Aye bro just work on it. Use to be just like you but I worked on it. Focus on bounce and key. I don’t do crazy stuff with it, most notes I used was only 4, put to much and it sounds trash. You can start with playing a kick and change to an 808 and slightly change notes.

If I have the Roland 808 VST, can I just use that, I mean - do I still need the samples from all around the place even if I have the "real thing"? They say it's the exact clone of the original 808
Yeah u can use your Roland. Only difference with other 808s is that they use distortion on their 808s. Roland is pure. If u wanna spice up your Roland, just add some distortion and or compression/limiter
