This is the best Cat informational video I've found on RUclips. Long format, tons of information, it contains not only "what" but "why". So, can you add some "how"? Do you have a routine for checking systems daily? How are you performing your Yanmar maintenance and inspection? Can you provide a food prep Do and Don't? Keep it up, and thanks!
These guys don't motor a huge amount, so it's not a big issue. It is pretty unpleasant sleeping over a running diesel, but the only times I've done it it's also been unpleasant because we've been smashing straight upwind into big seas... when over the engines is the least uncomfortable partof the boat.
I'm not a sailor and I don't know how I ended up here but just I watched every minute of this great, informative, entertaining episode that just reminded me how boring my life is ... thank you lol. Cheers guys you have a new subscriber.
@@MacAlex Go explore, hike, camp, travel, maybe someone will take you on board for a trip, lots of opportunities ;) Last time I was out I met a guy who was traveling the world with no vehicle, and no money..
You two are the closest to how I plan on doing things. So many of these sail channels make their lives so much harder than they need to be. You two have it down.
What I love about this video besides the fact that it is quite informative, is the outright enthusiasm by Ashley and Ben for their boat and the life they live. In fact, in binge watching most of their videos, Ashley's and Ben's enthusiasm and wonder for the life they are living and places they visit shines through.
What a loving accomplished couple. It is obvious you are a real partnership and one of my observations to support that is how you allow each other to speak without interruption. That is respect, the foundation of a good relationship. I have been married 52 years and with my best friend since I was 15. (56 years) We are farmers so I know how it is to work together in relative isolation, needing to fix things yourself and helping each other by discussing problems to solve, leading to the making or breaking of a relationship. Health and much happiness to you both on your chosen voyage.
Absolutely outstanding coverage of the SO many topics that prospective cruisers MUST deal with. Don't apologize about the length, is was a wealth of knowledge and advice packed into 42 minutes. Seriously, I've cumulatively watched many hours of vids from other channels that don't pack the info in like you guys did. Awesome job! (need to add an "awesome" counter, lol)
I didn’t really dig you guys at the start but now I’m addicted, you guys won me over, best cruiser channel, no semi naked women, no click bait thumb nails, no semi fake video titles for likes and views. Real world couple and I relate to that, you guys are genuine and I don’t feel that you are all about view numbers which is refreshing. Are your engines diesel? Do you store petrol? Scared of fire?
i am new to your channel. My wife and i reside in W.Tennessee of the USA. I lost my health in my late 30s due to cancer from heavy metal poisoning during a former job. I am battling kidney cancer now and i am in stage 4 of my only remaining kidney. However , I am a very positive person and stay away from negativity to maintain a better immune system! My wife and I love the Salt Life and anything ocean related. we simply love the water. We used to own a condo on Orange Beach Al. but had to sell during my worst health issues. We are planning to revisit the same area around Pensacola Florida in spring of 2019. Like i said i was looking around during the wee hours of typical day and found your channel. this video was so informative! thank you for candidly sharing your life and home on the water. I am soaking up every detail though this is not a current video. You two seem so happy and i think if i were able we would try to do the same thing. We know little about sailing but i am a fast learner and your video was very specific with details. for the time being I am resolved to live my life through the experiences of others and share their views and joys from a fixed location. However seeing your happiness is infectious. I want to be visiting you wherever you are. I plan to subscribe and follow your adventures in the future . I look forward to future videos and sharing in whatever way i can with others the Happiness (through yall) that i find. Music is another huge part of my life. I have played guitar for almost 50 years and still play from my wheelchair. like you do; I set up my ability to do what i love most , by keeping "my toys" close by for any spontaneous desire. Best regards for now . I look forward to catching up on all of your videos and will leave responses often? My name is Art (i am also a retired Professional Artist) we currently reside in West Tn... Enjoy! life is way to short!
Wishing you the best of luck with your health and your dreams. Wondering if you can travel.....If so have you considered taking a sailing charter? A great and inexpensive way to get out and experience the sailing lifestyle. A good charter captain will show you the ropes, teach basics and demonstrate all of the boat systems you care to learn. OR......you simply enjoy a trip and worry about nothing. Personally I would love to sail but currently don't have the resources to own or operate but I am considering taking that charter out of Florida. Would love to take a week or so and hop the Bahamas do some fishing and diving. I will pull the trigger and make it happen sooner or later.
