Great videos lately. I'm a fellow NSS member from out west. Although currently in Canada. I received my first metal detector long ago when I was in 9th grade. The girl who sat next to me in computer class that year made fun of me for how excited I was about it. She's been my wife for 13 years now, she still hasn't figured out the metal detector :)
toolshell I had a teacher in High school that made fun of me because I always tried to be the class clown, and not very good at it....I married his daughter about 15 years later.
Love this video. I dug in VA. for 12 years. Half the coins I found in Confederate camps were defaced. Everything from an "X" carved on both sides of the coin, to an elaborate "CSA" with the soldier's name, unit and date carved on the obverse. Really interesting relics with a personal touch.
Nice video! My favorite of your finds is the thimble, makes me think of how many hours it spent on the finger tip of some woman, making and mending clothing. I come from a family of sewers so thimbles speak to me. Thanks for rescuing it from the depths!
it's nice to see the reality of digging and not shiny silvers all the Time!..not that anyone would ever fake a find...it's also nice to see you in the dirt...haha..great vids as usual
Thank you for sharing. I'm so glad you were not in a cave this time. I'm claustrophobic and they get me. Love your videos. You can send one of those lucky horse shoes my way. I used to collect them.
Great Video Aquachigger! I couldn't afford the AT pro so I ordered the Ace 300 that I'm getting in the mail this Tuesday! So excited! We Use a Bounty Hunter at the moment. You've inspired my husband and I to metal detect! Thanks so much!
Those dimples in the brass thimble are there to help you pushing the needle through the cloth. If you try that without the thimble you simply push the side of the needle with the hole in it through your skin. Another great video - ATB Marc - Belgium
Hey, Chiggy ! I've wanted a metal detector forever and I finally convinced myself that it's ok to go without groceries this month. LOL just joking ...kinda. I ordered the Garrett Ace 400. I feel like a kid again waiting for Santa Claus to come. LOL. I live in SW PA and I find relics in my mom's yard every time I look down. I love it. I just go out in the dirt, kick it around and dig a little. I've found old military buttons, pottery shards, bottles ........all kinds of treasures. From what my stepdad tells me there was an old shed that burned down in that spot and a small dump. But I have acres of old homestead to use my detector on! The coolest thing found was a very old pair of binoculars! They say army long range as well as Champiere Paris , that is exactly how it is spelled on them. Do you know anything about them? I have no clue as to why they were in the woods. I've been binge watching your videos and learning a lot. Thanks for all the great videos. Happy hunting, Michele
Very interesting video, really enjoyed your your day of digging and looking for stuff. I think the way you kept me interested from beginning to end was great. I see 59 people with a thumbs down, can not even begin to imagine what they did not like.
very instructional ty sir...and im with you im a hole maker...might not find much good stuff but im a noob so have to learn my old coinmaster 6000d...its an antique but for 25 bucks at a yard sale a great find in itself....ive used it some about 9 yrs ago lol so just need to get new batteries and im back to digging. I bought it to treasure hunt with the grand babies and now i figure wth i'll try to find something to talk about with friends and family...enough of my story however, i've been watching alot of youtube videos of you and others and like the hunt and history behind this recreation...wish me luck as i've wished all of you's..HH oh nice finds!
AquaChiggar I am still recovering from surgery. Your video came right on time. Watching it now while eating my supper. #holdyourbreath I am so thankful I found your channel. I'm going out just as soon as I heal.
As I was watching I thought, wow that is just like the site I was on today from all of the things you were seeing and finding and then you dug a thimble which was the best thing I found today. Thank you Chigg.
Great video to give guidance on ferrous rich locations. Please remember to show viewers what settings you are working with...I use your videos to learn what doesn't work just as much as what does work. Thanks again!
Every time I see pottery shards it brings back memories of sorting 100 lb sacks of them when I worked as an archaeology intern at a museum in Baltimore.
I'm new to metal detecting and enjoy when you take time to explain your setting on the detector. I have a Garrett AT and I'm starting to understand it better. Keep up the good work and Hold Your Breath!!! LoL.
Hi, with the curry comb it is actually used to get the grime and hair off of a body brush or dandy brush, I guessed this item and the flat iron too :). Great finds well done xx
Thanks for the great idea with the hanger/lanyard on the machine. I'm trying to develop some kind of weight reducer to hook onto a alice frame so you can swing all day with no arm strain.
Back in those days they wouldn't normally just burn wood with the nails in them. They couldn't just walk to the hardware store and pick up a box of em'. They would try to salvage every nail. So when you find burned nails you gotta assume something happened there. Which is a good thing for hunting, downside is you're going to be hitting alot of nails.
