This shows the great quality of gold. They were buried in a rusted can for over a hundred years, but they appear absolutely mint. Any other coin would be badly rusted and corroded, but not gold. It's like it didn't age at all.

Well those aren't pure gold coins. They're 90% gold alloyed with 10% copper. The copper can oxidize in spots on the face of the coin.

The FBI would be on your ass so fast you wouldn't even be able to say "lightning". Think about it, the government is aware of how many of these coins are still out there, and selling these for hundreds of thousands at a time would start to raise some eyebrows. The NSA would be hunting ur IP down, and next thing you know Agent 1 and Agent two are standing outside of your door with loaded guns. They confiscate the coins and accuse you of theft. Now you're doing jail time in a cell with bubba and Bertha, and they're making brown sugar outta your asshole. This couple did the right thing by coming out with the coins.

1963 our bar in northern california was burglarized...we had a huge safe, had gold coins in it. the owner of the bar was Greek and had stored them in the safe for years. They were 20 dollar gold coins. We assumed someone from Happy Camp hid in the bar in the bathroom, hid up above and waited until it was closed. He then broke open the safe and took all the gold coins. They were never recovered.

Men of the past, old men in particular, have often been untrustworthy of the government and economic future, so they create a stash that only they know about. Their apprehension is largely based on FDR's executive order in the early 30's, that ordered citizens to give up their precious metals. These old guys haven't forgotten about it, and make sure to protect/hide their gold. As far as abandoning the place I think he probably just died w out ever telling anyone about his stash. Truth is there are likely many cases like this around the world.

The date of the coins and the type of coins are after Mexico, much less Spain owned the land.

These coins belonged to the ancestors of the family who had the spanish land grant for that land. Its a known historical fact the spanish would bury their wealth on their land somewhere. I belive these people thought that but didn't mention it and its possible the attorneys involved also new it.

You got to be crazy if you're just going to pay off bills and donate the rest you're supposed to live off of it for the rest of your life