This is a very very good presentation about how they have organised their lives. Really very interesting! I’m nearly 85 now but until about 5 years ago I spent a couple of early spring months every year cycle camping all over Europe! And every year I had about a weeks shake down time where I adjusted to being on my trusty “velo” And just how it is clear that you know your “ship” - so I knew my bike and trailer and knew all the sounds it made. It sounds silly just saying that on here but it is undoubtably a real truth. Even when toiling in adverse conditions I knew when things were under control and my bike was “happy”. And by golly I really looked after my velo and it never let me down - that being said I made sure before setting off on my annual journeys that it was newly serviced (by me), and while travelling I always did an evening mini service after setting up camp and getting my meal cooking. It is quite true that I was aware of the sounds my bike made - I certainly knew when it was travelling well but also when it was under some difficulty -- that sort of event would nearly always resulted in an extra days stop over to give it a lot of tlc!! I really enjoyed this vlog. Tkx a lot!
This has got to be one of the best boat tours on RUclips. So much positive energy from the two of you. I check your website now and then to see your location. Bon voyage.
I have been contemplating this sort of thing for a while, now it will be another 18 years because we just adopted a little baby. I will still do this as long as I am healthy and able. I watch tons of these type of videos and yours is the only one I watched all the way through and even went back through parts. Very detailed even about the little things no one talks about. Thanks for such a great video.
OMG halfway through the video i realized how much stuff needs to be considered when planning to embark on a journey like yours. I admire and respect these guys so much.
I just discovered you both....i'm blown away and really excited about the way you think and go into so much detail. I would like to say thank you so much for sharing, you make things seem like dreams can be achieved for the average Joe!! You two are super AWESOME!!! Happy adventuring.........
Great, comprehensive and fun to watch to videos! Working towards a Lagoon 420 owners version, each second of your videos is fantastic. Love you guys! Federico
I really enjoyed your review! We cruised the Caribbean for 3 years on the original 410 owners version. My 2 cents: We had a 7KW genset, 1200AH battery bank 500W solar array, and 40GPH watermaker (watercraft). Watermaker was old school with no gadgetry (auto backflush etc). Bring it up to pressure yourself, watching the guage and listening to the genset as the 2HP motor loaded up. I wouldn't have it any other way. We made thousands of gallons of water with it and it worked flawlessly. I am not a fan of the 12volt based systems. We stayed with the stock setup of fridge and freezer and running dual danfoss compressors. Refrigeration was 95% of our energy consumption and even with the solar array we had, still have to average an hour of genset time everyday. If we were still out, I would rebuild the refrigeration system. Every happy hour usually distills down to refrigeration discussions. I liked the 7kw genset - it was not oversized and could do almost all the tasks required (charge battery and make water or charge battery and run some AC for a while before going to bed if there was no wind) - you couldn't do all 3 though and generally never needed to. The AC wiring from genset to battery charger HAS TO be properly sized based on the length of the run (somebody installed incorrect gauge wire that was on the verge of causing a fire) - many people don't understand the run is twice the distance from the genset to battery charger which in our case was about 60ft with genset in front and charger in the after port sugar scoop). We launched our anchor from the lazerette and think I prefer this to the track on top of the tramp. The only issue was not to let go of the bridal when connecting/disconnecting from the chain (its draped on the underside of the tramp and you either have to swim or get the dingy to run it under). Would love to have a bowsprit and dedicated furler for downwind sail. We had spinnaker with sock which worked really well. Would also have like a spinnaker pole but made do without it. The 410 does not have backstays (only backswept side stays) - this arrangement is at risk of pulling the mast down. I was concerned enough about it that we upgraded the size of our topping lift line - so when flying the spinnaker we would align the boom with the wind, tighten up on the mainsheet/topping lift - a jury rigged running backstay... I agree upwind performance on this boat is lackluster - you need daggers if you want to sail a cat upwind. We had 12ft AB rib with 25HP 2 stroke and this was the bomb. Would buy another AB again in a heatbeat. Not a fan of aluminium bottoms unless they are unpainted. Saw lots of issues with the powder coating delaminating from the aluminum - presto no RIB. We had laundry as well and would do that again in a heartbeat. We never used the dryer part (no power for that) but saved hundreds of dollars in laundry compared to fellow cruisers who were