Thank you for all your great videos and all your time you spend to entertain all of us thanks Aquachigger I always can hardly wait for your next video and love all the history 👽👽👽😻
That cooking pot had a lid with eyelet in middle to lift with, that being said would a union soldier forge a bayonet to a perfect hook to lift said lids. I found one recently at campsite.
OHMYGERD YES!!! the AT Pro! I missed that one! I bought one on your sole recommendation in one of your old videos and then suddenly you stopped using it and started using your AT gold. COOOOOOOL!
Some good finds out there. I like the wireless contraption for the headset. I hate when I lay my machine down and the cable pulls at my head. Gonna go get me that thing.
Our snow is finally melting here in the NW and I'm so excited to get back out there to detect. This was an awesome video, love the musical instrument and flat iron... and buttons, everything you found actually. Lol ATB and HH
Hiya Chigg! I am always excited to see a new video of yours pop up! You make me want to get back into metal detecting :) my detector is very cheap and old though D:
AHHH, the lovely Jew's harp that was the 2nd relic I ever found. Mine almost had a carved look to it. Thanks for the tip on the burnt nail thing. I just thought they were preserved better for some reason.
Great video bro, tks for explaining some single sounds (deeper or shallow/iron vs a good find) and the "pro zero" option. I'm a newbie and gleaning much from advice of the sounds.
The handle on the iron may not be broken. It was made to come off and be switched onto another iron that was waiting to be used. A house wife might have 2-3 of them. As she picked up one iron with the handle, the others would be on the stove or near a fire heating up. She would then sprinkle the clothing with some water and iron the fabric. As the iron naturally cooled down and become ineffective, she would place it back on the stove, or by the fire, detach the handle and pick up the next iron with it and get back to ironing the clothes. She would be constantly switching each iron until her chore was done. I tried to find a video on this, but was unsuccessful.
I have several old irons like that but mine each have there own handle that is permanently attached. They were in my family way back, over 100 yrs ago in Vermont. I use them as door stops, keeps the door open to a room and won't allow a draft to shut the door. That was an interesting video.
I'm familiar with the type of iron that you are speaking of but from my experience the type shown in the video would have had a handle on it originally. thanks
hi Mr chigg are you planning on coming to England again and would it be possible to show some of your finds when you were here last, love the channel keep up the good work,PS love the caving videos your very brave! Chris from Shakespeare land
So, a child fired his his 20 gauge in the yard at a squirrel while dad was combing the horse causing said horse to buck and kick and dropping the comb. Dad dives out of the way and snags his coat on the wall of the horse stall, losing a button and knocking open the stall door as he falls. Door knocks over the hot iron the wife has set on a rock near the stall door to cool down, it falls into the grass and ignites the stall, killing the horse and leaving a horseshoe with all the nails in it still. The stall then catches the cabin on fire, but the family escapes and spends the night with the neighbors. After dinner, pappy reaches into his pocket to play a little jew's harp but his hand comes up empty... Forensic metal detectives.
Thanks for bringing the item up to the camera so we can see it. that makes it awesome. also could you from time to time mention what is the setting that you have, Either Disc 1 or Disc 2, and what Number comes up on the screen ? for what machine you are using ? the ATGold or the ATPro ? thanks Aquachigger ! sincerely thunterjack Sat 6-3-17

Like the change of style in which you filmed this +aquachigger much more clearer and professional.

It is getting harder to get up and down these days for a lot of people . I admire your go to attitude . You are a fun teacher .
Nice video! My favorite of your finds is the thimble, makes me think of how many hours it spent on the finger tip of some woman, making and mending clothing. I come from a family of sewers so thimbles speak to me. Thanks for rescuing it from the depths!

1. Thanks for attaching the z link to the camera. 2. That's smile after the first horseshoe and thimble find. Made me giggle. Awesome.
Thank you for sharing. I'm so glad you were not in a cave this time. I'm claustrophobic and they get me. Love your videos. You can send one of those lucky horse shoes my way. I used to collect them.

Some very nice finds, especially the thimble and the Jew's harp. Buttons always are great too!

Aquachigger= SUCH AN INTERESTING DUDE!
I do like your Camo colours to keep a low profile when out and about. looking for relics.
I don't feel so bad now, except for the mouth harp, that's a dandy! Nice video Beau
Great video bro, tks for explaining some single sounds (deeper or shallow/iron vs a good find) and the "pro zero" option. I'm a newbie and gleaning much from advice of the sounds.
Like always another great video you have done, like the way you explained the mode you detect in
