Thank you so much for this informative video! I’m really happy to find your channel with an emphasis of naturally healing a disc injury. For almost 3 months, I’ve had significant sciatic pain in my buttock and down my leg, especially affecting my knee-and oddly enough, I’ve had no back pain at all. I’ve been improving slowly and I feel ready to do some exercise therapy, but have been unsure what to do. I’m very motivated to find an effective natural treatment, and I really appreciate your approach of balancing muscle strength. As a retired massage therapist, this makes so much sense to me! I can’t wait to check out your other videos.

If a herniated disc is fixed by a discectomy, should the same exercise be avoided after the repair has been done
So the back is never completely normal is that right?

Some of those same bad exercises were ones prescribed to me at a national PT chain store I signed up with. I quit them after a month. (Plus my annual medicare coverage ran out.) A Teter inversion table helped more than anything so far. Ruptured disc lifting weights 50 yrs ago. Didn't get in the way too much till I turned 66. Had a sciatica attack 3 yrs ago, but pretty much healed up in 3 months. Had another attack last year but it's taken a year to heal up, but now I have constant numbness in my right big toe, and sometimes my whole right foot, especially if i go golfing or walking on sidewalks. Plus the herniated disc hurts pretty much constantly. Can't lift anything over 20lbs without increasing disc pain. Tried a spinal cortisone shot. That was the most painful thing ever. And it did absolutely nothing!
I wish more Physical Therapists were as welled trained, while using common sense as you are. I may try your 28 day program. Is it something I can always come back too? No pun intended 😊. Or does it disappear after a time?

Hey I agree 💯% on the back shots and I get awful pain clear around my lower waist for hrs after the shot itself. I won’t have one again. I’ve had two. First helped second one did nothing, just more pain! 👍🏻

I can't do anything but confirm what you are saying. Doesn't matter if I sit on my bike or take long walks: my already strong lower back muscles stay Active what everything else shuts down. On top of that I always carry around a heavy bag or backpack and try to compensate by bending over like an old man just to elongate the back muscles, but I know that this is no solution. I have gotten quite stiff in my overall spine and tried many mobility exercises but I end up stiffer than before. i used to go to the gym and traditionally work out but I had to stop and shift my mindset to cope with pain. I wish I could focus on anything else

Been watchin your site, had my MRI - has right paracentral disc protrusion extending 5 mm posterior and 11 mm in width, Impinging the right lateral recess causing. Mild impingement of the left S1 nerve root. its been 9 wks in this journey. Had my FESI a wk ago. Walks with a cane but still with back tightness, but less leg pain. Still limping and hunched with a cane. Am i going to heal without surgery? Im scared. I have no numbness or ext. or incontinence on bowel and bladder.

Do the Big Three from McGill help or hurt?

I'm wondering the SAME THING! I've read the entire "Back Mechanic" book by Stuart Mcgill. I haven't started the Mcgill big 3 yet though. They seem pretty safe to me, but everyone's pain is different I guess. Hopefully this guy will reply back and give us his thoughts on Stuart Mcgill big 3 😊🙏🏼🙌🏼