getting it done ashore (sometimes paying $15 or $20 for a load!). Nice to have clean sheets every 45 or 6 days when cruising in the tropics. You need a decent watermaker to support this type of infrastructure. You quickly learn that any comfort added to the boat has some energy implication that has to be managed or considered - its all inter-related. For the new cruisers, this is difficult to sort out because you really only learn this stuff when you get out there. Our energy system was setup by the previous owners during their 6 years of cruising so they had a good understanding of what was required to make it work. The boat came with a Fischer Panda 8kw generator which caused us nothing but problems at the start of our cruise so I bit the bullet and installed a brand new Norpro with sound shield (in forward port lazerette which is where the watermaker was installed as well - and it was whisper quiet - to the point we sometimes forgot it was running). The Norpro came with a 5 year warranty but the company was having financial issues back in 2012. Not sure if they are still in business. We did have some issues with the charge system getting the excite voltage which has to happen to get it to charge... never really resolved that one and it was one of those pesky transient problems that are very hard to diagnose). I did figure out how to manually excite it with 12v when it did happen though. I would do northern lights 2nd time around... easy to get parts and service than most others. Do not buy Fischer Panda! Way to complicated. Our solar panel mount was similar to yours but also articulated so we could follow the sun into sunset - a very nice feature. 1200 amp hour battery bank = 12-6V golf cart batteries. New battery technology is super exciting and you can now get away with half the bank with deep discharge you can do on the new battery systems. 600 AH capacity was about right for our boat and with a better refrigeration system, I think we could have run a net 0 energy program based just on solar. Not sure I would waste my time with wind generator. Dangerous, noisy and you can't get a whole lot of current out of them - put that cash into more or higher quality solar panels - that's where its at. We had 3KW Xantrex inverter / charger. This worked ok but this is one component I would go with higher quality (ie. magnum). Also good to have a secondary backup battery charger for some redundancy. Lose your abiltity to charge and you soon realize how serious the situation is - especially when you risk losing 4 months of cherished steaks etc. in your freezer that cannot be replaced on a whim. Wish the 410 had bigger fuel tanks - 25 gals per side is just not enough fuel so always carrying extra in jerry jugs which is a PITA. The forward garages are super functional - we had one as smelly side for diesel and the other for sails and water toys. I was 42 when we started cruising (wife and then 14 year old son). We did it for 3 years then came back to work. 9-5 sucks and putting a plan back into action for early retirement in 3 years and return to the sea. Looking forward to setting up my next cruising platform - it will either be a catamaran or full displacement trawler.
so young and vibrant and full of energy you guys are, makes me want to get up and clean the house. thanks for the video, great advice for anyone that will be blue-watering in a cat. Stay young and never grow old and you'll be able to sail to every passage in the world. thanks again for sharing a little slice of Nahoa.
By far, the best overall tour of a cruising catamaran I've watched on youtube! It covers all of the major systems on the boat and is presented as a nice "welcome to our home" video by the couple. We are just starting our adventure and we're looking for as much info as we can get and this hit he spot. Thank you Sailing Nahoa for a very helpful, very entertaining, very enlightening view of you home on the water.
We were vacationing in Virginia Beach last year and met a couple who had just purchased a Prout catamaran and are going to sail her around the world like you guys. Her name is Ohanna and if in your travels you pass her tell them that the Ryan family says ahoy! We actually got a tour of their boat in person much like this tour of yours. We had a wonderful dinner with them and it was a privilege to meet someone who is so adventurous. They are both retired from the United States Navy.
When I saw your video clock in at 42:31 I said "... whoa, I've got to reheat last night's pizza and grab a generous pour of some better-than-average vino and settle into the biggest chair I can find". Thanks so much for the tour of your amazing home! I can see why you love being aboard. Continued good luck with your sailing adventures -- I look forward to the next episode aboard NAHOA.
Wow. I don't know why I ended up here, but I'm hooked and I love these videos, informative and ignites dreams of travelling around the world. you're living the life of being free. Keep it up guys and be safe always. I will be following your videos.
I'm 59 years old . . . have "never" sailed / boated in my life, and I can't tell you how much this lifestyle is resonating with me at this stage of my life. Thank you for sharing! I can feel how much you enjoy sailing and the life it affords.
