alone.

    Francesco is less of a villain and more of a rival or opponent that taunts mcqueen. I found there back and forth pretty interesting honestly as even though they resort to those kind of remarks, he still does things fairly in order of sportsmanship. Too bad he wasnt the main focus as a "villain" and that the rest of the movie was terrible

    No offense but Al McWiggin from Toy Story 2 is not the only human Toy Story Villian because isn't Sid from the first Toy Story film a human as well (I still love Pixar)

    Screenslaver is such a dumbass villain. Like, her motivations dont make sense, she blames superheroes for her father's death, but like, her dad was the one that wanted to be saved by heroes, he died bc they were outlawed by the government. They should have put like, her dad had an argument with a hero and the hero killed him or smth

    Evelyn is an idiot. She wanted the superheroes to be illegal, BUT THEY ALREADY ARE??? What was the point of all she did? Incredibles 2 was such an undercooked piece it hurts

    I would suggest ranking the Walt Disney Animation Studios villains next, but 1 - that would take such a long time to make, and 2 - you already made your top 5 best and worst of them.

    Here's another clue that hints that Axelrod wasn't electric And that's the fact that he is 2010 Land Rover Which at the time there weren't any electric Land Rovers
