Awesome video. Im glad you took the Duffy on the way back and opted out of pulling the trailer. That would have been a whole different video. You were very brave stopping on the one lane rock slide area outside of Lillooet . That spot scares the crap out of me. Looking forward to your next adventure.

Liked this video Mat. Would be interested to know the cost of the charging on each leg of the trip, with and without the trailer. Cheers

The issue as stated is infrastructure ! Those Petro Canada chargers should charge up 350kw but I've heard often most are barely half that.
I know the roads you drove, I'm a trucker and the hummer did well.

Great video! I love the real life experience traveling with this vehicle. What did it cost you to charge for this trip?

The unreliability & inconsistency of CCS chargers is why NACS is being selected as the defacto standard going forward.
Only suggestion would have been to show your average charging speed (kW) on screen for each charge.

I can see a company like airstream installing batteries in the trailer to extend the range for towing

Charging would be a lot faster if you didnt charge to 100%. The last 15% goes very slow.

Did you use the setting in the Truck to condition the battery to EV Charging? And for the Trailer too? The EV Hummer has all that ready for you for L2 Charging

You don't charge to 100% on the road. It's not a gasoline vehicle. You charge to 80% much quicker.

I have a thought. So I’m not an engineer or electrician so just throwing this idea out there. Is it possible for car manufacturers to develop the roof as a solar panel so these EVs so it can charge the batteries while sitting or driving?

Nice video, Mr.Matt. I am from Malaysia. And i so love this car . But unfortunately i only have 165cm tall like a teenage, i am 28 years old. So i only have play some racing game have this hummer ev to enjoy. I am still save money to find another small ev car. Maybe next time my place has fully charging stations to around city and village than to ready buy electric vehicles.

It’s a shame there’s not more 350kW chargers because your charging stops would be 1/3rd as long.

The ev has no way of calculating the load of the trailer to give an accurate battery usage indication , does it?

Hummer Ev is definetly an awesome truck but towing is not its strong suit, seems like a pain to unhook the trailer to charge

  • @OhmmuEnergy

I don't think I understand why these guys think they need to charge to 100% or why they are using these slow chargers instead of a 350kW capable charger like the truck can take (3-4 times the speed of what they are getting)... Oh well, better luck next time, maybe experience will dictate better planning...

  • @timh1187
    @timh1187 Год назад +3

Hahaha so you had to unhook the truck and trailer. Then charge and re connect everything. I wouldn’t drive that thing if it was free.

The Hummer EV itself is pretty cool but towing + charging is definitely not ideal

The charging infrastructure is the problem. Only Tesla provides reliable charging. Every other company that does it sucks.