I'm the first person to critique overly-long videos, but yours is chock full of useful experience, observations and advice. You did a thorough job editing out dead air and kept things focused on what people like me want to and need to know. Thank you!
FANTASTIC TOUR!!! The absolute BEST one of these I have ever seen!! Soon after they started sailing the Wynns produced about a 45 minute video "Meet CURIOSITY--A Full Tour of our Sailing Catamaran". Until I just saw your video, that was the best of these. But yours somehow includes more rationale and much more nuts and bolts - very informative. The Wynns were then very new to sailing & cruising and you two have been cruising for years. By the way, they too swear by "Just Catamarans". You have rebuilt your Lagoon to suite your particular needs, wants and whims. The joy you have in showing us your customized floating home is easily evident. You have done extremely well working with the boat you have come to love, making it an effective tool for your life style - even a member of your family. May those trade winds always be off the beam or your stern!
Oh my goodness you two are so cool and so cute. I have watched a lot of sailors and they are so annoying but you two are lovely, informative, honest and I love the way you interact with each other. Thank you xx
Wow Wow, I hardly ever watch a full youtube vid.........this is an exception I am glued to to the screen absorbing your narrative in such a sophisticated kind and professional way , trying to absorb every thing you both say and show and describe..........just the sowing alone WOW thats amazing .........all the equipment, just stunning, ya'll are so devoted .....................sorry I am just going to have to follow each and every show you have. I have experienced seas through the cooks in various decrepit old boats, there were some harrowing situations, funnily enough these are the ones you remember. The nearest thing I have to the sea now is my dirt bike on the beach and swimming in the summer. Thank you again
Hi I am Mimmo from London , I watched most of your videos I really salut you for the videos you posted on RUclips , , there’s nothing better than travelling & you can tell how happy you’re on camera ; you really make me jealous I also started thinking to sell all I have and get a catamaran and travel the world , 1000 thank you to you both please keep us posted . Mimmo
Thank you, learned a lot, not only about your boat, but also the many systems you rely on. We are about to start on our Catamaran journey and you both, Ben and Ash have definitely educated us. By the way, we are using Just Catamaran as well (Thanks for the tip).
Ben always talks so much sense! You two are the best YT Sailing Vloggers. Always enjoy your posts as the content is the best, most interesting and real!!
I developed an "AWESOME" drinking game, everytime you said it, I drank. I was hammered in the first 5 minutes and have never, ever seen the entire video!!! haha
Dream Team - your skill set is excellent and that includes making really nice videos. Forty two minutes of pure bliss. Thanks. You've put together a superb dream home on the water. So impressive, quality couple.
Sailing Nahoa Seriously, I am impressed. Yachting channels should take some hints from y’all. Its so nice to actually see folks who take the time to go through the specs, rather than just here’s the sleeping quarters, here’s the bathroom, here’s the tramp, here’s the locker 😂
I'm just in awe of people just taking off and sailing around the world and living in their boats. I know you talked about your kitchen appliances but I recommend getting and Instant Pot pressure cooker too. Saves time, energy and you can do anything in them. I love mine and I have two of them. I know people take them on their boats and use them all the time.
Excellent presentation guys. You may want to add that you might make 8kn while a monohull in the same wind is doing 4kn therefore you will arrive at your destination a lot sooner and avoid some bad weather the monohull has to tackle. Something similar happened to Delos on the Indian Ocean travelling to Africa.
