Rusty, it was my pleasure to watch this. A truly awesome day. I almost thought you guys came up to Pa. and found my Honey hole. Two good hunters like yourselves, deserve a hot spot like this. You Killed it. My partner, Dr. No, his best day was tied by you and JD, way to go. Like I posted on JD's video, Been there, Done That. lol
JD's Variety Channel Thanks JD! It was a blast =) When we did that hunt I thought for sure it would be forever until we hit a day like that again lol Just proves that this hobby is still as strong as ever. We got a 25+ silver day 2 weeks in a row buddy just insane!
JD's Variety Channel Amazing hunt JD & Rusty . That hunt will be one you will probably never beat , although I know you guys are going to try . Big congratulations to both of you .
Wow! What a hunt! You guys sure had to wade thru a lot of silver to get that 1 clad quarter lol! Loved seeing all the beautiful silver you both found! Thanks for showing a mere mortal how it's done! I'll be watching your door knocking videos too! HH!!!
+Don C hahaha JD and I were talking about the exact same thing that day. About halfway through the day one of was was like man I'd really like to find a clad today and we both busted up laughing =)
Man I can imagine! Here in NW Oregon, for me at least, It's getting very difficult to find the silver coins! Especially the older ones! I've yet to find my 1st half dollar silver. My oldest are 2 barber dimes, I've been detecting about 3 years now, hit it really hard the first year and a half, slowed down the last winter, but after watching you guys, I'm hitting it harder again. Hunting yards is where the silvers at these days, just havent been able to bring myself to door knocking. I need to though, and curb strip hunting is probably a good start in the right direction I think! At least doing that I'd have a better chance of making contact in neighborhoods that could lead to yards possibly!! Would be great to be able to get out hunting with experienced hunters like you guys! Good luck and happy hunting!
+Don C The best way to get over the fear of door knocking is write a script, practice it until you have it memorized, then go driving in an old part of town and pull in the first place that looks good. don't think about it, don't contiplate it, don't worry about it "Just Do It" like Nike =) I promise you after you do that about 10 or 20 times you'll be like what in the world was I scared of...
What an insane number of great targets! I'm very envious, but congrats anyway. I have a 1908 property I'll try to get permission for tomorrow & for the next two weeks to come. Keep swinging guys. Thanks for sharing the vids.
Wow, what an awesome day. Makes it even better when you have someone there to enjoy it with (besides the camera). You're off to a great start in 2015, congrats. HH.
Wow, Now thats the hunt we all dream about. absolutely amazing!!!! I may have to take vacation in Tennessee this year. LOL Congrats to both of you. WOW.
They are where you would least expect them lol. It was not a huge old mansion or anything spectacular. It was a "sleeper". I talk about this house in my email newsletter video series.
YFZMoto Ya no amount of rain was gonna keep us out after the first 10 minutes or so. It's actually pretty ironic the way it worked out. The home owner was a landscaper and was supposed to be out mowing yards that day. Because of the rain he had to stay home so we got the permission. If it hadn't rained he woulda been gone and no go for us. So ya don't let a little rainy day get you down just keep chugging along!
Awesome! This hunt had everything! I was calling out for a field factory reset on your CTX when it was acting up; hopefully this won't sideline you! BTW, did you ever get that pinpointer fixed?
ICdigger You think a factory reset would fix that issue? Not sure but I think it's a keypad issue because all the buttons kept getting pushed and it was just going bananas changing my settings and trying to go into gb mode. As for my Pro Pointers I have 4 on the way to Garrett for repair. They ALL have falsing issues 2 of mine and 2 from Dad. Pretty crazy the fail rate on those. I've spent 1,000+ hours using the pro pointers so it's not like I'm a newb lol Plus I'm borrowing one from a friend and it's working fine for the last two weeks so we actually had 4 pointers that went bad on us =(
Same here, regarding falsing propointers; my son and I are trying different brands after struggling with Garrett's; he has the minelab and I just started using the Makro Pointer; no hardline conclusions yet. Hope Minelab resolves your GTX problem!
Go back over those yards guys with a faster recovery speed detector and (no) it doesn't have to be a wicked deep detector to get the job done. You guys were finding some of them at only four inches so your vid shows. That only requires an average-depth detector and even a sub-$100 model at that to find the older coins. You always want to use a different, preferably faster machine because (NO ONE DETECTOR) does it all. I've been at this hobby since 1988 and have used many, many different ones. A Teknetics EuroPro with the 11" DD coil, XP Goldmaxx Pro, DeepTech Vista Gold, Gold Century GC-1023/1025 (below $100 for these two), etc., are (ALL) very good machines for depth/rec. speed combination. Good Luck and Happy Hunting!!
Huh? Good job recovering 9000 silver guys! Now go pick up a $50 radio shack detector to find the rest, obviously compensating for the impossible conditions that didn't exist in this video. What?
Hey if a different company makes a better machine for coils I'll be all over it but for now they are the best for silver coins. I use an AP Pro for water hunting and would choose it over the CTX 3030 actually...
Wow- nice hunt! I got a question; how much clad did you pull that day? I do ratios of clad to silver after my hunts. I have been trying to come up with a table you can use to estimate the productivity of searching a spot based on the age and the type of structure/area you are working. I am usually happy if I pull $2.90 of clad to a silver when I sweep a residential area. I've been working a high school built in 1921 and closed in 2010. Needless to say, my ratios are skewed but the hunt is super productive- I am pulling close to $5 in clad before I hit silver but I will dig the five dollars in less than 90 minutes whereas it will take half the day to get the $2.90 before hitting any silver at a house (if it is pre- 1940). So yeah, anyway, if you do remember, let me know how much clad you guys got.
Just a question out of curiosity. Do you and JD look for a spot together or was this one he found or one you found?. I wanna go hunting with new people but I don't want to take them somewhere really good and they never take me anywhere with a chance. Any tips? PS. I know JD isn't like that I watch him alot too.
JayNobleSteelEagle We drive around together and look for houses that could be good. Generally the conversation goes something like this - What do you think of that yard? Looks good! LOL We take turns knocking doors and driving and are equally good at it. That day we were driving around his town and going down some streets he hadn't hunted before looking at houses. He said that house looks good wanna knock it? I said you bet and I knocked and got a yes. I understand what you're saying about not sharing places but I guess you need to get to know the person first. I would have no problem taking JD to a honey hole if I lined one up. Several days later he came to my town and we knocked doors and got 27 silver that day so now we're even =) Will be posting a video of that day soon.
Gravity is the main culprit so I think the question to ask is what "prevents" the coin from going deeper =) Soil composition, soil density, and roots probably play a major role. It's strange because I have found seated dimes at only an inch deep and clad dimes at 10" lol. In MO coins were so much deeper than they are here in TN, probably because the soil is loose and dark in MO and dense and red clay mostly where I am now.
Pat Byrd Clad just means it's layered with copper in the middle and Nickel-copper on the outside. It's what we call the newer coins from 1965 and later. 1964 and older are the silver ones. So ya clad just means new change =)
Cool video, you really don't have to say "I'll let you know if I find some more" after every item you find, it becomes annoying. Don't mean to sound ugly, but rather take it as constructive criticism from a viewer. Thanks for the rad dig, I will subscribe.
Dude...congrats on the finds, but in all MY time of detecting, I've never been so lax at pinpointing. ID where the coin is before you dive in and damage it. If you found a rare date and then scratch it all to hell with your shovel, it's toast.

