Good question. You can't use an ordinary stock because that would make it a short barreled shotgun, making it subject to all the NFA regulations. The whole reason behind the grip is to allow it to have the 13" barrel. This gun is designed to be extremely compact, and it does that while still being very usable.
I like the concept, but I wouldn't have a contemporary Remington if you gave it to me. I currently have one of these on order, but the manufacturer is Black Aces. I've had the opportunity to test fire one (16 rounds), and I totally understand what is making you smile. These things are a blast, no pun intended. When they're loaded with 00 buck, they will "cave in" a car door; trust me! These things speak with authority, and are a formidable home defense weapon. Me personally, I'd rank it at #2, under my Mossberg 590 Shockwave because A) with an OPSol adapter, I can load a 590 Shockwave with 9, 00 buck mini shells, and B) I'm not worried about a 590 Shockwave misfeeding or experiencing any cycling errors. With some trigger time and an adequate breaking in period, I might change my mind, who knows. Good video.
So wishing I bought this instead of the Black Aces version. It will not cycle any ammo I have. From birdshot to slugs, it fails to cycle far enough to even start to eject the spent shell. This one seems like it will run almost anything.
If i had a time machine, i would give 2 of these each to a shipful of pirates along with around a half million shells and watch the ensuing chaos as they do their pirate thing. Seriously, though, i want this or something like it but scaled down to 20ga. 20ga is honestly plenty powerful enough, and the shells are more compact, leading to many benefits.
I would slap a shell side saddle, And a DELAROSA TACTICAL shotgun short sling attachment for additional ammo. And carry a DELAROSA TACTICAL 25 round ammo TAC-Pouch.
I have personally shot both of them and the quality is much better on the Remington. Both of them will work but there is a very noticeable quality difference between the two and that's definitely reflected in the price.

You say it holds 5 rounds but you never put more than four in it. Does five rounds include one in the chamber? Also, will it shoot (reliably) those 'shorty' shells and how many rounds fit in there then? This is an interesting firearm. Thanks

Now I'm RE sold on this platform. At first I was all for the MB SW in 20 ga because of the recoil that the 12 ga produced. This firearm here just TAKES THE CAKE. So when the bullets come out of it does the recoil on it have the varying recoil of a smaller one on it? I’m new to shooting and stuff and some people think it’s bad questions what do you mean by slugs?
I thought the same thing, load it up! The issue I had with mine was Rio buck (too much of a variation in powder loads) and brenneke magnum crush 3" (possible overgassing?) One or two fail to feed. I will finish that video soon.
I have the shockwave and it kicks way more than this one. Black Aces Tactical does make a mossberg shockwave semi auto like this one for half the price.
We were able to hit steel silhouettes at 50 yards using slugs but I think that's outside of the purpose of this gun. Most people are going to use something like this for home defense or other close quarters situations.
Firearms/pistols may be outfitted with a pistol grip and arm brace according to the ATF. The arm brace is for mobility challenged shooters. Can we please as a community stop discriminating against the disabled? Fudds refusing to acknowledge the legal pistol grip/arm brace is offensive to the disabled shooters community.

In California you must have a minimum barrel length of 18" on a shotgun.

Yes, it is 5+1. It uses the magazine tube, but no it does not accept detachable magazines.

I'm sorry, I'm not sure what you are asking. Slugs are a solid lead projectile instead of smaller shot like a normal shotgun load.