Stevie FordRanger + I remember that vid and Delos plowing through that storm but I wasn't under the impression it was because they made bad timing or misread the weather. I think it was more about some unexpected weather creeping up on them that wasn't supposed to be there. The nice part of that is Brian is a very accomplished sailor and keeps his cool. He and Brady made some great decisions during that storm. Worse case scenario they could have hove to and rode it out in a boat that big. As the saying goes..you will break before your boat will. PEACE OUT! Ü
Butterfly Massacre . Sorry mate, but nope, no Lagoon can get anywhere close to 30 knots. They can for short times surf close to 20, but that’s it. I’ve been racing all kinds of boats since the seventies, mainly on multihulls the last 30 years, some years as a full time job in the extreme classes. I do know what fast sailing is. I’ve also done quite a bit of long distance cruising. No real cruising boat is fast, mono or multi, but the main trouble in comparing is that most people compare apples to peanuts, or something else completely random. The Lagoons are extremely comfortable and spacious boats for their length. To get the same in a mono, you need probably a 60 footer. A 60 foot cruising mono is at least as fast as the 41 Lagoon, probably faster. On the other hand, a 60 mono also costs way more to buy, to keep and to put in the harbour. Lagoons and most other cruising cats are motor sailors, while mono cruisers tend to be slightly more towards performance cruisers, which can bee seen in the rigging and other issues. Still, the cruising cats do go a bit faster than the same length monos in normal cruising conditions. The difference is not dramatic, but can of course be important some times. The huge difference that really matters is in comfort. The absence of heel and the more pleasant motions makes life incredibly much nicer on a cat. Then again, if comparing to the mono with the same space inside, the difference gets less. Bottom line might be, comparing cats and monos of similar length is rubbish. Comparing with boats with the same interior space also is somewhat wrong. Comparing boats of similar price and age is more fair. Then one might find that speed over all is about the same, space inside the cat will have more, the mono will be considerably longer, price in harbour will be equal, the cat will be able to go more places because it’s draft is around 1 metre/3 feet while the mono is 2,5 to 3 times as deep. The big winner for cruising will still be the cat, because of the one already mentioned item that is still massively better than on a longer mono: Comfortable living while at sea or at anchor. No heel. No rolling. No life down in the basement.
Great video guys . Love your work. We have had 2 different cats and spent 5.1/2 years live aboard. The second cat we had was a 2004 410s2 Owners version. Just sold it. Was set up almost the same as yours. Don't know if you have them or not, but we got plastic tubs to fit the fridge shelves (as it's so deep) this kept the fridge door open less and less cold air fell out when opening. We have just sold the Lagoon. It sailed better than I thought (we had a good code 0 a spinnaker folding props etc.) but I never got use to the creaking of the cupboards etc. and found it difficult to sleep inside on long passages and the slamming where the beds stick out under the bridge deck next to the escape hatches drove me nuts on passage. Otherwise I loved the 410 When you come to Australia and if you get down to the Gold Coast. Come say 👋 P.S. While boat less for awhile you vids keep the flame alive.
We wish we had folding props! That would give us almost another knot under sail. Some day...we don’t notice the creaking much anymore. But yes, she does talk to us under sail. And I suppose complain loudly when it gets really rough! Haha
@@SailingNahoa I highly recommend Kiwiprops. I put them on my Leopard while we were hauled in in NZ last year. They were 3000 USD for the pair and an impressive amount of spares. I love them. Totally changed our light weather sailing game.
I never thought about sailing during my life, but the last year I’ve been watching 2 other channels about life sailing full time. I’ve just started watching y’all a week ago. You guys have a great life! I’m a new subscriber. I’m enjoying your videos!
This was the first video my wife and I have watched 4 years ago and we have been watching the evolution of your channel since then with all the trials and tribulations! Keep on keeping on!! My favourite video is the next one in the cue Fulanga Fiji. That isn’t the correct way of spelling but it’s close enough!!
Thank you for this outstanding, packed full of great meaningful, thoughtful, very much needed information! We are looking to learn to sail and make the transition to full time once financially able. We have been downsizing our home for years and working all of that out to be adjusted easily to having only needed things but not all the clutter. Love cats and looking to find affordability. We will be sailing The Caribbean mostly as we love all things tropics! We are researching and planning to make sure we can do it in shorter order. Thank you for all of the awesome information!👍😌
I only wish I could give you 100 likes for this vid!!! What a great vid with so much info. YOU GUYS ROCK! I'd sail with the two of you any day!!! You're knowledgeable, safe and have oodles of common sense! BTW...I'm still not 100% clear on the differences of a Code Ø and a Spinnaker! THANKS! PEACE OUT!