When you guys are knocking on doors what do you usually ask them?
Midwest Detecting There's a whole video on the process on my channel you should check it out.
seems crazy they are so well persevered sitting in loose moist soil.
Shanti Shanti Ya there's nothing like seeing shiny silver come out of the ground after being lost for 75 years! I never get tired of that feeling =)
This may be a dumb question, but I am really curious...: How do 'recent' coins (50's/60's) get down so deep in the soil?
Gravity is the main culprit so I think the question to ask is what "prevents" the coin from going deeper =) Soil composition, soil density, and roots probably play a major role. It's strange because I have found seated dimes at only an inch deep and clad dimes at 10" lol. In MO coins were so much deeper than they are here in TN, probably because the soil is loose and dark in MO and dense and red clay mostly where I am now.
Thank you. I can understand older coins and objects from the 1700/1800's being so deep, ...erosion, probably being the biggest culprit.
So people plant stuff with a bunch of coins in it??
cool video!!! like. subscribed. greetings from Russia!!

How do you get permission to hunt on peoples lawns? What is the best way to say "Hi, can I dig up your lawn?" plus I would be a bit nervous asking.
Sask321 You should check out my video on how to get permission door knocking there's a lot of good info and I record 10 door knocks live.
at 3:58 i saw there was a quarter
Looks like an impression there huh! Not sure what was going on lol.

Cutaplug Metal Detecting what metal detector do you guys use?
Central PA Hunting and Fishing I was using a ctx3030 and he was using an etrac that day.
Super !
You guys are not finding any relics at all at this location?
+Numisaccent Only relics were toy cars and guns and stuff like that. Check out JD's video of it I think he showed more of the non coin stuff =)
OK, damit....I'm selling my house ans moving to Tennesse
Y'all are unreal

Great hunt! Was that a 1930s-1940s house?
