      he's a smart rider, but he doesn't have the seasonal stamina like pogs, at least, I'm waiting to see it, so pogs number 1

      Neither was Tadej in 2023, but who talks about that? Vingegaard had far more time to recover in 2024 than Tadej had to recover in 2023, even though Jonas's injuries were worse.

    Awesome TDF with two legends in the making. Although i was expecting Jonas to attack more instead of mostly defending after that early stages that gave him a minute. The next TT and stage 17 are going to be decisive i believe.

      Jonas knows that he can't battle pogi directly in only one mountain, he needs to use multiple mountains to broke pogi in each climb a little bit

      But to be fair, they are... they are both waaayy better then the rest of the field. The beginning Tadej looked stronger. Now Jonas is stronger.

      They’re not. At least not in Tour de France or any other Grand Tours. As much as I don’t want to say it, Jonas got a but better build for Grand Tours, and he will win all 3 Grand Tours in his career. Whilst Pogi, he is much more balanced and will win something in every aspect of Road Cycling, such as Monuments (Liege - Bastogne - Liege, Il Lombardia x2, Tour of Flanders), Stage Races (UAE Tour x2, Tirreno - Adriatico x2, Paris - Nice), and Grand Tours (Tour de France x2)
      This shows that he can basically win everything, but he can win nothing when there is a super specialist in play.

      Yeah. He backed off at the last second to let him take the stage. You can see him flick his arm as to say “go ahead.” It’s bad form when in yellow unless the other guy is clearly way behind.

    Vingegaard could easily follow him today. Pocagar need to ride an amazing TT otherwise Vingegaard stay's in Yellow. I'm Vingegaard fan so i hope Vingegaard is in Yellow in paris. But Pocagar is so strong also. So 50/50

    Today on June 16. 2024 after Stage 16 of the Tour, Pogacar is ahead of Vingegaard with 3 Minutes 9 Secs. It looks good for Tadej .

    The reason the difference is so Big now is prob cause pogis limit is just lower than vibgegaards theoughout the whole race jumbos tempo has probably been a bit to High for pogacar which showed on stage 17.
    Had he gone in his own tempo it would be closer now but it would never have looked close cause his Max is lower than Jonas’

    I don’t really understand the rules of Tour de France, but can anyone explain to me why did Vingegaard slow down at the very end instead of trying to cross the finish line ahead of Pogacar?

      Because he didn’t need to or care about winning. To him it’s all about overall time, not stage wins necessarily.

      @@robobek he’s just trying to stay with Pogacar and not lose any time if possible or limit time lost. Especially at that point in the race from that clip Pogacar was only 10 seconds behind after he had been consistently taking some seconds back a bit at a time. Jonas stepped it up after that and stayed with Pogacar until the time trial and we know the rest is history.

      Just fair play and chivalry. In cycling, the rider in the front needs to push much harder than the one who is following.
      Vingegaard tried to break Pogacar at the curve, but once he saw that Pogacar is right behind him, he decided to give the victory to Pogacar. This is why Pogacar was not celebrating.
      Excellent characters, both of them.

    I’ve always been told that the bike matters. So for example these two somewhat has equall power and skills, would someone be slower if they were riding an alloy or titanium bike?

      The bikes are a big part of it, especially over such long durations and distances. Every aspect of the rider and gear need to be in optimal condition.