Ah that's a great question. Maybe we need to do a sail episode some day. Spinnakers are purely for going down wind. Code zero can also go down wind but you can sheet it in to sail closer to the wind. Plus, you can have it on a furler which is a huge bonus when short crew (can be hard to get a spin down if the wind picks up)
Hi Ben..That's always been my thoughts on the spinnaker. Up...down...up...down as the wind changes. NO THANK YOU! Like sailing isn't hard enough. I like that your Code Ø is on a furler! And yes...I would love, love, love to see an episode on sails being put up and down and what purpose they serve. THANKS! PEACE OUT! Ü
Hi Ashley and Ben, Hello from White Rock! Thanks for giving such a detailed overview of your cat's systems. We are strongly considering becoming world cruisers but it will likely be almost two years before it can happen, all things considered. Your vids are not only entertaining but very helpful as we learn about issues we hadn't yet thought about. Thanks for all the work you do to put these videos together - we know it takes a lot of effort. Just love your smiles! "Awesome".
like everyone who came across this.. loved the video and the format, tonns of good information. the primary reason it is sooo very pleasant to watch.. you didnt cram 400db of seyt music overriding your voices and tempo like 99% of you tube warriors do.. so thank you for that! sweet vid and you guys show what love is for life and each other.. all props..
Hi - that was a really informative video so thanks for taking the time to film and edit it. It was one of the best I've seen - I love gadgets but understand the need for ease of repair so that was a good balance. I don't know if you have any commercial sponsorships but it would be helpful if you could name-drop a little when it comes to reliable equipment. One question I wondered about was your batteries are fairly close to the engines - did you have any issue with heat from the engines and if so, how did you solve it? Cheers and thanks again.
I know you said rode in the anchor portion and mentioned you never use it - many watching have no idea why you need all that chain and even what rode is. What a great presentation! Watching you guys vicariously!
Really great video, thanks so much, some great information. I really like sailing catamarans also and I may not be working towards doing a circumnavigation I do want to do the Pacific circle. Right now I rent both Cats and Mono's but my main concern is trying to purchase a Cat which is what I want to do, just don't see myself with enough funds to buy a decent Cat, and I do not want to spend a year fixing someone else catastrophe. Your boat looks great! I also like the idea of in the engines inside, I will be looking for something similar if possible!
For someone in cat live aboard cruising research mode, this was a great video. I have created a new playlist called VERY USEFUL. This is the first video to be saved there. Thanks
Every boat tour on YT: "And here's our anchor, of course you can't see it because it's holding us in place right now..... But it's great!" I'm starting to think that anchors are actually a myth, just like Finland
Amazing amazing. How nice it is to get so much great information. For those of us who are still a year to 18 months away, this answered so many questions. Boaters sailing adventures are fascinating....but getting first hand information about the yeses and no and the do's and don'ts is priceless. Great video...great editing...thanks for sharing.
OK, I don't usually comment because I am so new to long term sailing. I WILL be purchasing my first Ocean cat this summer and hence I have been watching everything I can get my hands on. This is the very best, most informative video I have seen yet. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this and help put out such great info. I REALLY appreciate it. I have narrowed my search down to a Lagoon. Either a 42, 420, or 421, primarily because of the shower and layout situation. Your video here helped confirm that decision. Again, I really appreciate your help and hopefully you are still sailing in a year or so and we can bump into each other on the water. I will sailing alone, plus my puppies, so some great conversation will be appreciated. If I have questions is it OK to send them to you through this videos or some other means as you are both so helpful. BTW, I am from the states working in Manitoba and holy smokes is it cold up here. No wonder you left to go sailing. Blessings
I stumbled across you video looking for something else and I have to tell you it was great. Not only informative, but I thoroughly enjoyed the positive attitude sprinkled with smiles that added to a quality video. You folks are awesome!
l jus luv watchin yall, impressive... onthebeaches1 had a question about code zero&spinnaker, you mentioned a possible sail episode? l vote a resounding yes on the sail episode... (;-)
So I got directed to this video and it's talking about your raft and how you want a larger raft. This is after seeing your return to Nahoa and finding all the changes on board. I'm happy for your return but you got loads of work ahead and I enjoy your enthusiasm as you approach it. Boats that sit the sun 🌞 isn't friendly too, so just do your best!
