I am from Phoenix and currently still reside in Phoenix. I remember as a kid in the late 70's and earlier 80's going to see him play within a 10 minute drive from my house. He had the sweetest jumper. His nickname here in Phoenix that is not being mentioned was "Sweet D".

It was a tough time to follow the Suns. We used to get 2-for-1 coupons for tickets for their games, you and a friend could go watch a game for $15.00. You'd spend more on beer than the ticket. Watching Walter, Alex English and George Gervin back then was a treat, all 3 could fill it up.

He also had Krause attempt to trade for him but Portland offered more just to prevent him from pairing up w/ Jordan. I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Sonics and Blazers fan. Japanese-American. On paper, the Blazers picking him up in 1990-91 looked great. When I saw throwback footage of the Sonics 1978-79 championship season (but also their highlights from their series vs the Suns), I was WOWED by what Walt Davis USED to be able to do. When I was 18 and he became a Blazer, he wasn't a high flier anymore, and I had a diminished view of how good Davis actually was. I KNEW that Hubert Davis would pan out!