I really love to watch the tour from in and out of your BEAUTIFUL NAHOA CATAMARAN SAILING BOAT,THANKS A LOT GUYS AND ALWAYS HAVING A SAFE TOUR AND NAVIGATION
Thanks guys. I wish (just like yall) I would of dine things differently when I sold my house. The next time I get another opportunity - I want one of these boats and sail around the world!! U guys + others gave me much inspiration. Congrats on all the new profound happiness and new fam addition that was made from sea love ❤️
WOW...YEESSS! This was the video I was asking for a few videos back and here it is. I really enjoyed this video a lot. The information I would say is a "LIFE SAVING" because it shows what one needs to be prepared for specially if one is going on such a journey. You guys hit every important point. I was blown away with the amount of space. My respects to you both. And I didn't mind this long video at all. Very entertaining. Please stay safe. Safe travels. On to the next video. Loving it!😊
Tons of questions here! Don't Stop! Keep posting your questions and we'll answer them in the next 'How To'. Ok, GO!
When you have the engines running, does the heat from the engines effect the bedroom? Is the noise/vibrations bothersome if sleeping?
These guys don't motor a huge amount, so it's not a big issue. It is pretty unpleasant sleeping over a running diesel, but the only times I've done it it's also been unpleasant because we've been smashing straight upwind into big seas... when over the engines is the least uncomfortable partof the boat.
You didn't mention air conditioning.
Incredibly edited/organized sailing video. Kudos
I'm not a sailor and I don't know how I ended up here but just I watched every minute of this great, informative, entertaining episode that just reminded me how boring my life is ... thank you lol. Cheers guys you have a new subscriber.
Hahaha. We are having a good chuckle over here laying in our cockpit. Welcome aboard. 😂
Hahahahaha!
I'm thinking the same not a sailor and watched every thing, and see that my live is boring.
@@MacAlex Go explore, hike, camp, travel, maybe someone will take you on board for a trip, lots of opportunities ;)

Kent + I totally concur!
Totally agree Kent. This was outstanding.
Very informative coverage, thank you!
I wish you all the best, buddy.
@@19midnightsun87 thank you so much. we all are going through something.im just carrying my own cross. your kind words mean a lot.
@@angelsspirit335 May you somehow recover n live a long healthy life bro.
@@Gentleman2019 thank you kindly
You can feel the energy they radiate, the happiness of living their dream. Such beautiful people and a gorgeous boat.
This couple is by far my wife and I favorite boat show...these guys truly do a fantastic job!
This is a very very good presentation about how they have organised their lives. Really very interesting!
I’m nearly 85 now but until about 5 years ago I spent a couple of early spring months every year cycle camping all over Europe! And every year I had about a weeks shake down time where I adjusted to being on my trusty “velo”
And just how it is clear that you know your “ship” - so I knew my bike and trailer and knew all the sounds it made.
Bon voyage.
I agree, informative, fun, and they never stumbled on a word, they are both very clear speakers.
I officially want this boat! This is the most perfect layout I've ever seen!
OMG halfway through the video i realized how much stuff needs to be considered when planning to embark on a journey like yours. I admire and respect these guys so much.
I’m so impressed how tidy everything is! What a job getting everything back together! Great job done...all with two little ones! 😃
I’d love an updated tour
I just discovered you both....i'm blown away and really excited about the way you think and go into so much detail. I would like to say thank you so much for sharing, you make things seem like dreams can be achieved for the average Joe!! You two are super AWESOME!!! Happy adventuring.........
I love how happy you guys are. Living the dream.
Great, comprehensive and fun to watch to videos!
Working towards a Lagoon 420 owners version, each second of your videos is fantastic.
Love you guys!
Federico
I really enjoyed your review! We cruised the Caribbean for 3 years on the original 410 owners version. My 2 cents:
We had a 7KW genset, 1200AH battery bank 500W solar array, and 40GPH watermaker (watercraft).
Haha. Yah...it's a looong one! Hope the vino was good 🍻 🍷
you guys are awesome ! great videos !
What a wonderful couple. Great video, thanks for taking the time to make the video and giving us a tour!
Wow. I don't know why I ended up here, but I'm hooked and I love these videos, informative and ignites dreams of travelling around the world. you're living the life of being free. Keep it up guys and be safe always. I will be following your videos.
Same here. Their videos really are inspiring.
That was an awesome 42:30. Loved it and as always you guys are super fun to watch.... Many thanks and best from HKG
Your living a dream I had 40 years ago. I have been following your journey for the last year best of wishes!
As far as boat tour videos goes, that one was epic... nice!
Dude your friend is like the perfect combo of a mother figure and a wife. Go for it!
Thank you for the tour. Your boat I Awesome. Your my favorite sailing channel and the only one I actually share.
Oh my goodness you two are so cool and so cute. I have watched a lot of sailors and they are so annoying but you two are lovely, informative, honest and I love the way you interact with each other. Thank you xx
Best boat tour on RUclips
Well thank you! That's very kind of you.
We are about to start on our Catamaran journey
and you both, Ben and Ash have definitely educated us.
She'll be back in no time. You probably already have her cleaned up great.
You guys-I’m a sailor and paddler and I am absolutely in awe of the detail in this video! Wow! This is just all around great content.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for sharing your home. Great video, wish I could give it more than one thumbs up.
Stein Varjord How does the trimaran like the Neel 50 figure? It seems comfort plus speed?
totally flabbergasted at what you have done and that you've stayed positive beyond words.
Great video guys
. Love your work.
We have had 2 different cats and spent 5.1/2 years live aboard. The second cat we had was a 2004 410s2
Owners version.
Otherwise I loved the 410
When you come to Australia and if you get down to the Gold Coast. Come say 👋
I’m enjoying your videos!
just found out about y'all at 75k subscribers and y'all are blowing uo love the channel!!!!!
You are a pleasure to watch as you have a laid back ,warm delivery.. A real life adventure with no pretensions.
Your videos are very inspiring. I enjoy watching them.
I absolutely love that you use the word Saloon and not Salon. Will give my thumbs up for this vid, thanks once again
Ahh a boat tour the Nahoa way! Priceless! Thanks guys 👍 soooo useful when you’re doing research 👍
Wow, you guys are awesome team Nahoa. I hope to see you on the island of Atiu in the Cook Islands some day. Love your work
I only wish I could give you 100 likes for this vid!!!
"Awesome".
What a bloody brilliant video , and as usual the lady can talk the legs off a bed ,but loved it , very informative , well done guys
like everyone who came across this.. loved the video and the format, tonns of good information. the primary reason it is sooo very pleasant to watch.. you didnt cram 400db of seyt music overriding your voices and tempo like 99% of you tube warriors do.. so thank you for that! sweet vid and you guys show what love is for life and each other.. all props..
Loved the REAL tour , Your Smiles are Contagious ... it`s Beer Time.
So nice, that you are sailing with your mum!
She would be proud, not many sons would sail around the world with their mums!!
Well done!
Can't afford it but fun watching you guys....
Thanks I have learned more about sailing from watching your videos than any other channel, I totally appreciate it
Hi - that was a really informative video so thanks for taking the time to film and edit it.
I know you said rode in the anchor portion and mentioned you never use it -
many watching have no idea why you need all that chain and even what rode is.
Hello sir, do you prefer Catamarans or Monohulls, for example in terms of easiness to sail? Regards
For someone in cat live aboard cruising research mode, this was a great video. I have created a new playlist called VERY USEFUL. This is the first video to be saved there. Thanks
Every boat tour on YT: "And here's our anchor, of course you can't see it because it's holding us in place right now..... But it's great!"
I'm starting to think that anchors are actually a myth, just like Finland
You guys are the best on Utube thanks.
Very good, good job, excepted well, enjoy your tour, thank you very much. 👍😃🤙
Did you have to bring your washing machine down in pieces to fit it through those small doors?
Probably
You answered a lot of questions I had as a female living aboard a boat full time. Thank you for a great video.
Excellent tour and commentary!
This is the most enjoyable 42.30 minute i have seen. Awesome guys, thanks, super informative. Love it. Keep up the good work.
Thank you this was awesome you're an inspiration.
Blessings
I've been following you guys. I just want to ask how much did you pay for your boat? Im so inspired by your videos
I stumbled across you video looking for something else and I have to tell you it was great. Not only informative, but I thoroughly enjoyed the positive attitude sprinkled with smiles that added to a quality video. You folks are awesome!
Welcome aboard!
l jus luv watchin yall, impressive... onthebeaches1 had a question about code zero&spinnaker, you mentioned a possible sail episode? l vote a resounding yes on the sail episode...
Loved this video..

A parasailor is a lot more versatile than the classical spinnaker.
Loving it!😊
"On a plane" means "up on step;" nothing to do with airplanes.

You have really done a great job fitting and refitting out your 410. Probably one of the best around.
